Hi Helen - Thanks for your response. I have been looking for Greta, but no luck so far. The Historical Society was no help, nor was the phone book, but I will keep trying. My grandfather, Carl August (Charles) was naturalized in 1896 in Eureka so may have been here at the same time your grandfather was. I do remember hearing of the Chaffey family. Did they live on Alliance Road? There was a builder named "Rice" that my grandfather worked with. Were you originally from the Arcata area? Contact me by e-mail if you would like.
