No I didn't know her, but I do remember the situation. She was standing on Myrtle Ave near the corner of Harrison when a drunk came around the corner (if I'm remembering correctly) and hit her.

The only school I can think of in the Bottoms that also was affiliated with a church was St. Mary's school on Janes Road. However, there was (maybe still is) one on Union Street near Samoa Blvd. I can't remember the name of it, but seems like it had an unusual name with a z in it.
