I have been tracking my great-great grandfather for the last two years and have finally pinned him down in Humboldt Co., California. Thomas UNDERWOOD is living with the COULTER family. I have not figured out who Olive is quite yet, but the ancestors I have been tracking do have olives in their family tree, not to mention more than a few nuts! :-)

I would love to find a death and burial for Thomas UNDERWOOD in Humboldt County, California. He appears to have never returned to his family in Joplin, Jasper Co., Missouri, although both he and his wife list themselves as married on the 1880 census. Ergo, I don't think it was a simple case of abandonment.

Their son, also named Thomas, is living in Dow's Prairie, Humboldt Co., California. I have been able to identify the family connection from this USGenWeb site: http://ca-files.biofiles.us/Humb.645-695.htm

The William in the narrative for James Underwood is my great-great grandfather's eldest brother. His widow, Matilda Underwood, is living in Mad River next door.

Many thanks for your kind assistance,
Christy
