RALPH G. DIAZ 1923-2002

Forty-three year Ridgecrest resident Ralph G. Diaz passed away Sunday, November 10, 2002 of natural causes at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. He was 79.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 10 am at Holland & Lyons Chapel.

The services will be officated by Father Adrian Gervacio, LCDR, CHC, N (sic) with Military Rites performed by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, NAWS, China Lake.

Ralph Diaz was born on November 5, 1923 in California. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1963. After his service to his country, he worked as a security guard with Day and Zimmerman at NAWS, China Lake.

Mr. Diaz enjoyed traveling and was life member of the VFW Ship 4084.

He also held memberships in the American Legion (No. 684) and Masonic Lodge (No. 684). He was a friend to many and very helpful to all.

Mr. Diaz is survived by: Wife - Elwanda Ruth Diaz of Ridgecrest; Sons - William Frederick and Eugene of San Diego, Terry P. Diaz and Mike Broaker of Ridgecrest; Daughters - Diane Stevens of Escondido, Bernice La Dassor of Ridgecrest and Diana Straka of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Brother - Arthur Diaz of Los Angeles; Sister - Gloria Lake of Los Angeles.

A private cremation, arrangements and media information were provided by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.

Ralph G. Diaz of Ridgecrest died Nov. 10, 2002 at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. He was 79.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 10 am at Holland & Lyons Chaple (sic). Father Adrian Gervacio, Lt. Cmdr. CHC, Navy, will officiate. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard of China Lake will provide military rites.

Mr. Diaz was born in California on Nov. 5, 1923. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-63. A Ridgecrest resident since 1959, he was employed as a security guard at China Lake by Day & Zimmerman.

He enjoyed traveling. He was a life member of VFW Ship 4084, American Legion Post No. 684, and Masonic Lodge No. 684. His loved ones remember him as "a friend to many and very helpful to all."

He is survived by his wife, Elwanda Ruth Diaz of Ridgecrest; sons, William Frederick Diaz and Eugene Diaz of San Diego, Terry P. Diaz and Mike Broaker of Ridgecrest; daughters Diane Stevens of Escondido, Bernice La Dassor of Ridgecrest and Diana Straka of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother Arthur Diaz of Los Angeles and 18 grandchildren.

Private cremation and arrangement were provided by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
