LAWRENCE "LARRY" THATCHER 1927-2003
Lawrence "Larry" Thatcher died Jan. 7, 2003. He was 75.
Thatcher was born on April 28, 1927 in Richmond, to Ebel and Blanch Thatcher. He was a man who loved life, loved his family and loved to camp, fish and hunt.
He loved to dance and tell a story and a good joke. He learned to lived with his cancer and gave all he head (sic) to his life and made the ones who were sad laugh.
He knew that branding the years in this life was the best job he ever had.
Thatcher arrived to Kern County in 1952. He worked in Johnsondale for several years at the mill. He worked in Old Kernville, moving buildings to New Kernville. He served two years in the armed forces during World War II.
He established T and T Alignment in Ridgecrest with his brother Bob. He moved to Kern Valley in 1976 and established Larry's Alignment in Lake Isabella. He retired in 1986 due to illness.
Thatcher is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara and his former wife and mother of his children, Sue Estes of Ridgecrest. He is also survived by three sons Larry and his wife Ginger of Onyx, David and his wife Kimmie of Inyokern, and Scott and his wife Diane of Bakersfield; two daughters Jay and her husband Chuck Mullen of Independence and Susan and her husband Dave Vculek of Roseburg, Ore., six grandsons, three granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, two stepsons Geoffrey Rooffener and his wife Debbie of Lake Isabella and Michael Rooffener and his wife Jeana of Weldon, stepdaughter Carla Rooffener of Onyx, four step grandsons, six step granddaughters, three brothers Bob and his wife Donna of Placerville, Stuart and his wife Verna of Fresno, and Ebel and his wife Betty of Winton, two sisters Pearl Hilburn of Victorville, and Ruby Fulton of South Carolina, and his mother-in-law Ramona Hevener of Trona. Services were entrusted to the care of the Lake Isabella Funeral!
