BARBARA WILLIS 1921-2003
Barbara Willis passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was 81 years old.
A private ceremony was held in Las Vegas for immediate family members.
Willis was born on Oct. 26, 1921 in Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Amanda Omberg. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was very young. She graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles in January 1940.
She married Harry Willis on Feb. 1, 1940 and they moved to Ridgecrest in January 1950. Willis worked as a secretary at Burroughs High School until she retired in 1975. Barbara and Harry moved to Las Vegas in 1997, where they lived next door to their daughter and son-in-law.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years Harry Willis, sister Esther Woolweber of Las Vegas, daughter and son-in-law Donna and Keith Andreas of Las Vegas; daughter Barb Smith of Ridgecrest; grandchildren Ronnie Bauer of Tracy, Daryl Bauer of Lathrop, Brent Bauer of Jamestown, Scott Andreas and Ben Andreas of Las Vegas, Dena VanDevender of El Segundo, Tiona VanDevender of Boise, Ashley Smith of Ridgecrest and 12 great-grandchildren.
"There will be an empy place in the hearts of many whose lives were touched by our mother. She honored all of life by the way she loved those who shared it with her. She will be warmly remembered, deeply missed."
