Investigate Death of Riverside Man
At 11:27 p.m. Saturday night, Deputies Day, Miner, and Shudl received a call from the Mojave Hospital regarding a dead man found in the rear seat of a car.
Upon arriving at the hospital, they found Raymond Howard Baisinger, 39, of 3841 Park Ave., Riverside, dead on the floor of a Chevrolet convertible of 1941 vintage. The car was owned and driven by Jimmie Dale Harris, 19, of Alameda, California.
Preliminary examination failed to show any signs of violence on the body. The deceased had been in the company of Hurschel, Sidney Hoffman and his son, both of Riverside. The trio were en route to Fresno to pick fruit when Baisinger became ill and later unconscious at Clear Creek. There Jimmie Harris had been prevailed upon to bring the party to Mojave so they could obtain medical aid, but the man was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Ted Horsley.
The deceased's wife has been notified of his death by Mr. Jacoby of. the O'Donnell Funeral Home. Both Hoffman and his son, Phillip, were taken to the county jail in Bakersfield, and Harris was detained in the Mojave jail pending the result of an autopsy.
