Lancaster man Killed at EAFB

Mr. Frank J. Rogers, 29, of Lancaster, received fatal injuries in an accident March 11 at the intersection of Rosamond Blvd. and South Forbes Ave. on Edwards Air Force Base.
The accident occured at 3:20 p.m. when a commercial garbage disposal truck owned by Desert Enterprises and driven by W. R. Davis, 21 of Rosamond approached the intersection and reportedly ran a stop sign. The truck hit a 1960 automobile driven by Mr. Rogers.
Rogers was ejected from the compact car on impact. He died in the Edwards AFB Hospital a short time later.
The driver of the truck was not injured, but his passenger, Ezra Davis Jr., 30, of Lancaster received minor injuries.
Initial investigation was made by Air Police and CHP, Officer D. E. Lake. It is possible that the truck experienced brake failure, and further investigation is being made before any citations are issued, according to Officer Lake.
