ROBERT PRESS THATCHER 1932-2005

Former resident Robert Press Thatcher passed away Saturday Nov. 5, 2005. He was 72.
Bob was born Dec. 9, 1932 to Ebel Jefferson and Blanch Anna Thatcher, the fourth of nine children. He was born in Richmond, where he spent the early part of his life in and around Fresno and Mariposa.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Korean War in the infantry and as a cook. In 1953 Bob returned from Korea and became a wine and water tank builder for Frank Stephanich in Fresno.
In 1961 at the urging of his brother Larry, Bob moved to Ridgecrest to work at Jims Tire Shop until the early 70's when Bob and Larry bought Jim out and opened T&T Alignment. Hence called Thatcher and Thatcher, where they employed their sons, nephews, cousins and made many lifelong friends.
In 1988 Bob sold T&T and moved to Placerville where he and Donna held many family reunions.
In 1004 Bob and Donna moved to Jerome, Idaho into their dream home where he spent the remaining days of his life enjoying the things he loved and playing with his Rat Terrier, Squeaker.
Bob spent many weekends hunting and fishing and enjoying the great outdoors with his brothers, sons, cousins and nephews.
One of his favorite things was pitching horseshoes with his many friends in Placerville. He made friends wherever he lived and it was said of Bob that he never met anyone he didn't like. He always tried to be a good neighbor and help others in need.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Donna, his children Jefferson and wife Deborah, John and wife Vickie, Amy and husband Danny Paul, stepchildren Curtis Gay and wife Amber, Randy Gay, Lorna William and husband Ted, Jay Brock and Susie Cross, brother Stuart and wife Verna, brother Manny and wife Betty, sisters Pearl Hilburn and Ruby-Ann Fulton. Bob will be greatly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and wonderful friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers Lawrence and Donald, his sisters Dorothy and Ruthie and his beloved son Timothy Eugene Thatcher.
Bob was a man of his word and a great example to all who knew him being a hardwordking man full of love and compassion.
The Memorial Service and Celbration of Bob's life will be held at the BPO Elks Lodge, 201 E. Church St., on Saturday Nov. 19 at 1 pm. A private burial service will be held at a later date.

Former Ridgecrest resident Robert Press Thatcher died Nov. 5, 2005. He was 72. A memorial service and celebration of Bob's life will be held at the BPO Elks Lodge, 201 E. Church St., Ridgecrest, Nov. 19 at 1 pm. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
Bob was born in Richmond, Calif. Dec. 9, 1932 to Ebel Jefferson and Blanch Anna Thatcher and was the fourth of nine children.
