Marshall Wilhelm Former Cafe Operator

Services were h el d last week in Lancaster for Marshall Welhelm, 78, 45443 Elm; Ave., Lancaster, who passed
away January 10, 1971.
Mr. Wilhelm was born January 8, 1893 in Fairfield, Iowa. He came to California in 1930. He first went to work
in Mojave for Angelo Cappello as a pastry cook at the old French Cafe. Cappello taught him all the tricks of the trade, and in 1931 he bought his own cafe, and named it Marshll's. He became ill and sold the cafe in a 1943. It is now known as Reno's. He later worked as a chef at the California Inn in California City until his retirement.
He married the former Martha Shimon of Tehachapi in 1941, and she survives him at the home. Also surviving are his
two daughters, Mrs. Carol SchoneI, Lancaster; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Guelff, Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Elsie Murdock,
Woodland Hills; and four grandchildren.
The rosary was recited January 12 at Murphy's Mortuary and the requiem mass was held last Wednesday
morning, January 13, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Lancaster. Interment was in the Joshua Memorial Park.
