TEDDY RAY CRIPPS 1930-2006
Teddy Ray Cripps was born in Cedar City, Utah to Ernest alonzo Cripps and Mary Joyce Millett on July 11, 1930. He passed away at the Kolob Care and Rehabilitation Center in St. George, Utah on Friday Feb. 10, 2006 from cancer.
He and his family moved to San Bernardino when he was 5. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. On Mar. 20, 1951 he married his sweetheart Erlene Christensen in Yuma, Ariz. They were later sealed in the Mesa, Ariz. temple on Jan. 5, 1953.
Their children are: David (Kathy) Cripps, Daniel (Lila) Cripps, donald (Terri) Cripps, Debra Cripps, Diana (Jim) Davis and denise (Dan) Husk.
They raised their children in Ridgecrest near the China Lake Naval Base where Teddy worked for the government. When Teddy retired in August 1985 they moved to Hurricane, Utah where they have resided since then.
Teddy was a hard worker and starting at a young age usually held two jobs at a time. He was a newspaper dealer for many years to suplement his income from working on the base. Even after retirement he stayed busy. He worked for the City of Hurricane as an Animal Control Officer. At the same time he also became a janitor at the Hurricane High School. He must not have been busy enough because he also worked in security at the St. George Temple. He finally quit working in July 1998.
Teddy is survived by his wife Erlene Cripps, his six children and their spouses 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brother Kenneth (Betty) Cripps of Sun city and Boyd (Connie) Cripps of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 17 at the Hurricane Fourth Ward Chapel located at 1178 S. 700 W. Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:30 am with the funeral following. Teddy will be buried at the Hurricane Valley Cemetery.
