Nellie Macres passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the age of 89. She was born on Feb. 2, 1917. She grew up in Lattabra. She received her B.A. from Berkeley in 1937, graduating with honors. She was accomplished seamstress and quilter; an avid reader and gardner. Her happiest years were spent living in the mountain community of Graegle.

Nellie is survived by her son, Richard Macres and his wife, Jean, of Julian; her daughters, Nancy Mengelberg of Sebatopol; Linda Smith and her husband, Michael, of Tehachapi; Marianne Pennings and her husband, Dan, of Oregaard, Ariz.; and twelve grandchildren.

No services will be held. Rememberances can be made to World Vision or hospice in lieu of flowers.
