Does obituary lookups for a moderate fee. Provide accurate spelling of name and correct date of death. If requesting by phone, call the library's genealogy room at 661-868-0773. Lookups will be done in the following newspapers: Kern County Weekly Courier, Southern Californian, Kern County Gazeteer, Kern County Californian.

Cost is $5 for first obit request, plus $1 each additional obituary lookup request submitted at the same time. If the patron is looking for historical information as well, a larger donation will be requested to cover the cost of printing and the time involved. Self-addressed stamped envelope required
