William Fredrick Sligh, a long time resident of Kern County passed away Feb 12th 2004 in Clovis, CA. He worked for Honolulu Oil in McKittrick, CA. from 1949-1952 as a roustabout. He then moved to Oildale (a suburb of Bakersfield)in 1952 and worked for Superior Oil Company. In the 1970's he was unable to work in that type of occupation and started learning how to create jewelry from his own designs. He had a successful business from the mid 70's until 1994 called "Burning Bush Jewelry." He was in the "Who's Who" book. In 1996 his wife Anita and he had to move to Clovis to be cared for by their daughter Ruth Sligh. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 52 years, Anita Sligh in 1998. He then became ill and died in 2004. He is survived by daughter Ruth Sligh of Clovis and Mark Sligh of Cantil, CA. He was the grandson of a Civil War 2nd Lt. Confederate Veteran Southern Cross of Honor recepient, James E. Sligh
