LOCAL GLEANINGS

The little child of L. C. Herrick, which was seriously ill last week, has
recovered.

George J. Geary, of Ash Valley, passed through here last Saturday with a
band of 130 head of beef cattle which he is taken to the lower market.
Harry Williams is assisting in the drive, and Johnny Blake, of Adin, came
with them as far as this place.

H. S. Brown, of Lookout, owns a cow which has netted him an increase of five
head in fifteen months. This seems incredible, but Mr. Brown's explanation
makes the matter clear. The cow gave birth to twin heifer calves in April
1892, one of the calves had a calf when thirteen months old, and at the same
time the cow gave birth to another calf, make five in all. Every calf is a
heifer, and at this rate, how long will it be before the cow will have 100
offsprings?

Fair.

effort.

cheese.
