Good Day Everyone.

I'm researching the surname Callaghan in Liverpool, Eng. and was
wondering if anyone else has come across Callaghan's changing the
spelling of their name.

I've found on a marriage cert. in 1890 that my g.g. grandfather spelt
his name Calligan. On his daughters marriage cert. in 1913 she spells
his name Callaghan.

Has anyone else come across their ancestors doing this and why?
