Sylvester is my GGG grandfather. I am also stuck at the Dennis and Johanna generation, although I recently found Catherine's obituary in the Lima News (Jun 24, 1923), which reads as follows:

"FUNERAL OF MRS. MULCAHY WILL BE HELD TUESDAY -- Mrs. Catherine Mulcahy, 83, died Saturday at her home, 454 N. West-st., following a long illness.

She was born in Ireland and came to this country when a small child. Her parents resided in New York state where she resided until 55 years ago, when she came to Lima.

Surviving are one son, Thomas Mulcahy, and a daughter, Johanna Mulcahy, both at the family home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church. Interment in Gethsemani."

I am surprised by the statement that she emigrated with her parents and settled in New York; I am not sure how reliable that is as the 1860 census has Sylvester and Catherine living with Timothy Keefe in Pleasant, Ohio; I also know that Catherine married Patrick Mulcahy in Lima, Ohio on April 11, 1864 (Patrick died in 1880). I too had thought that Dennis and Johanna had both died in Ireland and sent the two children to live with Johanna's brother in Ohio. I have also read on another message board that Sylvester and Catherine had another brother, Connie, who died in Ireland around the same time as the parents.

As for Catherine's children, as far as I can tell, neither ever married. Johanna died in 1927 and Thomas in 1931, both in Lima.
