I am the Research Director for the California Genealogical Society in Oakland
(for 100 years in San Francisco, but rising rents drove us out.) I get many
requests to search for obituaries for people who died in LA County, but the
only newspaper we have up here, with a decent run, is the LA Times, which
gives a nessarily scanty coverage of a huge area.

When I can think of nothing else, I recommend that people write to the LA
Public Library, on the theory that they probably have a good collection of
local papers. The problem is - I don't know whether they have anyone to look
for obituaries.

Can anyone confirm that I am on the right track, or does anyone have a better
suggestion?
