Many thanks to all of you who answered my question regarding the listing for
another individual born on the same day as my younger sister with the same
parents names as our own. What a helpful bunch! I received many replies off
list, and I thought it easiest to summarize the replies for the benefit of
the other readers.

Donna suggested that it was likely that it was a double listing or that
perhaps one cert might have been from before she was named.

Jeanne recounted that her uncle was given a different name at birth than the
one he used growing up.

NMargaret suggested that it might be a computer mistake, a double listing,
or that perhaps another woman's child was listed incorrectly under my mother's
name.

Inglis believes that it was most likely a name correction, but provided
directions for obtaining the record from LA County Recorder in Norwalk. The cost
is $15, and the request should be made for an Informational Birth
Certificate by providing the name of the child, date of birth, and parents names as
shown on the CABI.

Zona and Christi asked for the URL to the CABI at Vital Search:
_http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/_ (http://www.vitalsearch-ca.com/)

One must register for this site. Much of the database information is
available to nonpaying guests, but some of the search features are only available
to Premium Search Members who have paid a yearly registration fee. The CABI
is searchable by nonpaying guests by surname only. One must then scroll
through the surname listings to locate an individual. Paying members can add
parents surnames, child's given name, and dates to the search parameters.

Thanks again to each of you who has helped me, both on and off the list.
Each of your suggestions will be explored as I try to answer this mystery.

Shelly
