Seeking genealogy about John Haley, born 1838 Canada, died before 1902 California, perhaps Madera Co or San Francisco. He was naturalized in 1869 in New York City. Before 1878 he married Gertrude Williams, born 1852 in England, died 1913 in San Francisco. In 1902 as a widow she was in San Francisco. Children unknown. I think they were wealthy.
John owned Fresno Enterprise Mining Company AKA Enterprise Mining Company AKA Enterprise Mine in Fresno Co ca 1878 to 1893, a successful gold mine. For a time he also owned Gambetta Mine which operated about 1880 to 1904. Both were in the former town of Grub Gulch. In 1893 the area became Madera Co.
John and Gertrude are shown in the 1880 census in Fresno Co at the mine. He registered to vote in 1879 in Crane Valley, Fresno Co, which later became Bass Lake, Madera Co).
Gertrude School near Ahwahnee was named for her.
