Fred Griffith Victim of Influenza

Fred T. Griffith, for many years a well-known resident of Merced county, passed away at the County Hospital last Sunday from pneumonia following influenza.

The deceased was born on the Merced river sixty-one years ago and was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Griffith, who were among the earliest settlers in the Merced river section.

He spent the greater portion of his life here, being engaged in farming, and a number of years ago served as Deputy - Constable of the Merced township.
He was well known throughout the country and was well liked by his numerous friends.

He leaves a wife and two children, who are at present influenza patients at the County Hospital.
Other relatives are a son and a daughter by a former marriage and a brother, Dr. Frank Griffith, who is county veterinarian of Kings county, and resides at Hanford.

The funeral was private and was held from the funeral chapel of Welch & Co., at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery, Rev. Father Looney officiating at the grave.
