Hi Cameron's

I have a letter written by a Susie Cameron Morgan, dated January 11, 1934.
In this letter she tells the history of her Cameron family. The problem I
have is that some of the facts don't mesh with mine and I'm wondering where
the break is. I'll give you the basics, if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

the following is an excerpt from the letter: " Donald Cameron, with his wife
and 17 children, landed in NY in 1696. There were 3 sets of twins; Alexander
and James, Donald and David..and Thomas and Benneham (as the scotch call it).
William and John Stephen were the other sons. I remember only three of the
daughters names: Amarintha, Sara, Elizabeth and Julia Ann, O yes, and
Emiline, who or when they married I never heard papa say.
Donald Jr. settled in PA and at one time was called a steel king. He and papa
corresponded for a number of years. He wrote Papa that he knew they were near
relatives and he wanted more of the history of the Camerons who went South.
David remained in NY, Benneham Sr. settled in North Carolina near Raleigh,
and his decendants are wealthy tobacconists.
William Sr. settled in Va. His grandson Wm. E. Cameron was Governor of VA
during the Reconstruction Days. He died in Petersburg Va last winter (1933)
near 90. While Papa and Mama were visiting me in 1902, Papa met Gov. Cameron
down at the Capitol. Papa told the Gov. the resemblance between him and his
father was so striking it shocked Papa, as his father (your great
grandfather) had been dead 50 years. Gov. Cameron said "you are enough like
my father to be his twin. I know you are a Cameron. Which one of the original
boys are you?"
