> Hi Cameron listers,
I am glad to be on dsl as of yesterday. I got empty Cameron messages
these past months, you know how frustrated that made me. I am still
in Nova Scotia. I love it here...signs of our ancestors
everywhere, and
I have a funny story. Hope it is OK.
I was at the Tim Horton's the other AM (for those of you not in Canada,
it is the equivilent of "Starbucks"...good coffee!) There were 4 of
us in line.
Only 4. I heard the fellow to the right of me say something to this
effect,
to the man behind me, you're a Cameron right? The 2nd replied yes...
The lady behind said I am Cameron too...Of course I had to chime in,
me too.
Man #1 poked fun at man #2, ya but you are of those wild? (or some such
thing Camerons)...The conversation ended up with me telling of my poet
ggrandfather, (placque in old Post Office)...you've heard this one a few
times, and then i added, my grandfather always reminded us of the old
gaelic poem "there's so much good in the worst of us, and so much
bad in the best of us, that it does not behove any of us, to talk about
the rest of us"....we laughed, and then the event ended with me having
to rescue my coffee from man #1 who had inadvertantly carried MY
coffee out to the parking lot, instead of his order. Fun!
That afternoon, I was rummaging through old books in "Garrets by
The Sea" antiques...a young fellow came in searching for his ancestor
Donald Cameron...the fellow was from Hopewell, and I had a Hopewell
History book IN my hand at the moment...Fun stuff...There is life after
empty nest after all...
I am hot on the trail of gggGrandfather Donald Ian Cameron...it is
such a quest now, I won't rest til I find him...btw, there is a Donald
Cameron of The Fallen Tree buried out here in Cameron Cemetery
by MacKenzie Head, Nova Scotia , just like the other one in
in S. D, and Glengarry Co. Coincidence?!!
Well, hi to all, I have missed the Cameron list, and glad to be back
on...
