Cyril Mamath of Lookout was in Adin this week.

Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Harvey and Mrs. Arthur Vogt went to Klamath Falls
last Wednesday.

George Parker and Bob Cook were in from Butte Creek one day last week.

Mrs. Hugh Woodward drove to Klamath Falls on Thursday. She was
accompanied by her daughter Coleen, Rev. and Mrs. Clapp and Mrs. Ruth
Hays.

Mrs. Alex Campbell was honored at a stork shower at the home of Mrs.
Russell McKennon Wednesday evening. Mrs. Claude Crone was co-hostess.
About forty guests were present. Adaintily decorated cart, filled to
over flowing with lovely gifts was wheeled in to the honored guests by
little Miss Karen Woodmansee.

Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Chace were in Adin Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Yocum have moved into the Elkins house. They recently
came here from Los Angeles.

Mrs. Dorothy Yowell of Lookout was shopping in Adin one day this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Rex Riley of Orland visited Mrs. Riley's parents Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Miller this week.

Officers of Mystic Jewel Rebekah lodge were installed Tuesday evening by
D. D. Donnie Clark and staff. The installation had been postponed
because of the absence of the newly elected noble grand Mrs. Addie
Yowell who was called to Modesto several weeks ago by the serious
illness of her mother. The newly installed officers are: P.N.G., Grave
Vogt; N.G., Addie Yowell; V.G., Anne Pickard; secty., Donnie Clark;
treas., Ella Harper; warden, Leda Steele; conductor, Allene Harvey;
chaplain, Imo Smelcer; R.S.N.G., Irma Myers; R.S.V.G., Mae Massotti;
L.S.V.G., Alice Wayman; I.G., E. S. Pickard; O.G. Joe Steele.

Deputy Sheriff Marion Thompson was in Adin Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Keefer came up from their home in Sacramento to spend a
few days with Mrs. Keefer's daughter Mrs. Keith Edgerton and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Nash and Earl Nash have sold their stock of
groceries and service station equipment to Mr. and Mrs. Willim Lacks who
recently came here from San Fernando. The Lacks also bought the
building on the corner of Main and Cedar streets from Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Weidman of Alturas and will continue the grocery and service
station business and will also open a barber shop in the building. They
expect to build living quarters at the back of the store as soon as
materials can be purchased.

J. E. Albaugh was in town from his Willow Creek ranch Friday.

Mrs. Norine Edgerton drove to Grants Pass this week and brought her
mother in law Mrs. Grace Edgerton to Adin for a few days visit with her
sons, Keith, Harry and Chester and her daughter Mrs. Lois McKennon and
their families. She has many friends here who are happy to welcome her
back to Adin.

Mrs. Martha McNeal and son Bruce came by plane from their home in
Quincy, Ill. to visit her parents Mr. and Mrs. Thad Bath of Ash Valley.
The Baths met her at Reno Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Petty and two daughters are visiting at the home of
Herb's sister and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dunbar.

Mrs. Anne Pickard sustained some bruises and wrenched muscles one day
this week when she fell while getting some feed for her chickens.
Fortunately no serious injuries were received.

Mr. and Mrs. Bart Steele and daughters Ruth and Yvonne and Mrs. F. R.
Page and Miss Cleo Weigand went to Alturas one day this week.

Mrs. B. A. Chace returned Sunday from a week spent in San Francisco.

The ladies of the 20th Century club celebrated the clubs' birthday
anniversary last week by going in a body to the Pinecone Inn where they
had arranged to have a dinner. A lovely birthday cake had been prepared
for the occasion. Fifteen ladies were present. Names were drawn for
their years mystery sister Birthday gifts. The dinner is an annual
event in the club and is looked forward to with anticipation.

Mrs. Cornelia Smith accompanied Rev. and Mrs. Clapp to Lookout Sunday
afternoon where Rev. Clapp held church services.

Mr. and Mrs. William Armstrong were visiting Bill's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. E. B. Armstrong on Willow Creek Sunday. Bill is employed at the S.
J. Thompson ranch.

A stork shower was given at the home of Mrs. Imo Smelcer Friday
afternoon honoring Mrs. Norris Myers. About Niles and Mrs. Eva Blair
were co-hostesses. A quizz game of nursery rhymes and other guessing
games were enjoyed. Mrs. Myers received many lovely and dainty gifts.

Those who attended the trustees institute at Alturas Thursday were Mrs.
Laura Walker, Bart Steele and cyril Mamath, trustees of the Adin high
school. Mrs. Dorothy Page represented the Adin elementary shcool. Mrs.
L. H. Monchamp, Mrs. Jessie Hayes and Albert Joiner trustees of Lookout
elementary school.

Mrs. Maud Chapman has resigned her position as teacher of home making
and commercial studies at the local high school to accept a civil
service appointment as teacher in the Islands. The trustees were
fortunate in securing the services of Mrs. Louis McKennon who will take
the place vacated by Mrs. Chapman.

The 20th Century Club combined business with pleasure at their last
meeting at the home of Mrs. Anne Pickard. After the business meeting
Mrs. Ella Harper mysteriously vanished to reappear later with cake and
ice cream and led the ladies in the old familiar song "Happy Birthday to
You". The bewildered hostess realized that some one had not forgotten
her natal day.

Mrs. Robert Miglian of Long Beach arrived in Adin Friday evening to
spend a couple weeks with her home folks Mr. and Mrs. Keith Edgerton and
other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Ella Harper and Mrs. Minnie Chace went to Alturas this week on jury
duty.

Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Gould were business callers in Adin Monday, from
Round Valley. They returned here recently from Yreka where they had
gone after selling their ranch near Lookout. They are staying for the
present with their daughter and son in law Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Kresge.

Plan to attend the bazaar given by the ladies of the Mission Circle
which will be held in the near future.

Ralph Holms of Bieber was a business caller in Adin Tuesday. Mr. and
Mrs. Holms recently made a trip to San Francisco with their little boy
to consult a heart specialist.
