Seeking information about my grandmother, Florence Ray who was born in
Monterey in 1871. Her brother Frederick was also born in Monterey but in
1872. Her father was Frederick Ray born about 1829 in Nantucket Mass. Frederick
Ray's ancestors were Nantucket whalers and the family had been on Nantucket
Island since about 1697. Frederick died in Monterey in 1913 but is buried
in the Mother Lode town of Jackson. My great grandmother's first name was
possible Ewina or Euina or ?, but it did appear to start with an E according
to the 1880 Monterey census. Also would greatly appreciate any information
on my great grandmother.
