I've been doing some research of homesteads in So. Mo. Co. and Northern SLO Co. In the Castro Genealogy book it says that Fred Forbes, born 1874, married Clementine Castro, born 1880. Does not give a marriage date.
In Tid Casey's book "Padres & People of San Antonio Mission she says, "J. Alonzo Forbes & George Dutton transport Father Ambris to a ranch where he dies in the arms of his friend Sothenes Garcia."
At the URL listed below you will find the homesteads of James Forbes for 160 acres, issued on 9-27-1892 in SLO. His daughter Ann Forbes was also issued a homestead 160 acres. Other Forbes are listed there as well, James Alonzo Forbes in Monterey Co. for 80 acres near the Mission. William Forbes is issued a homestead in Monterey Co just across the county line from his fathers. BLM Records; URL: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov

-August 1, 1894 Robert H. Jones of Pleyto and Miss Katherine M. Forbes of Veratina, were married at the home of the bride’s brother, William Forbes in Veratina by Judge Gould.
Charles Liddle, Justice of the Peace, performed the marriage between James Forbes and Elizabeth Beck in January of 1888. They were both of the Nacimiento area (Veratina) and the marriage was performed at the home of the bride’s parents in San Luis Obispo County.
The homesteads of James Forbes & Ann Forbes in SLO are near the Veratina district and the county line.
