NO, NO, NO, JONAS CAMP OF SOUTHERN VERMONT WAS NOT THE SON OF PHINEAS
CAMP AND MARTHA HALL. The Jonas Camp purportedly the son of Phinas Camp
was a different man. This error was made by the Automated Match/Merged
group in Salt Lake City and shown in the Ancestry File and perhaps also
in the IGI. Someone there did not check out the facts.

JONAS CAMP b. ca 1773 of Whitingham VT purchased land Aug. 27, 1799 in
Whitingham VT. (Ref: Whitingham VT Deed Records)

Jonas would have had to be at least 21 years of age to purchase land,
making his birthdate before 1778. The Jonas Camp purportedly a son of
Phineas would have been only 17 years of age in 1799 and not old enough
to purchase land.

I posted additional proof to this list in 1997, I believe, and it is
archived in this list.

PLEASE, EVERYONE PLEASE CHANGE YOUR RECORDS TO SHOW THAT JONAS CAMP OF
SOUTHERN VERMONT IS NOT A SON OF PHINEAS CAMP.

And to all of Jonas Camp's descendants and others descended from
Southern Vermont families, we would be happy to hear from you and share
information.
