Subject: [CAMP-L] Burial Place of Thomas Camp III

Good Evening to the Camps.

I was in the vicinity of the Camp Family Cemetery between Chesnee, SC and
Rutherfordton, NC on Tuesday for a family funeral (my uncle, James Baxter
Camp) and decided to allow enough time beforehand to try to find this
elusive burial ground. I took all the directions that had been published on
this list and the ones written by W.D. Floyd in his Rutherford County
Cemeteries web site. Since he had been there in 1997, I decided to use his -
which I will pass on to anyone interested.

This cemetery is located just off Hines Road in southern Rutherford County.
To get to it, go south on US221 until you cross the Broad River bridge.
Turn east (left) on the first road past the river, Hines Road. (There is an
abandoned country store on the corner. Used to be Hines Grocery.) Go about a
mile until you cross a creek. The cemetery is down the driveway by the side
of the creek and is just before you get to the sand business, on the left.

I found these roads with no trouble - until I got to the driveway by the
side of the creek. There is a steel cable stretched across it, and about 50
feet down the driveway there is a locked metal gate across the road. After
the funeral, I put some Camp cousins on the trail of who owns the land and
who might have the key. Anyone interested in what I might learn, please
contact me off-list.
