Subject: [CAMP-L] Books by Jeannette Holland Austin

During the past week or so I posted a reference to a book by Jeannette
Holland Austin, "CAMP/CAMPE of England, Virginia, N. C., Georgia (1630 -
1987)." Yesterday I received a mail-out from Genealogical Publishing
with a flyer on Southern Genealogy from Clearfield Company, Inc., 200 E.
Eager Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202, (410)625-9004. The flyer lists
two recently reprinted books by Ms. Holland (she's listed that way on
www.switchboard.com) --

"THE GEORGIANS, Genealogies of Pioneer Families," 479 pages, indexed,
paper. (1984), repr. 1998, ISBN 0-8063-1081-2. #195. Price -- $36.50.

This is a collection of 283 genealogies which Mrs. Austin compiled over a
period of twenty years as a professional genealogist. Taken as a whole,
it represents a cross-section of pioneer Georgia families, and its
publication is intended to assist others researching these same families.
. . . While this work deals with some of Oglethorpe's settlers, the vast
majority of the genealogies deal with Georgians who descend from settlers
from other states.

"INDEX TO GEORGIA WILLS," 169 pages, paper. (1976), reprl 1998. ISBN
0-8063-1112-6. #197. Price -- $17.50.

This is an index to the earliest surviving will books of Georgia counties
formed before the 1832 Land Lottery. It is not based on original wills,
since many of these have been lost or destroyed, but on verbatim copies
of wills found in county will books. Designed to simplify the research
process, this index contains the names, in alphabetical order, of about
20,000 testators, the name of the county in which the will was filed, and
the designation of the book in which the complete will can be located. A
smaller proportion of entries derive from miscellaneous estate records
such as appraisals, inventories, divisions, letters of administration,
and guardian bonds and are identified by an appropriate reference.

Note: I mentioned these references to Barbara Farrish and she suggested
that I post this on the Camp listserv. She does not have either book.
