Barbara,
THANK YOU for the post! I was at Frien Barnet in 2000 and photographed the
almshouse. We had a wonderful lunch in the little village. The locals were
mystified as to why we tourist would want to visit their village!

My husband is a commercial building contractor and was amazed at the quality
of the original construction to have survived so long. There are wonderful
inscriptions on cornerstones of the building. I wonder if we have some type
of genetic incoding as salmon do to know where to return to spawn, I had
almost no
direction as to where Frien Barnet was, yet after riding a train, a bus and
hiking on foot, found the alsmhouse as if I "knew"
the location. I also visited St. James and
felt a connection there as well. An adorable family was having a birthday
party for a small child in the community room of the church and invited us
to join in!
