Greetings,
I just recently joined this list in the hopes of getting some assistence
in researching my father's mother's family, named Ellen Dalrymple Mason.
Her parents emigrated to Ohio in the late 1880's along with her father's
brother and his family. They are surnamed DALRYMPLE. There is a family
reunion in Roseville, Ohio every summer consisting of the descendents of
these two families.
My great grandfather Archibald Dalrymple was born January 13, 1866 in
Stirling/Polmont to Archibald Dalrymple and Margaret Beattie. In
researching this branch of the family, we note that they disappear from
church records in the early 19th century though they appear in census
records. My sister (Laura Mason Campbell -- she's endogamous, I guess)
suspects they were members of the Free Presbyterians. Anyone know where
the records for this church may be?
Also researching BEATTIE (Antrim to New York 1721), John
ANDERSON/Elizabeth WILSON) (Antrim to Western PA circa 1770's), Rev John
BLACK and brother James (Ballymena, Antrim to Western PA circa 1770's),
Peter MASON (Durham to US 1880's).
Can anyone direct me to information on the Scottish contingency at the
Battle of Clontarf (1014)? Led by the Grand Stewart of Mar, I beleive.
The BEATTIE line is descended through a "Prince Godfrey" who fought
there with Brian Boru.
Also interested in collecting information on the Covenanters. John
Anderson's descendents founded three Covenanter churches in Western PA
which still survive. Have portions of the history of these churches on
line. If you'd like a download, send email.
