Charles B Campbell, age 74, passed away Thursday, November 26, 1998, at
7:45 p.m. at his residence. Mr. Campbell was born in New Boston, Ohio on
November 15, 1924, the son of William and Jessie (Nash) Campbell. He
received his education and graduated from the Fairfield School System.
Charlie enlisted in the United States Army in 1942 and served in World War
II. He received several commendation, including the Purple Heart, the
Silver Star and the French Croix de Guerre with Etoil de Bronze. Charlie
was honorably discharged from the service in 1945. He was employed by
Beckett Paper Company in Hamilton, Ohio, for 25 years, retiring due to
health. Charlie and Bertha L. Bryant were united in marriage on July 8,
1961. Charlie dearly loved his wife, Bert, his children and his
grandchildren. He spent many hours playing bridge at the Senior Citizens
Center with lots of wonderful friends. Reading and challenging himself
with crossword puzzles filled some of his free time, along with visits from
his brothers, sisters and their families.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Bertha; his daughter, Mrs.
Stanley (maria) Dunman of Fairfield and son, Guy (Kim) Campbell of
Lafayette, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley and Alex Dunman, Zack, Janae and
Kylie Campell; many siblings, including Mrs. Virgil (Mildred) Myers of
Fairfield, Enos (Daisy) Campbell of Hamilton, Howard (Maxine) Campbell of
Fairfield, Charlotte Gray of Fairfield, Paul (Yvonne) Campbell of
Fairfield, Dewey (Thelma) Profitt of Fairfield, David (Wanda) Campbell of
Fairfield, Joseph (Marilyn) Campbell of Williamsdale, Jesse (Sue) Campbell
of Fairfield, James (Winnie) Campbell of Sorento, Florida and
sister-in-law, Maribee Campbell; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenny and infant
John Ray Campbell.
The visitation will be Sunday evening, November 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m., at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio. Funeral
services will be conducted at First Baptist Church, 1501 Hamilton-Cleves
Road, Hamilton, Ohio at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30.
Memorials may be directed to VITAS Hospice Care, 1132 West Kemper Road,
Cincinnati, Ohio 45240 and First Baptist Church, 1501 Hamilton-Cleves Road,
Hamilton Ohio 45013.
