I don't always have time to read every post that I receive from the list
anymore. I am not sure why I chose this one to read. I was pleasantly
surprised to see the location in Scotland mentioned where my search dead ends.
My g-great-grandmother, Jane (jennie) McGregor, dau. of Alexander McGregor
and Mary Taylor, was born in Elgin on March 25, 1859. Alexander (Max)
McGregor was the son of Alexander(?) McGregor and Jane Campbell.
Jennie came to the United States earlier than your predecessors so I am not
sure if the information I have will be of any use to you. She came by ship
with her parents and siblings in July of 1869. The original ship's ticket is
in the possession of a distant relative of mine. My grandmother has copies of
the ticket also. I also have a copy somewhere but it is still packed with
lots of other items after our last move. If you are interested in the details
such as where they sailed from and which port they entered and the ship line
involved, please write to me with "ATTN: MARGIE" in the subject line (I will
be sure to read it that way) and I will get these details from my grandmother
for you.
