Duncan Campbell b. 1792 in Cumberland Dist. NC grew up on Hillsdale Farm in
Williamson Co.,Tennessee. He died 1873 in Bastrop, Texas. He married twice.
1) Polly Vance Aiken(daughter of Samuel and Dorcas Star Aiken) Tennessee
Three children: John Alexander,Samuel Star, and Mary Angeline Campbell.
Polly died giving birth to the third child in 1824. The Stars raised the
children.
2) Nancy Anderson( my ggg grandmother) m. Duncan July 24, 1827. They moved to
Holly Springs, Mississippi. (Marshall Co.) and had nine children. In 1851
they moved to Bastrop Co.,Texas and had one more child. They resided in
Austin, Texas for a brief periond before Bastrop. I will list the children's
names on a seperate post.
Duncan Campbell was a saddler and rancher. He also owned a float mill in
Texas.
He fought in the War of 1812 with the Tenn. Millitia at the age of 19. His
service papers state that he was 5ft'11, fair complexioned, with blue eyes
and black hair.
