Cecile Harrell:
You may find a lot of help in the following publication'
"The Kentucky Explorer" -- September, 1996 -- Pages 79 & 80, Number 33
in a
Series: Wherein it reviews, "Kentucky Genealogy From Dr. John J.
Dickey's
Diary", Under the heading of James Campbell it reviews the family of
John
Campbell & ? Couch. Also several other Campbell families located in the
area
of Walkers creek area of North Carolina, which is a tributary of the
New
River. The family being located close enough to have rolled a hogshead
of
tobacco to market in Charleston, NC in a day.
It tells the story of the movement of this group of families migration
into
Knox, Harlan & Perry Counties, KY.
Could be this will effect a large number of Campbell's as this appears
to
have been a large group of related Campbell relations.
Good luck in your search. I found the publication in the Allen County
Library.
Now, If you have been searching john Campbell's, I feel akin some what,
as I
search a for John Campbell & Jane Ritchey believed to have been born &
married in Franklin Co., PA. (previously Cumberland County) in 1786 -
1790.
My John & Jane then went into Hamilton Co., Ohio, abt 1810, on to Scott
Co.
IN. abt. 1820 and to Henderson Co., IL. in spring of 1829 where they
died,
Jane 1851 & John 1868.
If you have ran across this family in your searched please drop a line,
note
or e-mail.
