Deaths (02/22/00) BUMSTEAD _ Ivan James passed away at his home in
Vancouver on Thursday, February 17th, 2000. Mr. Bumstead is survived by his
wife, Sumire, his son, George, and his daughter, Lysandra. He is also
survived by brothers, Lloyd of Owen Sound, Ont., and Glen of Chatsworth,
Ont., and sister, Ruth Skippen of Owen Sound. Mr. Bumstead was formerly the
Alberta Government Agent General in Tokyo, Japan and also served as the
first Canadian to hold the full-time position of Secretary General of the
Junior Chamber International (Jaycees). He is greatly missed by his family
and all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February

Deaths (02/22/00) BURYNIUK _ Edward, born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, entered
this life on October 8, 1930 and began his journey to the next one on
February 18, 2000. Ed passed away peacefully in Lions Gate Hospital with his
family at his side. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr.
Donald MacRitchie for his special care in Prince George and to Dr. Peter
Schwarz and the Lions Gate Palliative Care team who cared for Ed and his
family with compassion, dignity and respect. A celebration of Ed's life will

Port Coquitlam, passed away peacefully February 17, 2000 at Eagle Ridge
Hospital. She was born on April 22, 1918 in Bridgend, Wales. She is now
reunited with son Terry and her husband Leo. She will be dearly missed by
her loving family: son Ken (Adela); daughter Pam (Ken); grandchildren Brenda

Deaths (02/22/00) JAMES _ Jerrold Garfield passed away peacefully on
February 20, 2000 at the Finnish Manor in Burnaby, in his 90th year. Jerrold
was born in Lemburg, Saskatchewan on April 14, 1910 and was raised in
Rocanville, Saskatchewan. He was a resident of Surrey for 54 years. Jerrold
was the loving husband of Sigrid Mary (Lauttamus) and father to David (Joy),
Donald (Linda), Eleanor and Calvin. He was predeceased by his sister, Peg
and brothers Wes, Joe and Boyd and is survived by his sister Mary Leith and
brother, Frank Brownlee. He is lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren,
Richard, Jennifer (Dave), Tania (Dino), Coreena, Steven, Lisa, Alison,
Justin and Matthew and 1 great-grandchild, Megan; as well as many relatives
and friends. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Peter Segato
and the staff of the Finnish Manor for all the care and compassion given.

Deaths (02/22/00) KOCH _ Thomas William passed away peacefully surrounded
by family on February 18, 2000 in St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver. He is
survived by his loving wife of 47 years, June; his children, Gregory
(Winnie), Anthony (Katrina), Catherine, Timothy (Sharon) and Jamey; 2
grandchildren, Jennifer and Philip and other relatives and friends. Tom was
an award-winning producer/director with the CBC in the Public Affairs
Department for over 20 years. He will be remembered for his accomplishments

peacefully at home on Saturday, February 19th, 2000. He will be lovingly
remembered by Agnes, his wife of 59 years; daughters, Lynne (Sig)
Schingnitz, Sharon (George Kincaid) Radcliffe, and son, Michael (Dianne)
Radciffe; grandchildren, Erika, Michael and Peter Schingnitz and brother,

Timothy. Dad was born in Merritt, B.C. on March 15th, 1915. He spent his

February 18, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 26,
1942 in Ulm, Germany, he eventually became a resident of Canada in 1961

Glasgow, Scotland. Passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital on

Deaths (02/22/00) WHYTE _ George Murray Clement passed away suddenly on
Thursday, February 17, 2000. Born March 31, 1934 in South Porcupine,
Ontario, George will be sadly missed by his loving wife and best friend,
Judi; his children, Murray, Mary Beth (John), Graham (Lola), George Jr.
(Allison) and Adam, Wade (Paula), Robbi-Layne (Neil) and his most precious
grandchildren, Mathew, Cody, Dane, Austen, Hunter and Samantha. He is also
survived by his in-laws, Jack and Lil McLafferty; his sister, Beverly
Bernardo (Elio) and her children and Buddy Whyte, the mother of his
children. Widely known in the real estate profession, George had been a
salesperson and agent for the past 36 years. He was a former co-owner of
Mitten Realty on the North Shore and most recently worked with Judi at
Prudential Sussex Realty in West Vancouver. He was a member and past
director of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and a past president
of the North Vancouver Division of that Board. He served on the Real Estate
Council from 1986 until 1992 and again from 1996 to the time of his death.
He was elected Vice-Chair of the Council in 1998 and as Chair in July, 1999.
He was active in a number of community organizations including President of
the North Shore Community Concerts. He loved his wife, family, friends, the
real estate business, a golf game and the Lord. Prayers will be held at 6:00
p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, at St. Anthony's Parish, 2337 Inglewood,
West Vancouver. The funeral service will be held at St. Anthony's Parish at
11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 24. A celebration of George's life will

Born in Richardson, Saskatchewan. Wife of the late Albert E. Wright. Lived
in Regina until they moved to B.C. in 1974. Sadly missed and survived by her

Terry Luedtke (Linda Humphreys and family); great-grandchildren Cristine
