ADAMS _ Captain Derrick P. Aged 84, passed away at Lions Gate Hospital November 22, 2001, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by wife Mary. Survived by daughter Deborah; granddaughters Leah and Alana; niece Juliette and nephews Rogin and Nigel Gallienne of New Zealand. Born in England, Derrick served the British and Canadian Merchant Marine. Known in Vancouver for involvement with Marine electronics until age 81. No service by request. In Derrick's memory, donations to the Vancouver Children's Hospital would honour his name.

ADOLF _ Ernest, aged 73, of Port Coquitlam, passed away on November 29, 2001 in Eagle Ridge Hospital. He is survived and greatly loved by his wife, Adeline, sons David (Debbie) and John (Jan), daughter Terry (Geoff), 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. His beginnings as a salesman of Watkins Products in rural Saskatchewan eventually led, after many other pursuits, to a successful real estate career on the West Coast. Ernie loved to golf but when he was forced to give up the game, his energies turned to scouring the flea markets for old anniversary clocks which he lovingly restored. His innate sense of humour brought laughter to all who knew him, including his breakfast girls at The Pantry, Ricky's and The White Spot. Through our tears, we laughed with him, to the end. Special thanks to the caregivers at the Vancouver Cancer Clinic who, with their compassion and care, brightened and extended his life for the past ten years. Many thanks also to th!
e nurses at Eagle Ridge Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. There will be no service by request.

CHETTLEBURGH _ Terence Robins (Terry) passed away peacefully at home in Metchosin on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. Born in Telkwa, BC, in 1915, he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen. Remembered and missed by son Peter (Deirdre); daughter Ann (Bill); and grandchildren Sarah, Simon, Des and Jan. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7 at 12:30 pm at the Heritage St. Mary's Anglican Church, 4354A Metchosin Road in Metchosin. Reception to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. EVANS _ Ivor William Evans late of Abbotsford, passed away on November 25, 2001 at MSA Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer, with family at his side. He was 69. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Leona; daughters, Sherry (Roy) Evans and Lori (Rick) Willems; 5 grandchildren, Andrew and Amy Willems, Lola, Lacey and Lauren Evans, all of Abbotsford. Will also be missed by brother, Victor (Edith) Evans; brother-in-law, Thomas Barr; daughter-in-law, Leanne Evans and many family members and friends. He was predeceased by son, Mark William Evans; brothers, Morris and Raymond Evans; sister, Lorna Barr; parents, William and Christine Evans and granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Evans. Born and raised in New Westminster, B.C., Ivor started a successful and endorsing business partnership in the grocery and real estate industries in Abbotsford in 1964. He was Past President and member of the Abbotsford Lions Club. Ivor was an avid golfer, enjoying winters in sunny Palm !
Desert and summers on the Chilliwack golf course. He spent his retirement with family, good friends and business associates. A true gentleman to the end. PHILLIPS _ George Harshaw passed away on November 30, 2001, in the Polson Multi Care unit of Vernon Jubilee Hospital, at age of 82 years. Resident of Vernon for the past 27 years, formerly of Vancouver where he owned and operated GH Phillips Contracting for many years. Survived by his loving wife Enes; daughter Elaine (Dan) Barbour of Vancouver; son Gordon (Kathy) of Cranbrook; four grandchildren: Sean, Chandra, Chad and Adam; brother Archie Phillips of Celista, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. SCHRADER _ Merl Samuel Schrader born March 28, 1931 passed away peacefully November 29, 2001 at Eagle Ridge Manor after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Predeceased by his mother Kay Smith. Merl will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jessie, son, Tyler (wife Cindy) daughter, Teresa (husband Tom), grandson, Matthew, great grandchildren, Ryland and Jadin, brother, Allen Smith (wife Verna), nephews, Collin and Jeff and many dear friends. Merl will always be remembered for his love of new challenges and his joy for life. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Eagle Ridge Manor who took such special care of Merl and became like family. SMITH: Patricia Nancy Elizabeth (nee Watkins) - 1926-2001 - passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's, on Friday, November 23, 2001 in White Rock, B.C. with her family by her side. Pat is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack, of White Rock; son George (Doreen) and their children Lauren and Grant, of Richmond, B.C. by daughter Wendy of Winnipeg and by 3 nieces, Claire (Don) Smart of Altamont, MB., Marilyn (Gary) Vigar of Holland, MB. and JoAnn (Ron) Jamault of Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB. As well, she has numerous cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Pat was born and raised in Winnipeg (Riverview) and Rathwell, MB. She obtained a B.Sc.H.Ec. from the University of Manitoba before her marriage in 1948. She then became a full-time homemaker, a volunteer at the Manitoba Craft Guild and an active participant with Jack in the curling community. The family wishes to thank, from our hearts, the doctors and wonderful staff at the Peace Arch Hospital, from the Extended!
