CRISTOFOLI _ Raymond Ferrucio was born November 5, 1937 and raised in Trail, BC. He passed away peacefully in his sleep November 26, 2001 at his home in New Westminster. Ray had many callings in his life. He studied with the Franciscan Brothers in Eureka, Missouri and left them to join the U.S. Army finishing his tour in Bad Kissingen, Germany. He went on to complete his Education degree at Notre Dame University in Nelson, B.C. Throughout his life he worked as an elementary school teacher, letter carrier, taxi driver and security officer. Poetry has always been a passion of Ray's and in 1993 he won a national poetry contest with the poem "Ode to Peace". Ray's Christian beliefs always played a central role in his life and he self published two poetry books based on his faith, the 1st being "The Final Edition Old and New Testaments!" in 1995 and the 2nd "The Final Edition-My Testament" in 2000. Ray is predeceased by his father Isaia Cristofoli, his grandparents Tita and Maria !
Cristofoli and Pietro and Maria Del Bucchia. He is survived by his wife Barbara Cristofoli, his mother Iole Cristofoli, his three brothers Ed (Shirley), Allan (Monica), and Nino (Kathy), his two sisters Linda (Ernie) and Julie (Mike), his son David Cristofoli (Catherine) and his granddaughter Briannah Cristofoli, plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He has gone on to a better place but will be sadly missed by those he left behind. Good Bye Dad. I love you.

FONG _ Lily (nee Wong) December 4, 1924 - 2001, on the morning of her 77th birthday. Predeceased by her husband, Dick, and brother, Father Fred. A caring and devoted mother, she will be lovingly remember by her children, Kelvin (Edna), Steven (Jillian), Vivian (Grant), Rodney and Evelyn (Clive). Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Sarah, Adam, Paul, Rachel, Elysha, Derek, Evan, Cameron and Daniel. Sister Anne, brothers Gim (Jan), Allan (Yvonne), Billy, Jackie (Kim), many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. She is survived by her loving family; her husband Ian; daughters Wendy Josefowicz of Los Angeles, CA, Sandra Harris of Ottawa, ON, and Bridget Harris of Calgary, AB. No memorial service is planned but it is suggested that anyone who wishes should make a donation to Breast Cancer Research at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, ON in recognition of the considerate and expert treatment provided during a lengthy illness.

HORVATH _ Barbara Carol, born February 28, 1945 in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away suddenly December 1, 2001 at her home in Cloverdale. Barb was predeceased by her husband George in October 2000. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Margaret; granddaughters Ashley and Alana; brothers & sisters; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many, many close friends. KAMINSKI _ Dustin Bryn Wilhelm. Born in Kamloops on 15 July 1973, died 24 November 2001 in Richmond. He is sadly missed by his mother Isabella, his grandmother Sophie, and his partner Dean. Dustin's extended family includes his uncle Leonard, aunt Koren, cousins Leya and Thea; as well as his birth mother Carol and sisters Ali and Erika in Kamloops. In Dustin's short and turbulent life he learned to speak French fluently; he was a keen Sea Cadet; he had a love for animals; and he taught himself to work on computers and cars. Dustin's many friends were graced with his life and sparkle. Cremation will be followed by a memorial service in the new year. Friends who wish to make contributions to a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers may do so. Dustin was a warm and loving soul.

KELLY _ Dorothy Norman (Dolly). Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. Former wife of hall of fame swimming Coach Percy Norman. She is survived by her children Ralph, Ernie and Eleanor and by her sister Jane Comarity, Ft. James, nephews Alan Bunker, Smithers, Peter Mathieson, Victoria, nieces Jacqueline Bunker, Burnaby, Marilyn Bunker, 100 Mile House, cousins Julie Salt, Nork Yorkshire, England, and Betty Sloan, Birkenhead Merseyside, England. She was Grandma to 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dolly was born April 12, 1906 in Toronto, Ontario, to J. Sedgewick and Eleanor Cowper. She is predeceased by 3 sisters, Nellie, Marjorie and Constance. She was also predeceased by members of the Norman and Williams clans. Dolly really enjoyed the Norman/Williams family functions, where she will be missed. There will be a celebration of life in her honour on Sunday, December 9th, 1:30-4:30 p.m. at 1621 6th Avenue, New Westminster. No funeral by Dolly's reque!

BROWNE _ Sharon Susan (formerly Johnson) (nee Luck), April 24, 1948 - December 2, 2001. With her family and friends by her side, Sharon courageously fought her battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father and mother, Fred and Evelyn Luck. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Tracy Hass (Karl) and grandsons Kyle and Jordon. She is survived by husband Craig and his children Garth and Tara and mother-in-law Jean Browne; also uncle and aunt Bill and Grace Luck and cousins Ben, Connie and Chris. Sharon will be fondly remembered by many dear friends. BUCKHAM _ Ariel (nee Nicholson) formerly of Edmonton _ born December 23, 1907 in Dauphin, Manitoba, died peacefully December 4, 2001 at Amherst Private Hospital, Vancouver. Predeceased by her loving husband Roy (1965) and sister, Alice Jackson of Edmonton. She is survived by her brother Norman Nicholson of Edmonton; her four children Barbara McKay (Don) of Rossland, Donald (Bernice) of Kelowna, David (Liz) of Richmond, Brenda Rhodes (Jim) of Vancouver; her 10 grandchildren (Doug, Bruce, Heather and Rob; Darrell, Rod and Val; Kent, Ariel and Janice); 13 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mum's early years were in Edmonton where she met Roy and raised their four children. In 1956 the family moved to B.C. and Mum renewed her passion for painting, which she started as a teenager and continued for the rest of her years. Inspired by nature: the mountains, trees and shores of B.C. were subjects for her creative and imaginative works. Ariel will be missed by !

HUGHES _ Howard Ashley (Hoop) was born in Vancouver May 30th, 1946, and passed away peacefully November 30th,2001 in his loving wifes arms. Howard fought a valiant battle with liver cancer for 2 1/2 years, and achieved his goal - "freedom 55". Predeceased by his father Ken in 1991 , and mother-in-law Evelyn Burton in 1997. Howard is lovingly remembered by his wife Stephanie, mother Margaret, brother Michael, sister-in-law Linda, favorite niece Ashley; son Shawn, daughter-in-law Wendy, 3 adorable grandchildren, Lathen, Sheldon and Stacy-Marie, daughter Teura and honorary daughters Katrina and Elizabeth. From 1962 to 1970 he worked in media at CKY radio and CJAY TV in Winnipeg and then BCTV. He then became an IATSE member and freelanced in film sound. In 1972 he changed career direction, got his Class 1 License, joined the Teamsters, and started "trucking" . He worked for American Cartage, then Mitchell Bros, and finally for Clark Reefer Lines where he found his niche and his !
soulmates for life. In 1992, he began working for the Motion Picture Industry in the transportation department. This work became a passion, even after his health failed him. Howard had a strong vision of being unique and was guided by his principles. Howard will be fondly remembered by family, friends and his teamster brothers. Many thanks to the TLC team that helped him on his journey, Heather, Michael, Theresa, Larry, Doris and all who have shown their support. Thanks to special friends Jan and Nancy for their monthly soup and jam deliveries from Williams Lake. Thank you to Dr. Ron Joe, Wendy, Julie for their great care, Dori for all her help, Dr. Ed Dubland and the palliative team at Burnaby General for all their compassion. A private Memorial Service was held for Howard. There will be a Celebration of Life for friends and family at a later date. LeBLANC _ (Melanson), Mona (nee White) _ on December 5th, 2001 after a long life. She is survived by her five children, Anne Paris (Ray), Henry Melanson, MaryEllen Gillian (Robert), Michael Melanson (Valerie), Patrick Melanson (Wendy); and 9 grandchildren, Tracy, Bryan, Nicole, Marc, Eric, Adam, Ian, Sara, Levi and 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Joseph White of Ottawa, and several nieces and nephews. Mona was predeceased by two husbands, Eric Melanson and Doug LeBlanc. She was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick. The eldest of 7 children, Mona helped raise her younger brothers and sister when their mother died. Her first husband, Eric Melanson, was killed in a Queen Charlotte Airlines crash in 1951. Mona raised their five children as a single parent. Her children were the centre of her life and all 5 were with her during her last few days. She passed on her sense of humour, quick wit and love of music to her children. Mona led Brock House seniors' ch!
oir for over 20 years. Many thanks to the staff at Amherst Hospital who took wonderful care of our mother especially in her final days. Cremation has taken place. MEISTER _ Inez Jeanette born November 21, 1918 in Alliance, Alberta, passed away suddenly on December 5, 2001 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC. Inez is survived by her loving husband, Bill and 5 children, Bob (Julie), Gary (Susie), Bill (Eileen), Glenda (George), Dale (Joan) and 14 wonderful grandchildren. Inez loved Music and taught Piano class in Edmonton schools for many years, she especially loved teaching the children. PICKERELL _ Leonard David, born September 30, 1919 in Leslie, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on December 4, 2001 at Langley Memorial Hospital. Len's memory lives on through Marguerite, his wife of 60 years; and their children Garry (Judy), Jack (Lorna), Vickie and Rhonda; 3 grandchildren Wayne, Debra (Todd), Joel; 2 great-grandchildren Kennedy and Logan; sister Molly and brother Jack. Len proudly served his country as a tank crew commander in the Lord Strathcona's Horse Armoured Regiment during WW II. Upon returning home he embarked on the long journey of raising his family, one more task he did proudly. He retired as a Government Agriculture Inspector. "Lenny" will always be remembered for his sense of humour, his family BBQ's, and his love for his farm. SHACKER _ Olga Margaret (Morie) Schacker passed away peacefully at the Hanna Alberta Long Term care Facility on December 4th at the age of 92 years. She was born in Sayabec, Quebec, raised in Edmonton and moved to Hanna with her husband, Ralph Shacker in 1935. Olga participated in the family furniture business, Farmers' exchange, was a member of the IODE, Eastern Star and a devoted Catholic. Olga was brought up in a period when good manners and lady like behavior were espoused. Thus she was a lady to the end and that mixed with her tough mindedness and fighting spirit came through again and again as her life was closing. She will always be remembered and loved by her two children, Marilyn and Morie and their families, her nephews and nieces, her brother Marshall Morie, her sister-in-law Margaret Shacker and her dear friend Freda Geuder. Mass of Christian burial will be held December 8th at St. Georges' Catholic Church, Hanna, Alberta with Father Kramer celebrant.

VIITANEN _ Mrs. Kerttu Viitanen passed away in the Finnish Manor, Burnaby, B.C. Monday, December 3rd, 2001. Born at Grantham, B.C. Mrs. Viitanen resided at Gibsons from 1970 to 1999 at which time she moved to Finnish Manor and was 85 years of age. Predeceased by her husband Urho in 1977 and by her sister Saida in 1999, Mrs. Viitanen is survived by 2 daughters, Lea George, Crawford Bay, B.C., Senja Gluck-Viitanen, Texas; her daughter-in-law Christine Belcher, Gibsons, B.C.; grandchildren, Delia Ibey and Karl Viitanen both of Madeira Park, B.C. as well as other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private cremation has been entrusted to Devlin Funeral Home, Gibsons, B.C. A memorial service and burial of the Urn in Seaview Cemetery will be held in the spring of 2002 and will be announced by Devlin Funeral Home.

WOODWARD _ Bruce George, suddenly on November 30th, 2001 age 55. Predeceased by his father, Gordon in 1983. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Margaret, brother, Douglas, nephew , Eric, and cousins, Philip, Palmer (Linda), Wendy Reekie (Bob), and Elizabeth Newall (Ken), and Shannon Andres (Richard), and their children. As president of Whistler.com Systems, Inc. Bruce will be sadly missed by his employees, business associates and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 10th, at 1:30 p.m. at Willingdon Church, 4812 Willigdon Avenue, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Willingdon Church Youth Summer Camps or a charity of your choice.

YOUNG _ Kim William Marshall. Born January 30th, 1952 in Edmonton, Alberta died peacefully with dignity on November 30th, 2001 surrounded by his closest family members at St. Paul's Hospital due to complications as a result of lymphoma. Kim is survived by his wife Linda Jukes, family and friends. Kim was a long time employee of the Vancouver School Board and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 963. Kim was passionate about environmental causes and loved cycling. A bench in his memory will be placed in his community in Burnaby so that fellow cyclists can take a rest and appreciate nature's gifts. No service by request. If desired, donations can be made to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation.
