McKINNEY - James S. July 13,1934December 8,2001 Jim left us early on Saturday morning after suffering a sudden heart attack. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where as a boy he showed an avid interest in the rocks, fossils, shells and artefacts that were to remain his lifetime passion. After graduating from Oklahoma University with an MSc in Geology, Jim spent his career in the mining industry. His work took him to many parts of the globe including Africa, Australia, South America and Canada's far North. Jim was a man of many interests. He made models of aircraft and sailing ships, collected prehistoric spearheads, loved elephants and was fascinated by gold. He was a good friend, teacher, mentor, colleague, father and husband. A man of great character, wit and courage, Jim will be hugely missed by his wife Jane, son Steve, grandsons Michael and Jayson, and the many others who were close to him. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 275!

SARSFIELD - Ernest William. Born in Liverpool, England on May 12, 1927. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Monday, December 3, 2001. Survived by his loving wife Marina; daughter Ann Gilchrist (Terry); grandchildren, Kirk, Connor, Luke and Sasha. Fondly remembered by Mary, and by his many friends in Canada and England. Special thanks to Drs. Haniak and Creedon, and the ICU staff at Lions Gate Hospital. A memorial service was held at the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooett Road, North Vancouver on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

HUNTER - M. Louise. Passed away peacefully December 3, 2001 in West Vancouver, age 88. Predeceased by husband William Roy in 1952. Survived by son W. John (Ann); four grandchildren and seven great-grand-children. No service by request.

GREENWELL - Thomas Sanders. 1926-2001. Died December 4, 2001 at Lions Gate Hospital. He came from Birtley, Newcastle on Tyne, England, a geordie. Survived by brothers, sisters and friends in that area. Son Paul, daughter Lynn (Iain), grandchildren Sarah and Lewis. THOMSON - Robert William (Bob). Born in Vancouver, B.C. on January 31, 1926. Died Monday, December 10, 2001 at Lions Gate Hospital. Survived by brothers John and Jim, sister Dorothy Alcock, brother-in-law, Charlie Winch, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by brother Tom and sisters Betty Haines and Jeanie Winch. Bob was a veteran of WWII He drove for the forestry industry and BC Hydro. Bill, as the family called him, will be remembered for his ready smile, teasing and readiness to help. He will be especially missed by great-niece Julie and Eric Clark. No service by request. SINCLAIR - Helen Mabel (nee Roddis). Passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2001 at her home in West Vancouver, in her 88th year. Predeceased by her devoted husband Bruce in 1990. Survived by son Ted (Andrea); grandmother of Mark, Scott (Kelly) Snider, Barbie (Bryson) Milley, Kelly and Lisa Snider; and great-grand-mother of Owen, Spencer Snider and Grace Milley; also survived by sisters, Dorothy and Hilda. She was involved for over 40 years in the dental supplies industry in B.C. with her late husband Bruce, Ted and Pat. She leaves many relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. A memorial service will be held at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine Drive, West Vancouver at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2001 for close family and friends. EMANUELE - Dorothy Bernice. (nee Copeland). Born October 22, 1922 in New Westminster. Passed away suddenly on December 7, 2001 in North Vancouver. Predeceased by her loving husband John 1998 and her sister Lorraine 1991. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her four children Sharron (Jim), Dennis (Cheryl), Robert (Kim) and Gordon; and five grandchildren Chris (Stacey), Matthew, Jennilee, Samantha and Alex; and two great-grandchildren Marley and Hayden. She is also survived by two brothers Grant (Kay) and Al (Sherry) and her sister-in-law Dorothy. There will be no service at Dorothy's request but there will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at 1930 Panorama Drive, North Vancouver (Deep Cove) at 1:00 p.m. For details call Sharron 604-929-4301. PATERSON - Edward Roy. Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on December 6, 2001. Survived by his loving wife Esther, sons Dale (Susan), Greg (Laura); daughter Heather (James); ten grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Edward is predeceased by his mother and father. Ed had a long and successful career at Canadian Pacific Railway. DICKEY - Wanda G. Passed away peacefully in North Vancouver, on December 6, 2001 at the age of 84 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons David and Duncan and his wife Betty; four grandchildren Krista, Shannon, Shawn, and Tara; great-grandchild Rebecca; as well as sister-in-law Joey Dickey. Her loving husband Douglas E. Dickey predeceased her in 1986. She will be fondly remembered for bringing a sense of grace, dignity and beauty into everyone's lives. MORELL - Mary Dorothy. Mary Dorothy (Dora) Morell passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2201 at the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Stellarton, Dora was the daughter of Edmund and Violet Hartling. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Lourdes parish, and a long time member of the Lourdes Catholic Women's League. Though a very private person, Dora was well-known and loved in her community. She happily filled her later years with a variety of hobbies and pursuits. Primary among these was her crocheting. Her fine handicrafts are proudly displayed in homes throughout North America and Europe. Dora leaves behind her loving children Peggy (Gunther) Munzel, Vancouver, B.C., Dorothy (Bob) Wadden, Halifax, Brian (Phyllis) Morell, New Glasgow; and daughter-in-law Bertha Morell, Nepean, ON; grandchildren Linda Blake, Theresa Morell, Julie and Mark Munzel, Karen Wadden, and Mandy Morell; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer,!
Matthew, Kristal, and Robert; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Rennie, her son Malcolm, and her grandson Sean Wadden. She was the last member of her birth family, having lost brothers Malcolm, Gordon (Sikey), Joseph, Bernard and sisters Rose and Monica. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at 11:00 a.m., with interment of ashes to follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. The family requests that no flowers be given. Anyone who wishes to commemorate her life with a donation to charity is encouraged to do so.
