SLATTERY_ Alan Raymond. Ray died peacefully December 25th, 2001 at Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island. He was 93 years old. He was predeceased by his loving wife Edna, devoted daughter Bev Williams, and only grandson David. He is survived by his granddaughters Laurie Taylor, Sandy (Harold) Harkema, Rhonda (Daryl) Little; great grandchildren, Jason, Adam, Ryan,Jacquie, Ray, Val, Jessica, Adriane, Hayley and several great great grandchildren, and his Sister Eva Yurebek of California, and many other family members in the United States and Canada. Ray was born May 5th 1908 in Bournemouth, England. He lived most of his life in Vancouver where he was very involved in many organizations. Ray moved to Salt Spring Island in 1991. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1945, worked for the Vancouver City Police for 35 years, then worked for the Dental Board of British Columbia for a further 12 years. Ray was a bright star in all our lives. A rare sole that!
did and said only good wonderful things. He made us smile with his wit, compassion, and consideration for others. Ray made this world a better place to live. THOMPSON _ Keith Raymond, born January 29, 1925, Maidstone, Saskatchewan, passed away December 26 at Vancouver General Hospital. Keith served with the RCN, in the North Atlantic during WWII. After the war Keith was employed as an announcer at radio stations in Vernon, Trail and Victoria before being employed in radio and TV advertising sales in Victoria and Vancouver. Keith retired from Eaton's, Park Royal in 1991. He is survived by his sister Blanche Forster and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Carol Franklin, May Paul, Joey DiPalma and Keith's many friends at the Maple Crest Apartments, who assisted him during his last days. He loved you all. Also, thanks to Dr. Peter Lutsky and the nurses and medical staff at VGH. TRACY Lorne Thomas. Born January 18, 1942. Passed away December 20, 2001. Greatly missed by his sister Carol-Anne Scott, her husband Bill Scott and nephew Kevin. Tracy served as Captain of the Fire Department in the District of North Vancouver for 34 years, and was a true friend to so many people in this community. Thank you to Dr. Paul Klimo whose outstanding efforts gave Trace some time and for always being accessible and kind. Our thanks to the nursing staff at Lions Gate Hospital (Chemo Division) who achieve so much for their patients in a stressful and overcrowded environment. And to Dr. R. Rogers at the Centre for Integrated Healing, who would have done anything to help Trace and his family. Thank you. Thank you to his friends who stood by him each day and a special thank you to Lynn Marchand whose long standing friendship with Tracy endured to the end and to the firefighters, District of North Vancouver - who are still reaching out everyday to help us. WILSON _ Leslie McMillan passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 31, 2001 at the age of 73 years. He had recently suffered from Leukemia, Prostrate Cancer & Diabetes. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sat. Jan. 5, at 10:30 am at the Evergreen Lodge, 4603 Evergreen Lane, Ladner, BC. He will be forever loved and missed by his brother Ian; his sister-in-law Kay Wilson; his sisters Muriel Casper and Evelyn Beaton; his many nieces and nephews, their spouses and children; and his friends. A long time Vancouver resident he worked in the Forestry Industry for years, and retired to Ladner. Mleziva, Jaroslav (Jerry) born 1921 passed away peacefully on December 25th. Predeceased by his parents Franz and Katerina, brother Joseph, sisters Jarmila and Rose (Karel) and baby son Paul. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years Martha, his daughter Kathy (Bob) Storms of Calgary, and son Peter of Langley. He is survived by his sisters' children especially nephew Pavel in the Czech Republic. Jerry grew up playing soccer. Soon after coming to B.C. in 1949, Jerry became a member of the Pacific Coast Soccer League. He also refereed the Junior League then the Seniors when he no longer played the game. He was a member of FIFA. Jerry was employed at Johnston Motors for 23 years. He enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, horse races and became an avid golfer. Dreams of visiting his homeland, relatives and old soccer buddies became a reality in the early 1990's. Thanks to the entire staff at Delta Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, Everet, her parents, Harvey and Caroline Doll and brother Stan of Terrace, B.C., brother Clarence, of Prince George, B.C. Sisters Edith Ungerer and Alberta McDonald of Vancouver, B.C. Survived by brother Gordon of Terrace, B.C., sisters Virginia Jones, of Quesnel, B.C., Marjorie MacKay and Doriel Kinneard of Victoria, B.C. also nieces and nephews. BISHOP: Dorothy Beatrice Parsons, died peacefully on December 30, 2001 in Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C., cared for by her good friends Frances McKay and Dorothy Parsons. Born in Montreal on March 28, 1914, she was the daughter of Samuel Parsons and his wife Lily Amy Pearce Nichols of Longueuil, Quebec. She is survived by her sister Alice Farrar (Ottawa), step-son Ronald Bishop (Michigan), many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly for her joie de vivre and sensible counsel. She was predeceased by her husband George Leonard Bishop who died in 1978, her sister Eileen Leslie, and brothers Ethelbert, Norman and Ernest. Dorothy was employed for many years at the C.N.R. offices in Montreal. After moving to White Rock, she was active in her church, a member of Peace Arch Hospital Women's Auxiliary, a past Grand Matron of Amaranths, a charter member of Hazelmere Golf Club, and a member of Peace Arch Curling Club. She and her husband tra!
velled extensively, enjoyed entertaining their friends in their home, and serving their community.

BECK: Hazel Marguerite. Hazel was born in Vancouver, B.C. on July 9, 1910 to Kenneth McGregor Black and Mary Lovey Rossiter. She died on December 30, 2001 at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C. She is deeply missed by her loving daughter Mary Marquerite Verbeek, beloved Grandson Ralph George Verbeek and her dear little Penny. Hazel was married to George Lewis Beck on May 6, 1936 in Canadian Memorial Church, Vancouver. George predeceased her in August, 1985. Her beloved sons Torchy and Ross predeceased in 1945 and 1948 respectively. These were the greatest sorrows of their lives. Also predeceased are her sister Leona Miller and brothers Kenneth, Wallace and Midge. She was the last surviving member of the Black family. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Vera, nephew Kenneth and nieces Lee and Barbara and a host of friends and family in Canada, the United States and Great Britain. Also missing this dear lady her life-long friend of ninety-one years Joyce Roach. She was!
an 'honorary mother' to many of the past and present staff at the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster. Mom was an outstanding musician excelling in the piano, organ and voice. She and her husband George met during an amateur production of The Red Mill. They often appeared in productions in the Vogue and Strand theatres. She delighted in attending performances of the Vancouver Symphony and the Vancouver Opera. This gracious, elegant lady devoted her life to her family, her church, music and the community. She will be deeply missed. A service to honor this remarkable lady will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1480 George St. White Rock, B.C. with The Rev. Diane Tait-Katerberg officiating. If you wish, memorial donations to C.N.I.B., St. John's Presbyterian Church, or a musical organization would be gratefully appreciated. BUSCH, Helen Winnifred Bernice (nee Carver) passed away on December 24th, 2001 at the age of 75. She is survived by her husband, Clarence. Daughters: Linda Jacobsen (Doug), Karen Antle (John), Christine Kenmuir (Doug), Pauline Lethbridge (Chris), and Sylvia Asmussen. Sons: Alec, Arnold, Leo, and Kevin (Samantha). Also 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Helen had graduated and was employed as a Psychiatric Nurse but soon chose to retire and raise her growing family. She was community-minded and quite well known for her efforts on the PoCo Trail. She enjoyed the wilderness, canoeing, and traveling to remote northern regions. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 9th, 2002 at the Grace Christian Fellowship, 2606 Kingsway, Port Coquitlam. Survived and sadly missed by her sons Warren of Brazil, Brian of Surrey and daughter Elizabeth (Coleman) Stamer (Don) of Surrey, 2 grandchildren: Scott Coleman (Kathy) of Ladner; Jackie Davison of Brazil and 2 great-grandchildren: Spenser and Shaylen Coleman of Ladner. HANNA: (Dorothy) JOAN, beloved and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Passed away December 28, 2001 after a hard fought 7 year battle with lymphoma. An avid golfer and accomplished poet, Thor will be lovingly missed by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie. VIGNAL: Lois R. - born October 17th, 1931 in Edmonton, passed away November 17th, 2001 at Langley Memorial Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children: Frank, Barry (Monika) and Judy (Dan) Preston; her grandchildren: Jesse, Jonathan, Matthew, Sam and Taylor. She is also survived by his sister Jean (Ken) Stewart and brothers Gordon Smith, Jack (Kay) Smith and Stan (Diana) Smith and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Ng and Jean; the nursing staff at LMH, Dr. Adamson and Barb McLeod for all their support and care of Mom. BUSCH, Helen Winnifred Bernice (nee Carver) passed away on December 24th, 2001 at the age of 75. She is survived by her husband, Clarence. Daughters: Linda Jacobsen (Doug), Karen Antle (John), Christine Kenmuir (Doug), Pauline Lethbridge (Chris), and Sylvia Asmussen. Sons: Alec, Arnold, Leo, and Kevin (Samantha). Also 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Helen had graduated and was employed as a Psychiatric Nurse but soon chose to retire and raise her growing family. She was community-minded and quite well known for her efforts on the PoCo Trail. She enjoyed the wilderness, canoeing, and traveling to remote northern regions. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on January 9th, 2002 at the Grace Christian Fellowship, 2606 Kingsway, Port Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Transitional Care Unit in care of Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation.

ANTONIAK - ANNA passed away on December 28, 2001 at Ridge Meadows Hospital at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by her parents Theodore and Katherine Korolick and 2 infant children, Czeslawa, Janinca. She is survived by her loving family, husband John, son Joseph (Joanne), Stephanie (Frank), grandchildren Jeffrey, Paul, Julie-Mae, James, Daniel and great grandson Michael.
