BOWER _ Howard Dennis Bower passed away in 100 Mile House, BC on December
31, 2001. Dennis was born in Craigmile, Alberta on September 18, 1922 and
moved with his family to North Vancouver in 1923, where he lived until 1993
when he moved to 108 Mile Ranch. He was a WWII veteran. Dennis was
predeceased by his wife Ruth in 1993 and is survived by his loving family,
daughter and son-in-law Denise and Billy Joe Davidson and grandson Mike of
108 Mile Ranch, sister Phyllis Diane Fisher of North Vancouver, brothers
Stan Bower (Norma) of Sardis and Ralph Bower (Joan) of North Vancouver, as
well as nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Lucky. Dennis requested no
funeral service but that his ashes be scattered in the Stanley Park Rose
Gardens beside his late wife's ashes. Dennis' quiet gentle nature will be
missed by all.

BACHMEIER_ Jacob passed away suddenly, coming home from spending the
holidays with family on December 30, 2001 at 73 years. He leaves behind his
loving wife of 50 years, Ann; their children Tony (Vicki), Steve (Kathy),
Carol (David), Peter, Sharon (Rick); 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren;
his 3 sisters, Phyllis, Theo (Mike) and App; and many more family members

BIDIN _ Peacefully on December 26, 2001, Margaret (Peggy) Isobel Bidin of
Vancouver, formerly of Squamish, aged 80 years. Predeceased by her husband
Victor in 1991. She is lovingly remembered and will be forever missed by her
daughter Rina (Peter) Kastner; three grandchildren, Amy, Sara and Sarah;
brother Bob Dornan and many nieces and nephews. Peggy will be remembered for
her great sense of humor, her love of Opera music, her sense of neatness and
cleanliness in that everything had its own place and her devout faith in
God. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, December 28th, 2001 at

BANNISTER _ Betty Ellen (nee Turkington) August 25, 1933 in Vancouver, B.C.
passed away January 3, 2002 on Gabriola Island, B.C. Survived by her loving
husband of 47 years, Ronald; her 3 children, Taryn (Allan) McKay, Lance and
Greg Bannister; 5 grandchildren, Carly (Brian) Fedyshen, Brandon McKay,
Ashton, Lauren and Adam Bannister, her adoring mother, Eileen Turkington;
her brother, David (Bev) Turkington; 2 sisters, Colleen (Bill) Dalgarno and
Trudi (Bruno) Fulde, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Betty
was born and raised in Vancouver and met the love of her life at the ripe
age of eight. She excelled in everything she did from General Brock school
to John Oliver High and right through her married life. She started teaching
elocution in her late teens and dedicated many years filled with wonderful
memories to her students. In the late 60's she was licensed as a certified
Dental Assistant and passed with top honors. She went on to work for the
City of Vancouver and eventually developed and implemented a puppet program
in conjunction with the dental hygiene program used in the elementary
schools. After retirement, she left behind many dear friends and moved to
Gabriola Island with her husband, where they enjoyed their dream home
together. Always the entertainer, she quickly made new friends and her gift
of hospitality became well known. She was a founding member of a sorority of
Beta Sigma Phi when the new chapter was formed - Preceptor Gamma Psi and
remained very involved until her last days. Her ability to build lifetime
friendships was truly a gift. She generously gave of herself to so many with
great love and passion and leaves an empty hole in many lives. Her love and
commitment to her family and God will leave a great legacy for those who
follow in her footsteps. We love you mom. Memorial Services will be held on
Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Gabriola Fellowship Church, 775 North Road,
Gabriola Island at 1:30 p.m. and on Saturday, January 12, 2002 at Maple
Ridge Community Church, 20450 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge at 1:30 p.m.

BRIDSON _ Terry born October 2, 1944 in Vancouver, passed away December 27,
2001. Survived by his beloved son, Terry Jr, family and many friends. Terry
was one of life's great guys, and will be missed by all those whose life he
touched. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 8th, 2002 at
2pm at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lilloet, North Vancouver with a reception to follow
at the McLean Residence in North Vancouver.

BROOKE _ Kenneth. Born May 1, 1916 in Vancouver and passed away November 18,
2001 at Pentecostal Lodge in Vancouver. Kenneth is greatly missed by his
Aunt Margaret Houston of Coquitlam and also his cousin John (Sylvia) Leslie
of Calgary; and numerous cousins in British Columbia. Kenneth loved walking
around the beautiful city of Vancouver and also enjoyed music. Kenneth will
be long remembered by the many lives he has touched by his generous
donations to charity. No service will be held by request of the family.

CALDER _ Mona D. (nee Hunter) born November 11, 1918 in London, England,
died suddenly at home, Wednesday January 2, 2002. Mona was predeceased by
her loving husband William Andrew Calder in 1981. Mona will be greatly
missed by her children, Hunter (Ruth), Mary (Jim) and Bill; grandchildren
James, Katie and Lachlan. Mona is survived by her sisters, Dorrie Annand and
Sheila (Vern) McDonald and many nieces and nephews. A private family service
of remembrance will be held at a later date. If desired the family would

CANDY _ Violundy Mary (Lundy). May 14th 1935 - December 18th 2001. On
Tuesday, December 18th Lundy left us peacefully after a long courageous
battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father Isadoro Boscariol and sister
Hilda Martin. She is lovingly remembered and will be forever missed by her
husband Patrick; son Jeff (Carol); daughter Sheryl (John); grandchildren,
Kyle, Jason, Kimberly; mother Ida Brait; brothers Izzy (Bernice), Willy
(Ann); sister Marg (Nick) Candy, and her many other relatives and dear
friends. Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, mentor, caregiver, she
never once complained or asked why, she only thought of others until the
very end. A service to celebrate the Life of Lundy will be held on Saturday,
January 19th, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Squamish United Church, 38014 Fourth

CHAN _ Rose Chow, born July 16, 1913 in Vancouver, passed away January 3,
2002. Daughter of the late Yucho Chow and Quon Shee Chow. Predeceased by her
husband Fong Kay Chan in 1957. Predeceased by her brother Peter and sisters
Mabel and Jessie. Survived by her two sons Gene (Deborah) and Ken (Linda);
five grandsons Stephen, Bryce, Colin, Garrett and Dean; brothers Jack and
Philip; sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Also survived by stepson
Quinn (Ann) in Moncton, NB. A funeral service will be held on Saturday,
January 12, 2002 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789
Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby. Cremation. The family respectfully declines any

CHOMICK _ John passed away peacefully at home on January 2nd, 2002. He is
survived by his loving wife Helen; son Ted (Sharon) Chomick and

COEY _ Ardelle Ethel Diane (Neilson), born January 16th, 1937 of Langley,
B.C., passed away so suddenly on January 2, 2002. Ardelle (Liz) will be
sadly missed, yet lovingly remembered by her husband Jack; daughter Sherry
(Lori) and sons John (Janie), Gary (Krista), predeceased by son Steven.
Ardelle was part of a large family; 4 sisters and 2 brothers, Art (Sandy)
Neilson, Dorothy Cameron, Donna (Doug) Bramley, Donald Neilson, Karen (Don)
Krumenacker, Susie (Mark) Justice and many nieces and nephews. Ardelle had
been blessed with 7 grandchildren - Shawna, Thomas, Justin, Joey, Jakob,
Tamara and Tishanne. Ardelle was very special to many friends and will
always be remembered for her great sense of humor and ability to always care
about others before herself. You will forever be in our thoughts and hearts.
We will never forget your unselfishness and laughter. Funeral service at
12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal
Oak Avenue, Burnaby. After service a celebration of Ardelle's life will be

DICKINSON _ William James age 81. Bill was born in North Vancouver, B.C.,
September 19, 1920 and passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2002. He
was a devoted husband and best friend to Katherine, his wife of 58 years; a
dear father to their children Ann Matheson (Earl), Bob Dickinson (Carmen),
Jay Dickinson (Kathy), Kit Miller (Jim) and a special grandpa to Brian,
Andrew, Cameron, Ross, Sean, Ellie, Crystal, Matthew and Arthur. He is
survived by his younger brother Jack Dickinson (Norma). He will be sadly
missed but joyfully remembered by his loving family and dear friends with
whom he shared his love and so many wonderful fishing, gardening,
travelling, cooking and outdoor adventures. Growing up in one of West
Vancouver's pioneer families, Bill's rich and rewarding life included years
of service in the RCAF, Air Canada (30 years), Scouts Canada (55 years) and
St. Christopher's Church. A celebration and thanksgiving for Bill's life
will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Christopher's
Anglican Church, 1068 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. A reception in the
Church Hall will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be

DRIEMEL _ John Edgar born near Pontriels, Saskatchewan on December 3, 1933,
died December 30, 2001. Predeceased by his loving wife Margaret in 1988. He
will be lovingly remembered by his son Scott Anthony Driemel (Gail) and his
granddaughters Genna and Ashley; his daughter Lisa Robinson (Ken) and
granddaughters Haley and Layne. John's devotion to his family will be
cherished by his children and his grandchildren. His ability to make people
laugh will be remembered by all who knew him. By John's own request there
will be no funeral service. Flowers are gratefully declined, those wishing
to, may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

DUNLOP _ Douglas James. Died in Providence Hospital Portland, Oregan,
December 20th, 2001. He started working with the Canadian Pacific Telegraph
in Saskatoon at 16 years. He retired from the Union as Pacific Chairman in
Vancouver. His work involved extensive travel, requiring long periods away
from home. He will be missed once again by his daughters Maureen Mitchell
and Cheryl Dunlop. "You'll be missed the most by those who loved you best".

HALVERSON _ Ole. Passed away December 22, 2001 aged 100. Born in Norway,
April 27, 1901 and immigrated to Canada 78 years ago. He leaves his wife
Margaret, son Terrence (Lynn); daughter Maureen Critchfield (Fraser); 14
grandchildren also 2 great-grandchildren in Sydney Australia; many nieces,
nephews and great nieces and nephews in Norway. As a skilled carpenter and
building contractor all his working life, and a great deal of admiration for
Bert Thomas, owner of the Northern Building Supplies also Raymond Hall and
family who he had worked for. Thank you to our Dr. Ludwig and the caregivers
in the Broadway Pentecostal Lodge for the excellent care they gave him. No
funeral by request.

friend passed away December 28, 2001 after a hard fought 7 year battle with
lymphoma. Survived by Ed, her best friend and husband of 52 years; her
family, daughter, Laurel Davies of Vancouver; and 3 sons, and families all
of Surrey, Rick, Shaun and Seth; and 3 grandchildren Katie (12), Scott (10)
and Justin (7); also 1 sister Sheila Cook of Langley. Service at the Church

INGRAM _ Edward "Ted", passed away suddenly on December 31, 2001 at
Vancouver B.C. Ted was born on July 31, 1907. He emigrated to the United
States for a period of time and returned to Canada in the early 50's. Ted's
passion was golf. As a youth he used to caddy at the Old Shaughnessy Golf
and Country Club. In fact he spent most of his working life in and around
golf courses in both Canada and the U.S. He last worked at Seymour Golf and
Country Club in the capacity of greenskeeper. He looked forward every year
to meeting with his old friends from Shaughnessy at the Annual Ex-caddies
Golf Tournament. Ted will be missed by his friends Carrie Casselman, Michael
Casselman, his wife Karen and their children Tanis and Graham also his
friends Rick and Elouise McParland. Ted will be sadly missed by many. No
service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity

JENSEN _ Torben peacefully, among friends and family, on December 23, 2001,
in Coquitlam, BC, age 70. Torben was predeceased by his brother Clifford;
his mother Elna and his father Emil Jensen. He is survived by his four
children Paul, Patricia and Karen Jensen and Maureen Fitzpatrick. He leaves
many friends and family who mourn his passing, including Norma Lawrence; his
three sons-in-law; eight grandchildren and Pat Barclay and children. Torben
was born in Winnipeg in 1931. In 1949, after graduating from high school,
Torben spent three years in the Signal Corps of the Canadian Army. In 1958,
he graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BSc in Civil
Engineering. Torben had a distinguished professional career. Early on, he
was a Plant Manager with Canadian Phoenix Steel and Pipe Ltd., then later a
Research Officer with the National Research Council of Canada, Senior
Vice-President of Kleysen Transport Ltd. and President of the Manitoba
Trucking Association. He completed his career as an Appeal Commissioner with
the Workers' Compensation Appeal Commission where he demonstrated, once
again, his hallmark qualities of integrity and astute judgement. A memorial
service will be held in Port Coquitlam, B.C. at 10:00 a.m. on January 11,
2002, at Burkeview Funeral Home and in Winnipeg on February 16, 2002, at
3:00 p.m. at St. Marks Lutheran Church.

KAPLAN _ Cindy Juanita passed away on January 1, 2002. She will be deeply
missed by her sons, Max and Joe; husband Bill; father Bud Gallon; brother
Clark and sister-in-law Leslie; sister Sandy and brother-in-law Mark and her
nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Cindy will be forever remembered for
her boundless generosity, great sense of humour and extraordinary
compassion. She had a marvelous artistic talent and expressed it in many and
varied ways. She had a deep love of family, especially her sons. She was a

peacefully with his son at his side on December 28, 2001 in Calgary,

EARL _ William Andrew (Bill), born March 8th, 1964, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Bill passed away peacefully at home on January 2nd, 2002, with his loving
family around him, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Bill will be
sadly missed by his loving wife Kathy; his father Bill; mother Dorothy; and
sister Jayne (Steve) (all of Langley); his brother John (Linda) (of Ann
Arbor, Michigan), and by his nieces, nephews and friends. Knowing him was to
love him. Bill was a kind, gentle, loving man and a true friend, who asked
for little and gave much. His strength, grace and dignity during these
difficult last few months changed everyone's lives who knew him. Special
thanks to Dr. Piotr Czaykowski, and Dr. Maureen Adamson, whose warm and
caring support gave Bill much comfort and quality of life during his last
days. Also, special thanks to all the nurses from the Palliative Care
Program, and the staff at Quebecor Printing for all their love and support
during this difficult time. A celebration of his life will be held on
January 19, 2002 at Newlands Golf and Country Club, 21025 48th Ave.,
Langley, at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer

FILICE _ Eugenio, born on April 22, 1914 in Cosenza, Italy. Passed away
peacefully at 12:25 p.m. on January 2, 2002 with his loving family at his
side in his home in Vancouver. Eugenio will be fondly remembered and greatly
missed by his wife Angela of 61 years; his children, Giovanni (Lina), Rita
(Mario), Anna (Tonino) of Italy and Maria (Domenic); grandchildren, Gino
(Luciana), Angela (Greg), Connie (Angelo), Joe (Christina), Rosamary
(Michelangelo), Adriana (Steven), Linda (Domenico) and 13 great
grandchildren in Vancouver and 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren in
Italy; and many family and friends both near and far. Prayers will be
offered in Italian on Friday, January 4, 2002 at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of
Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier St., Vancouver, where a mass will also be held on
Saturday, January 5, 2002 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at the Abbey
