2002 formerly of Victoria and Gibsons. Survived by daughter Georgina
Hargreaves; grandchildren, Patricia, Norman (Cindy), Richard (Darlene);
great-grandchildren Nicole, Tyson, Natasha, Alex and Georgina Gabrielle
Hargreaves; sister Elizabeth Boyce (Calgary).

ERHARDT _ David E., born Duval, Sask., April 19, 1915 passed away
peacefully, Monday, December 24, 2001 at George Derby Care Home. David will
be remembered by many as "Dave the Barber" who barbered for 35 years on
Jubilee Ave., in Burnaby. He was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian
Legion #83. David is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife
of 55 years, Bertha; his children: Lloyd (Linda), Brian (Karen), Sharon,
Jim, Doug (Petra); and 11 grandchildren. David is also survived by many
brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and long time friends. A special thank
you to George Derby staff for the care they provided. In lieu of flowers the
family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a
charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January
11th, 2002 at 12:00, noon at Forest Lawn, 3789 Royal Oak Ave., Burnaby.

FEDORUK _ Erna, late of Burnaby passed away January 4, 2002 age 76 years.
Predeceased by her husband Michael. Survived by loving sons Robbin and
Michael (Heather), loving daughters Nancy (Danny) and Kathy (Frank), also
brothers Bill and Norman and seven beautiful grandchildren. A celebration of
Erna's life will be held Friday January 11, 2002 at 11:00am in
Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 6th Street, New Westminster. In lieu of flowers

FITZPATRICK _ Renee, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2002 at St. Paul's
Hospital in her 89th year. Survived by her sister Carole Arnold of Las
Vegas, NV, Sarah Simpson and family of Toronto, ON. Also survived by
numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, no service will be held.

GINGRAS _ Laura Evelyn (formerly O'Brien) passed away peacefully with her
family on Monday January 7, 2002 at the age of 82 years. Predeceased by her
husbands, R. Lee O'Brien and Larry Gingras. Survived by her loving family 10
children, 12 step children, 1 sister, a multitude of grandchildren, great
grandchildren, great great grandchildren and other family members. Funeral

GRANT _ Alma Mary born December 19, 1915 in Regina, SK. Died January 4, 2002
in Vancouver. Daughter of the late George Gordon Grant and Sarah Jane
(Mahon) Grant; sister of Garnet and Ilene Grant-Bowley. Beloved aunt of
Douglas, Joan, Marian, Georgina and Barbara. She was a Librarian who worked
at the Seattle Public Library for most of her working life. Former member of
Hycroft Manor, South Granville Senior Center and Brock House Senior Center.
Alma loved good art, good music, good literature and good people. A Memorial
Tea will be held at Hycroft Manor, 1489 McRae Ave., Vancouver on Thursday,
January 10, 2002 from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Van Dusen Botanical Gardens.

ANDERSON _ Ronald W., on January 5, 2002, peacefully, and in the presence of
his family, after a short illness. Born September 26, 1938 in Lethbridge,
Alberta, Ron will be lovingly remembered as a beloved husband to wife
Doreen, best friend to daughter Teresa, and devoted son to father George. He
will also be sadly missed by his good friend Lew, his many relatives, and
countless friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In
celebration of his life, friends and family are invited to a service on
January 11, 2002 at 2pm at Henderson's Funeral home in Langley, BC. In lieu
of flowers, donations for the establishment of a scholarship fund honoring
Ron's memory would be appreciated. Ron loved mentoring young umpires in the
Langley Girls Softball Association and the Ron Anderson Memorial Umpires

CAMPBELL _ John Lewis born February 23, 1918 in Clearwater, Manitoba, passed
away December 21, 2001 at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock. Survived by his
loving wife of 56 years "Scottie"; his sister Olive (Popple); and many
nieces and nephews. Served in WWII in the 7th Field Artillery.

ARNOLD _ Dennis Edward Denny ("Dint"), born October 24, 1939, passed away
peacefully at MSA Hospital in Abbottsford, British Columbia on December 31,
2001 surrounded by family and friends. Denny spent his early years in
Alberta before moving south to the University of Mississippi on a football
scholarship. His adventuresome spirit led him to Texas and California and
careers as a rodeo cowboy, pilot, race car and drag boat driver and a 30
year career as a stunt man and stunt co-ordinator in the film industry.
Denny was inducted into the Stuntman's Hall of Fame in 1998. He was
predeceased by his father Arthur Arnold and brother Clifford Arnold. He was
loved and will be sadly missed by his mother Margaret Potter (George
Potter); brother Ken (Lynda Arnold); sister Leslie Arnold; nephew Grant
Arnold and nieces Katherine Arnold (Nevin Fishman), Barbara Arnold and
Jennifer Bertsch (Brent Bertsch). Many thanks to all his friends who
faithfully kept in touch. A memorial service will be held in Vancouver on
February 2, 2002.

BERKEFELD _ George Martin, on Saturday, January 5, 2002 in Delta. George was
born in Germany, January 17, 1904. He was predeceased by his loving wife
Elsie and son-in-law Ray LaFreniere. He is survived by sons Rolf (Karol),
Eric (Anne); daughters Karen LaFreniere, Diana (Randy) Wylie; 10
grandchildren, Grant, Debbie, Renae, Marty, Tara, Erika, Jeff, Chris,
Lauren, Erin and 4 great grandchildren, Erik, Darla, Reagan and Jenna.
George was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be dearly
missed by all. Special thanks to all staff and friends at Northcrest Care
Center for the wonderful care that our Dad received over the last 8 years. A
memorial service will be held at Northcrest Care Center, 6771 120th Street
(Scott Road), North Delta on Tuesday, January 15th at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of

BIBBY _ Lyle Vernon. Born May 19, 1930 in Salmon Arm. Lyle passed away
peacefully Saturday morning, January 5, 2002 after a brave struggle with
cancer. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Lyle is survived
by his loving wife, Geraldine; his children Linda (Bill), Ken (Simone),
David (Sheila), Leslie (Jim) and Karla; his 6 grandchildren Miranda, Leanna,
James, Billie Jean, Chloe and Krista; and 2 great grandchildren Christina
and Alisha. Thank you to Dr. Hepburn for his wonderful care and concern for
Lyle and the family. Have a safe and peaceful journey Dad/Grandpa. The

January 7, 2002. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Shelley; sons

GREER _ H. Joanne (nee Crofts) left us peacefully on January 2nd, 2002, in
Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver BC with her adoring family by her side.
Born in Monitor Alberta, July 10th, 1924. She was the daughter of Daisy and
Edgar Crofts. Joanne moved to England with her family as a child and served
with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II at RCAF headquarters
in London and at Linton - On - Ouse in Yorkshire. Joanne will be forever
loved and remembered by her husband and best friend of 51 wonderful years
G.M. "Tony" and her children, son Bryan, daughter Catherine Uhl,
daughter-in-law Roxanne and son-in-law Dale Uhl; sister Helen Robertson of
Scotland and brother Jim Crofts of Waterbeach, England. Her brother Edwin
Crofts of England predeceased Joanne. A celebration of Joanne's life will be
held on Wednesday, January 9th 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Christopher's
Anglican Church, 1068 Inglewood Ave., West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers,

HULTBERG _ Cortland Roy. Professor Emeritus UBC Music died peacefully
surrounded by love and his family on Jan. 3, 2002 while at the palliative
care unit at Peace Arch Hospital. Cort was born in Chicago, Illinois on
Sept. 5, 1931 and was predeceased by his parents John and Signe (Carlson).
He is survived by his brother Scott Hultberg (Ginny) in Arizona and by his
wife Jeanette as well as his five daughters Lisa, Barbara, Erica (Gavan
Connolly), Susan Wilson (Stuart), Jennifer Chichak (Derek) and his
grandchildren Alex, Andrew, Sam, Matthew, Stephen and Allison. He did his
undergraduate work at Northern Illinois State and earned his first Master's
Degree at U. of Illinois/Urbana then followed his parents to Arizona where
he was drafted by the US Army. He did his time and used the GI Bill to
attend the U. of Arizona where he earned his 2nd Master's Degree and met
Jeanette. While waiting for the job to become available in Vancouver he
taught in Tombstone, Arizona for 1 year, conducting the choir and directing
the drama program. 1959 brought him to UBC to become part of the initial
team that started the School of Music under G. Welton Marquis. Cort was
lucky enough to work at what he loved most, music and the enlightening of
students. He founded and conducted the UBC Chamber Singers from 1963-1993
and was invited to conduct the Phoenix Chamber Choir from 1983-1995. Cort
had so many different interests from singing in a champion barbershop
quartet in college, to playing bass in a jazz group to help his way through
school and in his spare time he arranged a few tunes, was a master gardener,
woodworker, ham radio aficionado, and couldn't pass up recording the weather
each day. We, his family owe many thanks to Dr. King, Dr. Phillips, Cheryl,
Kathleen, Elinor, and Anne at the Peace Arch Palliative Care Unit. A special
thank you to our own Dr. Don Faulkner in Richmond who epitomizes all things
a doctor can be. Donations to a Cortland Hultberg Memorial Scholarship Fund
or the Canadian Cancer Society would be welcome. We know he will be missed
by so many students who loved and admired him and the family offers their

KLASSEN _ Gerhard (George) Abram, born September 2, 1921 in Laird,
Saskatchewan, passed away surrounded by his family on January 6, 2002 at
Royal City Manor in New Westminster. Predeceased by his first wife, Roberta
Helena (nee Bruce) of 39 years (March 4, 1988) and second wife Bonnie Sue
(nee Schur) (June 5, 1997). Father Abraham Klassen; his mother Helena;
siblings Peter, Helen, Nettie, Tena and Maria. Survived by son Ken (Linda);
grandchildren Terry, Kyle and Billy; daughter Grace (Dave); grandchildren
Talena, Jesse and Christina; and his latest love Anne; his siblings Jake,
Abe, Ike, Elizabeth, Benno, John, Margaret; many nieces and nephews. He will
be greatly missed by us all. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather,
friend and co-worker. He was a well respected member of the I.L.W.U. for 37
years. He worked hard all his life and helped many family members and
others. His doors were always open and everyone felt welcome. He loved the
outdoors, family gatherings, his roses, fishing, and his church. We will
never forget you and you will live on in our thoughts and hearts. We would
like to thank the dedicated staff of Royal City Manor for the exceptional
care the last few years who made him comfortable. Rest in peace. Visitation
will be held on Wednesday, January 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Valley View
Funeral Home, 14660 72nd Ave., Surrey. Funeral Service will be held
tomorrow, Thursday, January 10, at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow Valley View

Survived by loving family, wife Stella; daughters Barbara (Philip), Irena

LEWIS _ Burt passed away peacefully January 2, 2002 at the age of 88 years.
Born in Raymore, Saskatchewan in 1913, came to BC in 1933 and resided in
North Vancouver until his death, worked in the Forest industry primarily as
a BC Government Scaler. He is survived by Alice, his loving wife of 62 years
and his only son Robert and his wife Joyce, also grandchildren, Diana and
Thomas and great-grandchildren Michelle, Nicki, and Kurk. A Memorial Service
will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 12 at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet
Rd., North Vancouver, BC.

LONGDEN (LOTT) _ Eula Beatrice, 21 July 1908 - 5 January 2002. It is with
sadness that we announce the death of Eula Longden. Eula was predeceased by
her husband Leonard in October 1974; sister Sarah Alma Kibler, June 1962 and
brother Donald Ray Lott, February 1998. Mum is survived by her brother Jack
(Doreen) Lott and sister-in-law Phyllis Lott. Also her sister and
brother-in-law Doris and Jack Cliff; her family, Jeanette (David) Tidbury,
M. Anne (George) Balkovec and L. George Longden, partner Karen Paul; her
grandchildren Sue (David) Allan, Joe Tidbury and wife Samantha Walls, Pam
(Tony) Betker, Maco (Lori) Balkovec, Lara Leanne Balkovec and step-grandson
Leonard Paul, partner Rebecca Robbins; great-grandchildren Caitlyn and
Deanna Allan and Sol William Paul; many nieces and nephews and cousins in
Victoria, Vancouver, Alberta, Ontario, England and Norway. In mum's more
active days, she was involved with P.T.A., N.A.B.A., Eastern Star chapter
#41 and Oak Bay chapter #42. Mum also enjoyed gardening, knitting,
needlework, reading, 5-pin bowling and playing cards. The family would like
to thank the staff of Aberdeen Hospital for their kindness and care of Mum
for the past 6years. Also Dr. R. Grimwood for his care and attendance to Mum
over many years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2002

LUSH _Raymond Clifford born November 19, 1917 in Winnipeg Manitoba. Passed
away peacefully at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Coquitlam on January 5, 2002. Ray
served in the RCAF during the war. He worked for DCA Food Company. He was a
Shriner and a member of the West Point Grey Masonic Lodge where he became a
Thirty-third Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Point Grey Golf Club
for many years. Predeceased by his brother Alvin Lush, his sister Eva Wain
and step-sister Vera Hopkins and survived by his step-sister Muriel Wilton
in Winnipeg. Loved and sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Frances
Elizabeth (Betty) Lush. Survived by his loving family, Patricia and Jim
Anderson of Kelowna, Gerald Lush and Jill Rowledge of Coquitlam, Georgina
Blanchet of Coquitlam, and David Lush of Chilliwack. Loved always and
greatly missed by his grandchildren Craig and Eric Anderson; Devon, Tara and
Jordan Blanchet; and Jason, Jodie and James Lush. Lovingly remembered by his

MAN _ Nancy Nai Him passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on
Sunday, December 30th, 2001, in Hong Kong at the age of 66. Predeceased by
her beloved husband, Man Sai Kwong in August, 2001, she is lovingly
remembered by her family, Christine and John, Susan and Ron, Peter, Philip
and Lana, Lumen and Andrew, Joyce and Keith, and grandchildren Gail, Paul

MARKLUND _ Elsie (nee Weaver), born May 19, 1929 in Natal, BC passed away
suddenly on January 3, 2002 at home in Agassiz, BC to be with her beloved
husband Carl who predeceased her on March 28, 1999. She will be greatly
missed and lovingly remembered by her family; her son Jim (Jane); her
daughters Doriann, Betsy (Robin), Janine (Jorge), Carlene (Ken) and her gran
dchildren Shara (David), Janine, Tracy, Lonny (Caroline), Crystal, Davan,
Darcy, Jeff, Dana, Haley, Todd, Teagan and great-grandchild Destiny. She is
survived by her brothers Jackie, Wilfred, Ken; her sisters Violet, Florence,
Betsy and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of Elsie's life
will be held at Bell Funeral Chapel on January 10 at 1 p.m. located at 2746
E. Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC As an expression of sympathy a donation in

McBURNIE _ Blanche born March 14, 1916. In loving memory of our dear mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Grandma B left us quietly on
January 3, 2002 after a short stay in hospital. Survived by her daughter
Maxine (Rick); granddaughter Jessica (George); great-grandson Lucas; sister
Thelma; brother Russell; sister-in-law Angela; brother-in-law Frank (Mavis);
and many friends and others who loved her. Predeceased by her husband Earl
and son Douglas. Blanche was known to most as grandma, and her enveloping,
loving spirit touched all who knew her. Love you bunches Grandma B. A
private service of interment will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery,
Abbottsford. With a memorial service for all friends and family to be held
at Matsqui Lutheran Church to be announced at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, donation to the BC Cancer Society would be appreciated.

MILLER _ Edward George passed away on December 30, 2001 while vacationing in
Mexico at the age of 65. He was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on January
22, 1936. Edward is survived by his loving wife Feroline "Lhennie"; sons
Craig, Mitch, Lee and Scott; grandchildren Cameron and Michelle. He will
also be missed by, his brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, in-laws and
friends. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 from 7
to 9 p.m. at Ocean View Funeral Home where funeral services will be held on
Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at Ocean View
Burial Park following the service.

MONDOR _ Simon, Sam. Beloved husband, father and grandpa, son and brother
passed eternally, suddenly on January 1, 2002 aged 59. He was predeceased by
his father Albert; brothers Jean, Joseph, Maurice and Lionel. Left to mourn
his loss are his wife Lois of Calgary; daughters Barb and Peter, Charlene
and Collin and his son Albert and Claire; all his grandchildren, his mother
Louise; brothers Roger and Norma, Gerry and Elizabeth, sisters Marie, Cecile
and Elie Robert, Jeannine and Alan Armitage and sister-in-law Ann Mondor,
all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and dear friends. Sam was retired from Mount Skyline Tours and
Monarch Fine Foods of BC. He was a devoted dad and dearly loved by his
children and family members. "We will miss you". Funeral was held in Calgary

POISSON _ Denis, born on December 29, 1931, died December 27, 2001. Survived
by his son Michael; daughter Doris; brother Wilby and his wife; Claude and
his wife; sister Mariette and her husband, Liliane and her husband. Not to
forget his second family that he built up over 35 years in British Columbia,
Howard Veltin and his wife Rita; Ernie Morgan and his wife Yvette; and a
dear friend Rick Schmidt, who considered him as a father "Papa"; and many
more friends. The last post will be held at the Canadian Legion, Branch 119,
in Port Moody, Saturday, January 12, 2002, from 1-3 p.m.

PRATAP _ Ram Pratap passed away peacefully on the morning of January 6, 2002
at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kisun,
of 47 years; a dear father to his 5 children Jagdish (Janet), Reeta (Bimal),
Geeta (Darryl), Sanjeet and Shanel; a special grandfather to his 7
grandchildren, and an adoring brother. He will be deeply missed by joyfully
remembered by all that knew him and shared his love.
