CALDOW _ David Forteath Caldow, born 15th August, 1903 in Gatehouse of Fleet, Scotland
passed away peacefully on May 21, 2002. He was predeceased by his loving wife Peggy,
four brothers and three sisters. Dave will be deeply missed by son, Geordie, and wife,
Joan; grandsons Marty and Curtis; step-daughter Ethel; niece Jean and husband, Gino,
daughter Cathie and son David, as well as the rest of the Caldow and McMillan clans. "My

CHORNOBAY _ In loving memory of Elaine Carol Chornobay who was taken from us suddenly on

CUTLER _ Earle K., born March 19th, 1942 in Fort William, Ontario, passed away May 18th,
2002 in Langley after a hard struggle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his

AMOS _ Marlene Dora (nee Baker). Passed away May 17th, 2002. Survived by, Andrea (Ron)

BABCOCK _ Margaret Gertrude, born October 5, 1923 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed
on quietly on May 15, 2002. Predeceased by her husband Ronald, sister Mable and
granddaughter Laurie-Ann. Survived by daughters Diane (Wesley) Fournier, Barbara (Joe)
Gordon, Debra (Craig) Shaw and Bonnie-Jean Gale, grandchildren John, Shelley, Shane,
Paige, and Austin, great-grandchildren, Justin and Chantal, sister Edna Cleaver and
brother Ed Moore. Margaret resided in Burnaby and was a long time resident of Whonnock
and Maple Ridge. She was devoted to her church and delighted in the love, comfort and
fellowship it provided her. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great
grandmother and friend. Family and friends will sorely miss Margaret. A memorial service
will be held at Gordon Presbyterian Church, 7457 Edmonds, Burnaby on Saturday, May 25 at
1 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.

BELLERBY _ Michael (Mike). Passed away May 4, 2002 in Perth Australia after a valiant
fight with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan and sons, Scott and Kirk.
Mike was born and raised in Scotland and moved to Canada as a young man, staying here
for many years. Mike had a great zest for life and made many friends in Vancouver,
especially through playing rugby with The Richmond Rugby Club and later The Capilano
Rugby Club. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Mike's words to live by were "A
couple of beers, a couple of laughs."

BERARD _ Codi. Born November 30th, 1983. It is with great sadness that we announce the
sudden and tragic passing of our son, brother and grandson, William (Codi) killed in a
car accident in Edmonton on May 20th, 2002. He is survived by his mother Dulcie; his
father Bill; sister Dalice; brothers Colten and Nathan; also by his grandmothers Joan
Berard and Dorothy Lauman and special friend Lara. Also survived by Auntie Jackie
(Barry), Auntie Theresa (Malcolm), Auntie Monica (Jim), Auntie Char (Robyn); Uncle
Charlie (Donna), Uncle Danny, and Uncle Billy; cousins Shane, Barry, Deanna, Billy-Joe,
Marley, Brad, Sharra, Natasha, Robert, Alexa, Miranda, Jamie, Jordy, Eric, Mason and
Skylar. In honour of Codi's wishes, organ and tissues were donated for transplant.

DIKAIOS _ Sevasti (nee Tsamouka). Born in Rethimno, Crete in Greece, passed away May 16,
2002 peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her two
children, Tami Athanasia and Eirini (Reno), her two grandchildren, Anastasia and
Gregory, her sister, Maria and her sister-in-law, Vasiliki with many relatives in
Canada, U.S. and Greece. She came to Canada in 1959 and was married to Anastasios
Gregorios Dikalos in 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Seva was a devoted Labour & Deliver
Head Nurse and Registed Nurse with a 25 year commitment to the Royal Columbian Hospital
in New Westminster, B.C. She received the Recognition Award from the Registered Nurses
Association of British Columbia for Valuable Contribution to the Nursing Profession and
helped many mothers deliver their babies. Seva was also a Registered Obstetrical Midwife
and Instructor in Athens, Greece, receiving top honours in her graduating class. A
beautiful, kind, caring, loving, gracious and holy woman, mother, grandmother, sister,
sister-in-law and friend to all, she will be deeply missed and forever loved and
remembered. A special thanks to the nursing staff at Delta Hospital for their wonderful
care and to Dr. Parks and Dr. Harris for their professional care and concern. A prayer
service will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Home at 306 East 11th Avenue,
Vancouver, B.C. on May 22, 2002 at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. George's
Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 4500 Arbutus, Vancouver, B.C. on May 23, 2002 at 1 p.m.

EDLUND _ B. Holger, at the age of 84 years passed away peacefully in his sleep at home
May 17, 2002. Born June 13, 1917 in Hendon, Saskatchewan. Holger was predeceased by 2
sons. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 55 years Olga; daughter
Maureen Fiedler (Edson, Ab), daughter and son-in-law Faye and Cliff Muir (Terrace, BC);

EDWORTHY _ Margaret (Bocking) Edworthy of Kelowna, BC, gifted homemaker and mother,
community supporter, golfer, friend, and lifelong companion and loving wife of Malcolm
Edworthy, passed away on May 19th, 2002 at the age of 80. Margaret will be greatly
missed by her loving husband, Malcolm; three daughters, Joan Morris (husband Ev), Diana
(Judy) Bouvier, Nancy Nelson (husband Jack), and one son, Steve Edworthy (wife Shawna);
as well as her beloved eight grandchildren; Jeneen Rankin-Bayer (husband Derrick) and
Kira Rankin, Jesse and Jenn Bouvier, Benji (Robert) and David Nelson, Sonia and Russell
Edworthy. She is predeceased by her father William Reginald Bocking, her mother Leona
Bocking, her brother Jack and is survived by her loving brother, Doug (wife Vivian) and

EVANS _ Ivor William. Born May 26, 1937, he was a very special man who touched the lives
of many people. He passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2002 with his family by his side;
wife of 42 years, Merilyn; daughters, Lisa and Kim; son, Craig; son-on-law, Andrew; and
"3rd" and "4th" daughters, Carina and Sommer. A loving husband and father, and very
proud of his family. We will miss Ivor greatly, but his love for life remains with us

GATENBY _ Lisle (Gate) Ballentyne. Born December 22, 1918. Lisle passed away peacefully
on May 17, 2002, surrounded by those who loved him. Beloved husband of the late Eleanor
Gatenby; father of Mary-Anne, Rodney, Lisle and George; grandfather of Lindsay, Chad,
Jocelyn, William, Nathan, Owen, Devon and Eleanor. Graduated from UBC in 1942 with a
Mining Engineering and Geological degree. Lisle had a distinguished career in mining
exploration and gold placer mining which took him to the four corners of the world. A
family memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 10:00 am at West Vancouver
United Church. A celebration of Lisle's life will be held at 4030 Ripple Road, West
Vancouver on Thursday, May 23, from 2:00-4:00 pm. All who knew Lisle are welcome to

KATRICHAK _ Helen passed away quietly at home Wednesday May 15, 2002 age 84 years. She
is survived by two sisters, Mary Sibilieus of Kimberly, B.C. and Margaret Morrissette of
Fruitvale, B.C. and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Helen was a resident of
Port Alberni and worked for the Post Office in Alberni for many years. She recently
moved to Surrey, B.C. where she resided at Imperial Place. Public visitation Friday, May

LANG _ Margaret-Ann Helen, known as "Peggy" died peacefully at home in Anacortes,
surrounded by her sons and daughters, on Friday, May 17, 2002, after an extended
illness. Peggy was born on June 4, 1932 in Vancouver, B.C., the eldest daughter of
Robert and Marjorie Johnson. Preceding her in death were husband, Howard in 1992 and
daughter, Maggie in 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Lang of Anacortes,
Sherry Graden and husband Calvin of Poulsbo, Beth Clark and husband Craig of Anacortes;
sons, Kurt Lang and wife Joan Rave of Mount Vernon, and Karl Lang and wife Cathy of Oak
Harbor. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Robert Johnson of Vancouver, B.C.;
her sister, Barbara Pering of Vancouver, B.C.; and grandchildren, Ian, Kelsey, and
Emily. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Maple Leaf
Cemetery in Oak Harbor, followed by a 1:00 p.m. memorial service at First Baptist Church
in Anacortes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the
Salvation Army, PO Box 303, Anacortes, WA 98221, a charity Peggy believed in deeply.

LEE _ Chow-Foon, aged 81, passed away peacefully with family at her side, on May 18,
2002. She was predeceased by her loving husband Chuen-Kai, sister Kit-Wah and daughter
Brenda. She is survived by her sister, Kit-Ping and will be remembered with love by
sons, Hilary, Stephen, Chris (Polly); daughters, Lily (Wai), Viola (Clyde), Sandy;
son-inlaw Yuk-Cheung, and four grandchildren, Philip, Stephanie, Caroline and Michael.
She will be deeply missed by many relatives and friends. Visitation will be held
Thursday, May 23 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial

MARTIN _ Ronald Gerald of North Vancouver, born December 7, 1934, passed away peacefully
after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born in San Diego, California where he
graduated from San Diego High. Ron's early talents were in baseball and figure skating.
When he wasn't on the field playing ball he was a "rink rat" and shortly after
graduation he was recruited by the Ice Capades and turned "Pro". It was during those
years that he met his wife Donna (Hume) who introduced him to her home in British
Columbia, of which he fell immediately in love with the mountains, trees and ocean. Ron
spent the majority of his working years as a stock broker with the VSE. Ron built his
own home in North Vancouver and spent many years perfecting his art of masonry. Ron's
greatest passion were his kids (and many other people's too) where he spent endless
hours coaching baseball and hockey on the North Shore. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and pet owner with an unbelievably great sense of humour. He will be sadly
missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; kids, daughter, Rhonda (Craig); sons
Ray (Susie), and Rhett (Laura); his precious granddaughter, Sierra; his sister, Gaylen;
his mother, Evangeline Francis Martin; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his
special pets, dogs Kodi, Tugger and Tortilla the pig. A celebration of Ron's life will
be held on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont
Blvd., North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society or the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research.

LANE _ Eleanor Valda (nee Anderson) peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Burquitlam
Lions Care Centre, Coquitlam, B.C. Predeceased in 2001 by her husband Francis Louis
Lane. Survived by her children Marion Lane and her husband Bill Irvine (Toronto), Jim
Lane and his wife Mary Ann Lane (Coquitlam) and Kathleen Webster (Dawson City); her
grandchildren Chris, Laura and her husband Russell, Carl, Benjamin, Michael, Matthew
Lane, Matthew Webster and Suzanne; her sister Elizabeth Flowerdew (Kelowna) and her
sister-in-law Eileen Stonhouse (Nanaimo). Eleanor was much beloved by all who knew her.
A devoted spouse, loving mother and grandmother, she thrived on her family, her clan of
relatives, her wide circle of friends and the family of caregivers who came into her
life after her stroke in 1990. She was a teacher by profession with school boards in
Maple Ridge and Burnaby. Her love of math and grammar served her well, as her skills at
cards and her finely-honed ear for grammar errors continued for at least a decade
despite her cognitive impairment. For nearly fifty years, she was an active member of
East Burnaby United Church. She and Frank helped build the new church in the fifties.
She was a Sunday School teacher, co-founder of the B.L.S. Club, a life member of United
Church Women, member of the Board of Stewards, representative to the Presbytery and to
the General Council. She loved entertaining, travel, gardening and the rain. The family
extend their deepest thanks to the staff of the Burquitlam Lions Care Centre and to the
wonderful team of caregivers who have sustained Mother in recent years. Funeral Services
will be held Friday, May 24th at 1:30 p.m. at East Burnaby United Church, 7772 Graham
Avenue, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, East
Burnaby United Church, or the Burquitlam Lions Care Centre, would be appreciated.

PEACH _ Laura Margaret (nee: Smith) 1911 - 2002. Laura Margaret Peach, beloved mother
and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2002 at the age of 90 years.
Laura was born and raised in Vancouver. She served overseas during World War II with the
Canadian Red Cross Overseas Corps. After a few years in Montreal, she moved with her
family to Calgary in 1952, where she was active in church, school, and other volunteer
activities. Laura worked at the Calgary Public Library, retiring in 1976. She was
predeceased by her six brothers and sisters and her former husband, Jack Peach. She is
lovingly remembered by her children, Dan (Jolie), Peter, Martha (Tom) MacLeod, Katy
(Gord) Jones; grandchildren, Calum, Kenton, Allie, Tim and Kayla; nieces and nephews,
Anne Smith, Rod, Steve, Graham Smith, Margaret Eagle, John Chase; sisters-in-law,
Dorothy Smith and Joan Smith; special caregivers Fely Lamsen and Darlene Gallant, and by

SINCLAIR _ Peter McCormack born July 06,1910 in Alloa Scotland. Passed away May 16,
2002. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Larry and Peter, daughters-in-law Valerie

loving wife Dorothy predeceased Peter. Peter lived a great portion of his life in
Toronto as a Musician playing string bass with Mart Kenney as well as playing

WILKIE _ Flora Jean (nee Gilbert). November 20, 1921 - May 15, 2002. It is with great
sadness we announce the passing of this truly special lady. You could not find a more
supportive and loving wife, mother and friend. She fought her battle with cancer with
great courage and a quiet dignity that was admired by those around her. Born in Yorkton,
Saskatchewan and married in 1947 to Edward, she travelled to Vancouver on their
honeymoon and ended up residing there until 3 years ago when she moved to Langley. Mom
retired as registrar from the C.N.I.B. in 1986 and was able to enjoy her bowling and the
walks she took through the neighborhood she loved for 52 years. We always knew when the
Lions, Canucks or Blue Jays were playing as you did not dare call and interrupt this
loyal fan during their games! Predeceased by husband Ed; daughter Karen; brothers Fred,
Pat, Harry and sister Chris. Dearly missed by her daughter Janis; grandchildren Jacine,
Matthew and Krista; son-in-law Thomas; sisters Winnie and Mary; in-laws Nester (Olive),
Olga (Frank), (Laura) and many other relatives and friends. No service by request.

WONG _ Ken Chock Kwan passed away on May 18, 2002 in the presence of his family, whom he
loved dearly as a devoted husband, father and brother. Born on January 10, 1938 in
Zhongsan, China, Ken immigrated to Vancouver in 1950. He will be fondly remembered both
as a true family man who passionately loved his home, his garden, and fine music, and as
a consummate professional who devoted himself to exemplary patient care and teaching
throughout his 31-year career in the Department of Anaesthesia at Vancouver General
Hospital. He retired in June 2000, after which he was honoured as Clinical Associate
Professor Emeritus of Anaesthesia by the University of British Columbia. "Kenny" enjoyed
the respect and friendship of his many colleagues and co-workers throughout VGH. He will
lovingly remain in the hearts of his wife Alice of 35 years; son Graham; daughter Laura
(husband Einer); sister Linda (husband John; son Ryan); brother Keith (wife Cissy; son
Cory; daughter Kristy), and many other relatives, friends, and colleagues. The family
would like to thank Dr. L. K. Williams for his care and friendship over the years, and
express their deep gratitude to the staff at the B.C. Cancer Agency and the VGH
Palliative Care Unit, whose compassionate and professional care helped Ken feel
comfortable and peaceful. A memorial service will be held at Chinese Presbyterian
Church, 6137 Cambie Street (at W. 45th), Vancouver, on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at 2:30 p.m.

RICKARDS _ Clinton Henry, age 54, formerly of Burnaby, BC, passed away suddenly on May
16, 2002, in White Rock, surrounded by loved ones. Clint is survived by his children:
Sean (Sarah) of Prince George, Chad and Michelle (and their mother Bernadette) of
Burnaby. Predeceased by his father Alfred in 1974, Clint is also survived by his mother
Gladys Rickards of Burnaby; brothers and sister and their families, Bradley (Pat) of
Kelowna, Marjorie (Bill Mohler) of Tacoma, WA, Gordon of Burnaby, David (Elaine) of
Coquitlam; relatives, special friends, and his treasured dogs Ruby, Zach and Gypsy.
Throughout his life, Clint was devoted to and treasured by his many family members and
friends. A source of strength and guidance to his three children, he will be deeply
missed. During his career as a respected international businessman, Clint was involved
in many successful ventures and companies, including Olivetti, CompuCorp, NAPT, and most
recently Global Election Systems. Clint lived every moment of his life to its fullest,
and passes this legacy to those fortunate enough to have known him. Never one for
regrets, he wishes no funeral services, however a visitation will be held on Thursday,
May 23, 2002, between 5 and 9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave.,
Burnaby, B.C. For those whose lives Clint touched, a celebration will be held in his
