AU _ Po Kwan Chan, passed away November 13th, 2002, 71 years of age. Survived by family
and friends. Funeral service will be held at Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home, on
Saturday, November 23rd, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.

BADER _ David John Anthony passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on November 14,
2002 at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer. He will be sadly missed and
lovingly remembered by the many people whose lives he touched. David leaves behind his
wife and best friend Elke, his children Michael, Delma (John), Davie (Eva), Kristina,
Jasmine and Jennifer, and his sister Lois, stepsisters Laurel and Doreen, stepbrother
Patrick, aunt, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren,
and many friends and associates. The founder of Don Bosco Agencies, "Don" spent 33 years
building a well-respected reputation in the health food industry, where he shared his
wisdom and knowledge of holistic medicine. David championed many causes in his lifetime.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses on staff at Langley Memorial Hospital.
Thank you to the Hope House for all of their love and support. Special thanks to Kari

BARTRAM _ Lura Arlene (nee Prouty), born July 9, 1943, passed away November 15, 2002
after a lengthy battle with Pick's Disease at Deltaview Habilitation Centre with family
members at her side. Lura's kind and gentle ways endeared her to all who knew her. She
will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her spouse, Kim Palmatary; her four
children, Steven (Lisa), Tracy, Michelle (Brad) and Paul; her nine grandchildren; her
parents Lura and Ray; brothers, Bud, Tom and Scott and their families. The family would
like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Deltaview for

BISHOP _ Margaret "Peg" Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 19, 1919. Passed away
peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Tuesday November 19, 2002. Survived by her loving
daughters, Pat Calhoun and Cyndy Marples; grandchildren, Shawna, Scott, Kurt and Colin;
sisters, Betty Morrison, Ella Gething and their families. A memorial service will be
held at the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North
Vancouver on Saturday November 23, 2002 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Heart and Stroke
Foundation.

BOZIC _ The morning of November 19th, 2002 saw the passing of Stefan Tony Bozic, of
Delta, B.C. Though his year long battle with brain cancer took a toll on his body,
Stefan's spirit never broke and his love for those close to him and sense of humor
prevailed. Born in Vancouver, B.C. on December 23rd, 1969, Stefan is survived by his
loving wife Darcy; his daughters, Alyssa and Kylie; Father Stefan; Mother Rosie; Sister
Doris and Brother Martin. Stefan's family and friends are very grateful to have known
him and to have had the opportunity to grow and share memories with him. Prayers will be
offered on Friday, November 22nd at 5:30 p.m. from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic
Church (8842-119th St., Delta) followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00
a.m. Rev. Mariusz Sztuk, Celebrant. Cremation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made
to the "Make a Wish Foundation" of B.C. in Stefan's memory.

ELDER _ Elizabeth Robertson passed into the presence of the Lord in her 93rd year
November 19, 2002. Predeceased by her husband John in 1994. She is survived by her sons,
Jack (Anita), Doug (Margaret); two grandchildren, Kathy, Jennifer; and her extended
family, Harry and Beverly Richards. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November
23rd at 1:00 pm at Granville Chapel, 5901 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Daybreak Point Bible Camp, PO Box 18085, Vancouver, BC, V6M
4L3 would be appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Nora Etches and to the staff of the
South Granville Park Lodge for making Mom's last year so comfortable. Private interment.

FAYERS _ Patricia Mary passed away suddenly November 19th, 2002 at the age of 51.
Lovingly missed by her dear friend, Mother Will Fayers; sister Maryke (Paul); nieces and
nephew Connie, Julie, Mike (Steph, Mateo, Josh and Noah) and all her other family and
friends. She lived a full and adventurous life travelling with her family and friends.
She touched the lives of all she came in contact with and filled the room with sunshine.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, wonderful sense of humour and positive
attitude. She loved the sport of Boccia. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly

FERGUSON _ Harold born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, November 5, 1915 passed away peacefully
after a long battle with heart disease on November 18, 2002. He is survived by his wife,
Norma of 56 years and daughters, Barb, Sharon (Duane), Val (Roger); grandchildren,
Joanne, Michael, Lisa and Tony; one sister and many nieces and nephews. He was a World
War II veteran serving in the Navy. He was known for his teasing and his love of life.
He will be missed terribly. A small service to be held at Burkeview Family Funeral Care,
1340 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam, Friday, November 22 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of
flowers, please send donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

FULLERTON _ Marjory Alexandra passed away peacefully November 8, 2002 at U.B.C. Hospital
following a brief illness. Born October 27, 1918 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Marjory was
predeceased by her parents Alexander and Catherine; her sisters Christina Fullerton and
May Harper and her dear friend Doreen Brown. She leaves to mourn her wonderful friends,
Georgina Binnie in Scotland, Marion Steel, G.W. "Bus" Brown, John and Barbara Whittle,
Chelsea and Courtney, Greg and Susan Sanger, Stephanie and Jennifer, Violet Scott,
Marcelle Shaw, Myrtle Groves, Eva Anderson and Peggy Thompson, among many others.
Marjory served with the British Forces during World War II and first came to Canada in
1948. She enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an investment manager with the Bank
of Nova Scotia until her retirement in 1981. An avid lawn bowler and great reader, she
truly enjoyed life. Marj loved to travel, only recently returning from a visit to her
beloved Scotland. Right up to the time of her passing she was contemplating her next
trip, this time to Brazil with her friend and neighbour Jackie Ulrych. At Marj's request
there will be no service. On Friday, November 22, 2002, at 11:30 am PST at St. John
Olgivies Church, Edinburgh, Ina Binnie will light a candle of remembrance to honour
Marjory's life. "And when at last I leave that lovely water, my pockets heavy with the
gold of experience which I can never lend, nor lose, nor give away...I have added one
more link to that chain of gold ... uncommunicable memories which I shall carry always".

GEYER _ Herbert of North Vancouver, B.C. Born in Graz, Austria on April 6, 1925. Herbert
passed away peacefully after years of suffering on November 19, 2002, at the age of 77
years. He is survived by one brother in Graz, Austria; longtime girlfriend Vera Hagedorn
and her family; and many good friends. He will be missed greatly for the good person he
was. A memorial service will be held at the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral
Services, 1505 Lillooet Rd. North Vancouver on Saturday November 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.

HESTER _ Florence Margaret, born September 5, 1921 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba passed away
peacefully November 17, 2002 at the age of 81. She will be fondly remembered by Leonard
"Len", her loving husband of 60 years; her son Leonard (Diane); her daughter Donna
(Robert); grandsons, Leonard (Nancy), Rob (Stacey); granddaughters, Jodi-Anne (Perry),
Robyn (Greg); eight beautiful great-grandchildren and her niece Catherine (Wayne).
Florence will be greatly missed by her family and friends. At her request there will be
no service. A Tea will be held at a later date for family and friends.

HUDYMA _ Harry passed away on November 18, 2002 at Burnaby, B.C. in his 97th year.
Predeceased by his loving wife Helen in July 2002. Survived by his daughters, Victoria
(Joe), Judy (Eamon); 6 grand-children; 5 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22nd at St. Mary's Roman Catholic
Church, 5251 Joyce Street, Vancouver, B.C. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial

JACKSON _ Muriel Bella, born May 23, 1911 in Lachine, Quebec, went to be with the Lord
November 18, 2002. She passed away at home with family at her side. Predeceased by her
husband Ellis in 1994. Survived by her only child Shirley Maddocks; grandchildren,
Deborah Proby (Doug) of Gibsons, Carolyn Norris (Bill) of Langley and Bob Maddocks
(Lisa) of Langley; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Christopher, Gregory,
Michael, Jill and Danie. Will also be missed by her brother Albert Lassmann of North
Vancouver; sister-in-law Hazel Lassmann of Squamish and many nieces and nephews.

KIRBY _ Jeanne Yvonne (Vonnie) passed away peacefully at the MSA Hospital, Abbotsford on
November 18th, 2002 surrounded by her loving family. Vonnie will be sadly missed by her
husband of 53 years, Gerald; her son Bob (Cindy) Kirby of Port Moody; her daughter
Marilyn (Rick) Totten of Kamloops; and three wonderful grandchildren, Blake of Calgary,
and Kaitlyn and Brynn of Kamloops. She is survived by her sister Vivian (Jack) Graves of
Seattle, and Lois (Jack) Belland of Edmonton. She had many loved cousins, nieces,
nephews, and good friends in both Alberta and British Columbia and was always happiest
when amongst them. Her bowling and the "Gals" were the highlight of her weeks and
maintaining her title of "Shopper Shopper" was always good for a bit of laughter. A
Memorial Service to be held Saturday, November 23, at 11:00am at Burquitlam Funeral

MACKENZIE _ Mary Lillian (nee Whiteley), in her 98th year, born in Depot Harbour,
Ontario, passed away peacefully November 13, 2002 in St. Vincent's Hospital. Predeceased
by her husband Alex; sons, Cameron and John; sisters, Nancy Baird and Dorothy Taylor;
niece Nancy Lou Lewis. Lovingly remembered by her family, daughter-in-law Diane;
grandchildren, Tracy (Geoff) Cribb, Tacoma WA and Michael; great-grandchildren, John,
Katie and Mary; nieces Martha and Linda; nephew Dan and families. A member of the
Telephone Pioneers. Memorial service Saturday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm at First
Memorial Funeral Chapel, 602 Kingsway (1 block west of Fraser), Vancouver. In lieu of

MAI _ Kim Siew, passed away November 19, 2002, 92 years of age. Survived by family and
friends. Funeral service will be held at Mount Pleasant Universal Funeral Home, on
Friday, November 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m.

McDONALD _ Donald Roderick (Roddy). The funeral of Roddy McDonald was held at Guardian
Angels Catholic Church in Vancouver on November 13, 2002. He will be deeply missed by
his devoted wife Ruth and his children Miles, Mark, Leanne, Murray and Keenan. Born in
Alberta in 1921, Roddy married Ruth Lee of Edmonton in 1950. He worked for several years
in aircraft repair and later at the University of Alberta where he was in charge of
servicing for the departments of chemistry, physics, cancer research and engineering. He
built the first heart-lung machine in Canada and many other pieces of equipment for
medical use. Roddy suffered from muscular dystrophy and his family, most especially his
beloved Ruth, cared for him tirelessly for many years so that he might remain active and
live life to the fullest. With Ruth's help and support he was able to be out every day
meeting and greeting his many friends, spending time in Chapters bookstore, the library,
O'Doul's and other favorite spots. Besides his family, Roddy leaves to mourn his loving
sisters, Sadie Quinlan (Pat) and Delphine Finley (Joe) and many nieces and nephews. He
will be greatly missed and remembered always for his positive, caring and gentle spirit.

McGREGOR _ Joyce Rae of White Rock. Born on June 13th, 1926 in Winnipeg died at Peace
Arch Hospital November 16th, 2002. Predeceased by husband McLaurin (Lorne), parents
George and Marguerita Rae. Celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 2:00 p.m.,
November 27th, 2002, White Rock Lawn Bowling Club, 1079 Dolphin Street, White Rock. If

McLEAN _ Donald James (Don). Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on November
18th 2002 at age 68. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Elinor, two sons Jim
(Janice) and Gordon (Mary), a daughter Leah (Greg), five grandchildren; Kira, Alex,
KimberlyAnn, Douglas and Jennifer, and a brother, Robert. He was predeceased by a
daughter, Patricia, who passed away suddenly at age 10 in 1971, a brother Lloyd, and a
sister Dorothy. His family will miss the love, support and guidance that he provided
through his entire life. Don was born and raised on a farm in Ontario where by the age
of 16 he was running the operations of the farm. After a brief time away from school in
his teens, Don went on to excel at the University of Toronto where he received a Degree
in Engineering Physics. He started his professional career with Ferranti Packard in
Toronto, but left to join IBM in 1963. It is with IBM that Don moved his family to
Vancouver in 1970. Don left IBM to join ICBC, after a brief time at MacMillan Bloedel,
retiring in 1993. Throughout his career, Don dedicated himself to community service, and
in doing so was instrumental in the creation of the North Shore Counselling Centre in
1971. Don will be missed by numerous friends and colleagues for his challenging and
intellectual conversations and for his very supportive and caring manner. He cherished,
above all, the personal relationships that he had with many individuals during his
lifetime. A memorial service will be held at West Vancouver United Church, 2062
Esquimalt Ave., West Vancouver, B.C. on Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. In

NICOLSON _ Lynda Ann passed away suddenly on November 17, 2002. She was born June 15,
1968 in New Westminster, B.C. Lynda worked as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at the
Surrey Memorial Hospital and as Registered Nurse at the Vancouver Cancer Clinic. A

PENNIE _ Helen Beatrice (nee Lewis), late of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away November 19,
2002 at the age of 82 years. She was born April 25, 1920 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. A

PERRY _ Alan Friswell. After bravely fighting cancer for over a year, Alan tragically
died in a car crash on the 11th of November 2002. Survived by his loving wife of 30
years Lynne and his three children, Gavin, Sarah (Nigel) and James (Dawn and Dawson). He
will be sadly missed by his family and many friends and he will be remembered for his
generous, loving nature and great sense of humor. A Celebration of his Life will be held

SAMSON _ Robert Louis (Bob) - 70. Born March 7, 1932. He died peacefully at Delta
Hospital November 18, 2002. Born in Little Anse, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Joseph
William and Mary Zenna Samson (nee Langlois). He was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion (#61) and served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 18 years. He was a chef by
trade and later worked as a sub-foreman in the Engineering Dept. for the Corporation of
Delta. Known to all as "UNCLE BOB." He will be sadly missed by his son Robert
(Jacqueline) Samson, of Half Moon Bay, BC, and daughters Beverly (Gus) MacLellan and
Annelise Samson of Mississauga. Also missing him are his grandchildren; Justin and
Caitlin Samson, Half Moon Bay; sisters Mrs. Tillie Landry of Petit-de-Grat, Joan
(Rudolph) Landry of Little Anse, Susan (Venard) Samson of D'Escousse, Antoinette (Louis)
Samson of Samsons Cove; brothers Vernon (Magdalen) Samson of Petit-de-Grat, Cletus
(Laura) Samson of Delta, Elmer (Doreen) Samson of Mississauga; Aunt Delina Cornier of
Cheticamp; 44 nieces and nephews; 51 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased
by his wife Marie Samson (Merlin), his sisters Mrs. Annette (Duff) Boudreau, Miss
Rosaline Samson, Doris Samson (Zander) and two siblings in infancy. Funeral to be held

STRZALKOWSKI _ Wladyslaw, born August 22, 1935 in Warsaw, Poland, passed away peacefully
and surrounded by his family on November 17, 2002 in New Westminster, BC after a lengthy
battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Bozena, his two children, Dominika
(Urbanowski) and Sebastian; and two grandchildren, Isabella and Jacob. A Memorial
Service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2002, at 8:00 p.m., at First Memorial
Funeral Services, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC (Kingsway & Carolina). Donations to the BC
Cancer Society are graciously appreciated in Wladyslaw's name in lieu of flowers.

THOM _ Jack Melvin. Born in Nanaimo, BC on October 19, 1919. Jack passed away
peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday November 16, 2002 at Surrey Memorial
Hospital. A dedicated family man, he will be sadly missed by his best friend and devoted
wife of 49 years, June, his beloved children, Marilyn Folz (George), Patricia Rogers
(Stuart) Brian (Karen) and Janice Wong (Terry). He also leaves to mourn his cherished
grandchildren, Landon, Tyler, Kelsey, Alanna, Michael, Jessica, Geoffrey, Brendan and
Christopher and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Jack will be remembered with
love and affection for his quiet presence and his love to feed any and all who came to
visit. He was a veteran of World War II. Jack was a longtime employee of Terminal Fruit
and Produce and later, Enterprise Paper. He retired in 1984. Jack's family would like to
thank Dr. Mark Blinkhorn, the staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital and the special
caregivers from Paramed for their tender care. A memorial service to celebrate Jack's
life will be held on Thursday, November 28, 2002 at Willingdon Church, 4812 Willingdon

THOMPSON _ Beverly Jean (nee Clayton). Born August 31, 1929 in Montpelier, Idaho to her
beloved parents Earl Alexander and Dorothy Mae Clayton (Piper). She died peacefully in
her sleep on Sunday, November 17, 2002 in the home she shared with her much loved
husband, Charlie Thompson. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Clayton and her
brother, Ray Clayton and his wife Betty. She leaves behind her loving children, Cherie
Thomas, Cynthia Thomas-Cox (Randy), Deanie Mackwell (Steve Shand), Debbie Fellers,
(Darold), and Clint Conner (Liz). She will be deeply missed by her twelve grandchildren
and her three great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at
