BUSCH, Alex *photo* BUSCH Alex Busch, beloved husband, father, grandfather,
and great-grandfather, passed away at 6:00 a.m. August 13, 2003 at the
Veteran's Home on Acadia Drive. Survived by sister, Mary. Alex was born in
Moose Jaw, December 27, 1916, married Amy Abdou 55 years ago, joined the
Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and served on Minesweepers Swift Current and
Blairmore in the Atlantic. Was interested in carpentry, baseball, hockey and
his family. Owned and operated "Busch Machine and Welding" in Assiniboia,
Saskatchewan. Worked as a machinist in Dundas, Ontario and later opened a
machine shop in Davidson, Saskatchewan. Later worked at Cominco Potach as a
machinist until his retirement. He was a great father and an example to all
his family and was deeply interested in all they did. He had a strong
religious faith. He was a very creative person, and took pride in his
workmanship. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one sister,
infant son, Lawrence, and infant granddaughters, Leslie and Emanuelle. Left
to mourn are his loving wife, Amy; his children, Jerry (Sharon), Angela,
Roberta (Julian), Frances (John) Lenhard (Pauline), Lorraine (Richard),
Mary, and Andrea (Dale), 37 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and
numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved. Relatives and friends are
invited to attend the public viewing at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th
Avenue North, Saskatoon) on Thursday, August 14 at 6:00 p.m., the prayers at
St. Mary's Catholic Church (211 Avenue O South, Saskatoon) on Friday, August
15 at 7:00 p.m and the funeral on Saturday, August 16 at St. Mary's Catholic
Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Solange Roman Catholic
Cemetery, Hafford, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made
to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Charles "Charlie" Blake Graveside Committal Memorial Reception The family of
Charles Blake invite those who shared in Charlie's life to join them at a
Memorial Reception at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre (4th Ave. and 25th St.)
on Monday, August 18, 2003 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. (Guest
parking will be available on the lot south of Saskatoon Funeral Home.) Those
wishing to also attend the Graveside Committal Service are asked to meet at
the gates to Woodlawn Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Charlie passed away on June 18,
2002 in Calgary at the age of 99. A Funeral Service was held at that time in
Calgary and plans made for interment at Woodlawn Cemetery and Memorial
gathering this summer in Saskatoon. Charlie was employed by the Saskatchewan
Co-operative Creamery (Dairy Producers) in Saskatoon for 47 years retiring
in 1970 as branch manager. Committed to his community, Charlie was a
continuous member of the Lions Club since 1946, the business association
Usadians for over 32 years, director of the Old Boy's Club for over 30
years, and volunteer for the Exhibition and Western Development Museum.
Charlie enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards and having coffee with his
friends. He is survived by his wife, Matilda (Tillie); children, Palma
McCullagh of Burlington, ON and Barbara (Jim) Gettis of Calgary, AB;
grandchildren, Scott (Linda), Leslie, Kelly, Brent, Paul and Michael; and
one great-grandson, Liam; as well as many nieces and nephews and
sisters-in-law, Marty Nicholson and Bertha Marshall. Service arrangements
have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME.

EDITH WINIFRED (POWERS) PEACOCK Edith Peacock, born October 6, 1907, in
Oakes, North Dakota; daughter of Will and Ida (Thompson) Powers; died August
9, 2003 in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Edith moved with her family to homestead
near Estuary, SK in 1913, attending schools in Estuary, Caithness School
district and Regina. She completed Normal School in Regina and taught for
fourteen years. Walter and Edith were married in 1939 in Mendham, SK and
raised their family in Mendham and Kerrobert, retired in Saskatoon, recently
returning to Kerrobert. Edith was a strong advocate of education, passing on
to her children inquisitive minds and a love of history, geography and
music. She was devoted to her family who will always remember her beautiful
lyric soprano voice, her beautiful gardens and her bird whistles. Edith was
active in church choirs, the Catholic Womens League and the Imperial Order
Daughters of the Empire in both Kerrobert and Saskatoon. She believed in
good citizenship and supporting her local community. Survived by husband,
Walter of Kerrobert, SK; sons, Jim (Luella) Peacock of Red Deer, AB, Brian
(Jennifer) Peacock of Burnaby, BC, Eric (Treva) Peacock of Prince George,
BC, Bill (Joan) Peacock of Shaunavon, SK; daughters, Margaret (Tim)
Richelhoff of Major, SK, Mary Lamb of Everett, WA, USA, Rose (David) Dashney
of North Battleford, SK; sisters, Jean Edvardson of Revelstoke, BC and Anne
Caza of Calgary, AB; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded
in death by her parents and three brothers, Maurice, Richard and Bill.
Funeral services held Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Assumption
of Our Lady Catholic Church in Kerrobert, SK. Memorials may be made to the
Kerrobert Cemetery Committee.

FAST, Naomi Helen *photo* FAST Naomi Helen was born on March 8, 1996 and
passed away peacefully in her parents' arms on August 13, 2003. She will be
greatly missed by her parents, Graham and Joanne; her siblings, Hayden,
Quintan and Meeka; her grandparents, Lindsay and Joan Fast and Laurent and
Diane Duret; her aunts and uncles, Sharon (Fast) and Harish Brahmbhatt,
Shaun and Chantel Poisson-Fast, Don and Terri Duret, Marc Duret and Mario
Duret; her special cousins, Sanjay and Kamla Brahmbhatt and Monique
Poisson-Fast; and her great grandparents, Bernhard and Mary Fast. Naomi was
predeceased by her namesake great aunt Helen Inglis; her great grandmother,
Simone Lagimodiere, and her special friend, Giselle Proulx. Naomi's life was
a tremendous gift to those who loved her. She taught her family to value
each day and to live life to the fullest no matter the obstacles. She showed
them that joy was found in simple things and to rejoice in being with loved
ones. Naomi faced many challenges with courage and inner strength and
charmed many people along the way. Her beautiful smile will be remembered by
those who were graced by it. She loved to be around other children and was
very social. Naomi enjoyed school and was treated like a queen at Brevoort
Park School where she attended kindergarten. Her favorite activities were
listening to country music and to videos, watching and playing with other
children, having long cuddle sessions with family and playing in water. Our
gratitude goes to many people whom Naomi befriended along the way and who
helped improve the quality of her life: Mrs. Wendy Stevenson, Mrs. Baby and
Ms. Pidskalny and all the staff and students at Brevoort Park School; her
physiotherapist, Debbie Gunther-Hansen; her family doctor, Dr. Lee Old;
Terri Lohela and all the staff at the Kinsmen Centre Therapeutic Preschool;
Kathy Turtle; and all the staff of RUH Pediatric wards. "Naomi, your light
has brightened our world...we are better people because of you". In lieu of
flowers, Naomi's family requests that donations be made to SOFT (Support
Organization for Families of Trisomy 18 and 13 and Related Disorders) (c/o
Ray and Cindy Cook at 301 Ridge Road, Shorewood, Illinois, USA, 60431) or to
the Kinsmen Children's Centre in Saskatoon. A celebration to honor Naomi's
life will be held on August 16, 1:00 p.m. at Nutana Park Mennonite Church
(1701 Ruth Street East), officiated by Rev. Vern Ratzlaff. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home.

HAROLD (Nic) NICHOLSON Graveside Committal Memorial Reception The family of
Harold Nicholson invites those who shared in Harold's life to join them at a
Memorial Reception at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre (4th Ave. and 25th St.)
on Monday, August 18, 2003 between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. (Guest

in Westbank, BC at the age of 84. A Funeral Service was held at that time in
Westbank and plans made for interment at Woodlawn Cemetery and a Memorial
gathering this summer in Saskatoon. Harold (or Nic as he was better known in
Saskatchewan) started a 35 year career with Intercontinental Packers in 1940
retiring as director with general manager of beef, veal and lamb at the
company's four plants. Harold's second career was with Royal Lepage Real
Estate in Calgary where he achieved million dollar status and received
numerous awards between 1975 and 1984. During WWII Harold served overseas
with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry attaining the rank of captain. He
joined the Saskatoon Lions Club in 1946 and was charter president of the
Nutana Lions Club in 1963, as well he served as a director of the
Saskatchewan Exhibition Board. Harold enjoyed, golf, curling, travel and the
time he could spend with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife,
Marty; sons, Robert (Dianne), David (Marie) and Gordon (Dene);
grandchildren, Christopher, Braeden and Caetlen; as well as many nieces and
nephews; and sisters-in-law, Tillie Blake and Bertha Marshall. Service
arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME.

HUNKS, CECIL (picture) HUNKS Cecil Joseph passed away peacefully on August
10, 2003 in Saskatoon at the age of 75 years after a long and courageous
battle with cancer. Cecil is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years,
Doris; his son, Glenn (Jacqueline) and their children, Ellen, Davis and
Carter of Saskatoon; his daughter, Gwen (Franc) Flipsen of Edmonton; his
daughter, Gina (Bruno) Keller and their children, Derek, Jared, Ashton and
Ryne of Wilkie; and his daughter, Celia-Ann (Ian) Koturbash and their
children, Evan and Joshua of Saskatoon. He was predeceased by his sister,
Celine; his parents, John and Agnes and his brother, Reg. Cecil, fondly
referred to by his family as "Buddy" was born on July 30, 1928 in Cudworth,
SK where he grew up on the family farm. At an early age, he took
responsibility for the family farm and from that grew his love of farming,
which he did until shortly before his passing. On July 7, 1953 he married
Doris Labreque and within a couple of years moved into Saskatoon. While in
Saskatoon, he became a driving instructor, touched the lives of many
students and upon his retirement commented that he would greatly miss his
students. Cecil was foremost a family man and enjoyed visits with his
children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with horses and spent
many years driving teams for the exhibition and weddings. Cecil was a
lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Special thanks to Prairie Spring
Care Homes and Nightingale Nursing Group for their compassionate care. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society,
438-2nd Ave. North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2C3. A Vigil of Prayer for Cecil will
be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2003. The Funeral Liturgy will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2003 with Fr. Denis Phaneuf as
celebrant. Both services will be held at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Parish,
114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon. Interment will take place at Woodlawn
Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 244-5577.

MILES T. HAZEN January 28, 1933 - August 11, 2003 It is with strength and
courage that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Miles was
predeceased by his parents, two brothers, in-laws, grandson Steven and
numerous aunts and uncles. Surviving is his ever-loving wife, Dora;
daughter, Marla (Ken) Ramsey; sons, Chris (Linda); Tim (companion Shelley)
and Cam (Tracy); grandchildren, Tammy, Becky (Stewart), Jessie Scott, Darren
(Kim), Brad, Andrea, Sarah and Jordi; great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Ashlee,
Allee, Aimee; his aunt, Louise; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Miles also leaves behind many good friends and support groups. We wish to
thank the doctors and particularly the nurses of 4300 Saskatoon City
Hospital for their overwhelming kindness and compassion during Dad's brief
illness. The family would like to invite anyone wishing, to join in a
Celebration of Mile's life, to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15,
2003 at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre (4th Ave. and 25th Street, courtesy

NORRIS, Avis Elizabeth (nee Lightfoot) The family is sad to announce the
passing of Avis Norris, Edmonton, Alberta formerly of Davidson and Raymore,
SK on August 7, 2003 at 93 years of age. She will be sadly missed by her
daughter, Dorothy Harris, Edmonton and son, Bill (Darlene) Norris, Powell
River, BC; three brothers, Stan, Earle and Jake Dunville and two sisters,
Margaret Digney and Joyce (Vern) Salisbury; 12 grandchildren; 32 great
grandchildren and 3 great-great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by
husbands, Tony Lightfoot in 1952 and Bob Norris 1977. A Memorial Service
will be held Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church,
Davidson, SK. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the United Church

OFSTIE, JEROY (picture) OFSTIE Jeroy Wilfred passed away on Tuesday, August
12, 2003 at City Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 87. Jeroy was born
on April 28, 1916 on the family farm near Bromhead, SK. He married Verona
Anderson November 10, 1939. Jeroy is survived by his children, Donovan
(Sharon) of Fort St. James, BC, Roland (Lynn) of Red Deer, AB, Valerie
(Dale) of Calgary, AB, Lowell (Donelda) of Saskatoon, SK, Lyle (Cheryl) of
Central Butte, SK, Kerry (Marilyn) of Saskatoon, SK, Daryl of Perth
Australia and Gordon (Joan) of Glenside, SK; 19 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; one brother, Worden; four sisters, Florence, Bernice,
Fanella and Anna, all of BC. He was predeceased by his wife, Verona on June
4, 2003; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Kierstyn; his parents, Tina and
Anton Ofstie; two brothers, Wallace and Alnor; four sisters, Grace, Thelma,
Alice and Hazel. A Memorial Service will be held at Luther Heights (1802
Alexandra Avenue, Saskatoon, SK) on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m.

SIDORCHUK Mary ascended into the hands of God comfortably and peacefully
under the gracious care of the staff of 6100 at Royal University Hospital on
Monday, August 11, 2003. Mary was born and raised in Drumheller. Later she
married and moved to the farming community of Verwood, SK. She leaves
behind, who will always dearly keep a place in their heart for Mom and
Grandma are daughter, Patricia McAvoy, son-in-law, Jim, and three
grandchildren, Keegan, Alekcei and her precious Kelley-Anne. Mom was a very
independent, private and caring person. Her love for fine art work,
needlework, embroidery and collectibles will forever be adorned and admired.
A unique plate collection will be cherished and admired. Mary spent
countless hours in making home an environment of warmth, love and beauty.
Her greatest love was indeed her family to whom she dedicated her life. Mary
will return to her original birthplace, Drumheller, AB. A private family
ceremony will take place in Saskatoon. Surrounded by angels in her life, she
will forever be surrounded by angels in death. Arrangements are entrusted to

ST. DENIS It is with sadness that we announce the death of Mr. Raymond St.
Denis who passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2003. A service will be held
at HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. A full

TAYLOR, LARRY (picture) Larry (Lawrence Douglas) Taylor Larry (Lawrence
Douglas) Taylor passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2003 with his
loving wife and companion for just over 50 years by his side. Besides
Doreen, he leaves to mourn his two children, Gary of Toronto and Beverly
Parker of Saskatoon; grandchildren, Michelle Parker, currently teaching in
Japan and Chris Parker of Saskatoon; his brother, Bob Taylor; and sister,
Avis Berry, both of Kamloops, BC. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Doug
and Vera Taylor; and brother, Lyle. A life-long resident of Saskatoon, Larry
was born on December 14, 1927, attending Buena Vista and Saskatoon Technical
Collegiate. For 42 years he worked at Saskatoon Motor products in parts and
service ending his career as parts and service manager. Larry's retirement
years were rich and fulfilling in the activities he most enjoyed. In the
winter, building model airplanes and flying them in the summer with the Hub
City Radio Control Club where he served as Secretary-Treasurer and later
Club President in 2001. Golfing with his buddies at the Saskatoon Golf and
Country Club where he was an honorary lifetime member, and curling at the
Nutana Curling Rink reflected his avid interest in most sports. He loved
gardening, growing luscious tomatoes and other vegetables in his greenhouse,
while travelling, visiting family and friends with Doreen was a frequent
diversion. Although diagnosed with a form of Leukemia two years ago, Larry
continued to enjoy his regular routine, especially appreciating the 50th
Wedding Celebration hosted by his son and daughter on June 27. The Funeral
Service will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Friday, August 15,
2003 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to a favorite charity would
be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to the SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME,
244-5577.
