The Province notes the following deaths in today's paper BREMNER HEALEY HILL JACOBSEN
KOSTINOFF LANGLEY LISICKY MAYO
BREMNER _ Delores Mary (Stevenson) passed away peacefully in Lions Gate Hospital on
August 19, 2003 at 79 years of age after a long battle with cancer. Born August 7, 1924
in Montreal, Quebec, Delores moved to North Vancouver in 1973 and finally settled in
Deep Cove. Survived and lovingly remembered by her son Glen (Don), daughters Gail and
Deborah (Brent), grandson Shawn, granddaughters Lindsay (Jeremy) and Brooke (Jas),
great-granddaughter Lauryn and great-grandsons Trent and Cain, sister Colleen (Don),
nephews Carl (Helen), Kevin, niece Tanya (Alex) and great-nieces Becky, Jane, Anna and
great-nephew Biron. Memorial service to be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 2:00
p.m. at Boal Chapel & Memorial Gardens, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made in Delores' memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
HEALEY _ Ronald Stanley - Born August 2, 1941. Taken WAY TOO SOON August 20, 2003 at
Surrey Memorial Hospital. Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife
of 41 years, Judy; children Susan (Robert) and Don (Kim); grandchildren Anthony, Cierra
and Alicia; brothers and sisters Sandra, Richard (Susan), Robert (Joanne), Shirley
(Bob), Sharon, Debbie (Elsie), Doug (Cheryl) and Jim (Kim); mother-in-law and
father-in-law Chris and Hoken; brother-in-law Don; sister-in-law Bev (Gerry); many
nieces and nephews including locally Sheryl (Greg), Ken (Sandi), Daria and Delaney;
other relatives and close friends. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Tuesday,
August 26, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway,
Surrey. In memory of Ron, contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be

HILL _ Mabel Elizabeth (Beth) born June 10, 1916; passed away on August 22, 2003.
Predeceased by her husband Victor (Vic) Hill. Survived by son Don Hill (Diane), daughter
Dianne Allan (Donald) and their children Iain and Jean. A longtime resident of Burnaby,
Beth was involved in the Guilding movement for many years. No service by request. In
lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Lung Association gratefully accepted.
JACOBSEN _ Edna Louisa, born July 2nd, 1913 Saskatchewan passed away peacefully August
1st, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Martin. Survived by her 2 sons Ken (Brenda), Wayne
(Connie); 6 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and her longtime friend Elsie Cornett.
Special thank you to the nurses at Golden Ears Retirement Centre and Ridge Meadows
Hospital, Allouette Unit, for their kindness, care and compassion. No service by
request. Memorial tea to be held at a later date.
KOSTINOFF _ Lavina (nee Thompson) "Rocky". Born June 10, 1913 passed gently August 18,
2003. Born in Brandon, Manitoba to Samuel and Mary Thompson. Lived a full life as a
cook, pioneer health advocate, businesswoman and Secretary of the 3 in 1 Ministry till
her passing. Predeceased by husband Fred; brothers Douglas (Mary), Gordon; sister Jessie
(Tom) Peasgood. Survived by sister Anne (James) Calcutta; friend Vera Descent and many
nieces and nephews and dear friends. A celebration of Lavina's life will be held
Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 2:30 pm at the Salvation Army Harbour Light Chapel, 119 E.
Cordova St, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, in Lavina's memory, donations to the
Salvation Army would be appreciated.
LANGLEY _ Shirley Margaret, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving
family on July 31st, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital, Sechelt. Survived by husband Don; 2
sons and 1 daughter, William John (Kathleen) Jones and Judith Rose (Bud) Russett and
David George (Debbie) Jones and 1 step daughter Alana (Rob) Sutton; 9 grandchildren; 2
great-grandchildren; 1 sister Marion Lindsay and other family members and friends.
LISICKY _ Cenek, Passed away peacefully August 14, 2003 at UBC Hospital in Vancouver at
the age of 92. Born April 3, 1911 in Smrzice, U Prostejova in Czechoslovakia. He
emigrated to Vienna in 1969 then came to Vancouver in 1970. He was a kind man who loved
animals, music, singing and acting. For many years he contributed his acting talent to
the Czech Theatre in Vancouver, where he was a devoted member. Survived by his loving
family, wife Maria; his loving daughters Jana and Jitka; he is grandfather to Radek,
Pavel, Ales and great grandfather to baby Victoria who all reside in the Czech Republic.
He will be sadly missed by his many friends, especially Jana and Emilia. A special thank
you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the German Canadian Care Home and the Purdy
Pavilion at UBC Hospital. There will be no funeral by his request. If you wish donations

MAYO _ Minnie Surinder, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2003 with her family by her
side. Minnie was born on September 13, 1936 in Ba, Fiji Islands. Predeceased by her
parents, father Sardar Ganga Singh and mother Sardarni Dhan Kaur of Karnana, Dist.
Jullendar, India. Survived by her loving family, sons Gary, Terry (Janice);
grandchildren Elana, West-Lee and Jayson. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday,
August 27, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Forest Lawn Chapel, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby.

MILIC _ Ivan (John) June 20th, 1934 - August 24th, 2002 Dad, your heart of gold stopped
beating. Hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes
the best. The leaves and flowers may wither. The golden sun may set. But the hearts that
loved so dearly Are the ones who won't forget. Dad we miss you. Love always, Bernadine

VANDERWELL _ Irene January 27th 1966- August 23rd 2001 2 years gone by now since God
took you in his care. He stopped the pain inside of you. A lot for you to bare. Your
memories will live on forever and with each passing day, your spirit stays here in us
all. Mostly in your baby girl. Sadly missed by, Mum & Dad; brothers Ed and Steve; Gary &
children Melissa, Steve Jr., Shannon, Darren, Danny.
