AXFORD _ Dorothy Mary passed away peacefully on April 2, 2004, at the Kinsmen Retirement Centre. Born November 29, 1916, Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Laurie and brothers Clarence, Donald and Leonard. She is survived by her sons Robert (Sharon), Kenneth (Sheila) and Donald (Joan); and grandchildren Karianne, Laura, Joel, and Steven. Catholic Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish, 3900 Arthur Drive, Delta, BC on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment at Boundary Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. DELTA FUNERAL HOME 604-946-6040
CHEW _ Peter Hum, longtime resident of Vancouver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at St. Michael's Centre in Burnaby with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary; sons, Gordon (Tana), Norman and Raymond (Shirley); daughter, Elaine Chew; grandchildren, Melody, Melissa and Brandyn; brothers, Stanley and David; sisters, Winnie (Eugene) Chung, Jean Mah and May (Pak-Fai) Wan; nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Monday, April 5, 2004 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, V5G 3M1, interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Society of BC, 600 - 890 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9.
CLARK _ Walter, on March 31, 2004. Late of Surrey, B.C., age 76 years. Survived by his 4 children, Ruth, Linda, Lorraine and Wayne, and their families; sisters, Marie and Grace; brothers, David and Lawrence. No service by request.
GOROWAY _ Hellen (Kidney, Tilley) (nee Lamming) passed away peacefully at her Maple Ridge home March 18, 2004 at the age of 72. Predeceased by her sister Lenore and brother Lloyd. There was never a more devoted husband than Barry who lovingly misses his wife. She is also survived by her brother Bill, her 5 children, Jacky, Gordon, Leann, Denise, Jane and 4 grandchildren. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all those who gave care and support to our mother during her illness. At her request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of her memory may be made to KATIE'S PLACE or to the Alzheimer's Society.
LIGHTFOOT _ Doris May. A Memorial Service for Doris will be held April 8th, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Avenue, Chilliwack (corner of Yale and Spadina). Rev. Doug Ireland officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to World Vision Canada would be appreciated.
OWEN _ Douglas Grant, born April 30, 1948, passed away suddenly at home in Langley on March 30, 2004. Doug is survived by his wife and best friend, Debbie; his parents, Bill and Pearl Owen of West Vancouver; Debbie's parents, Gordon and Audrey Stebanuk of Langley; brothers, David and Gary; children, April (Floyd) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Tori and Jay, and nieces and nephews, Curtis, Charlene and Candace. Doug was in the equipment business for many years. He had a wide circle of friends and associates. Doug wished that there be no service. A reception celebrating Doug's life will be held at Debbie's parents, for information call 604-530-2390. Doug will always be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. He will be missed by all that knew him. Rest easy "Honey Bunny", I love you "Deb".
WEAVER _ Mrs. June Mary Weaver, late of Abbotsford, BC passed away on March 31, 2004 at the age of 80 at The Cottage at MSA Hospital. She is survived by her husband Don; son Gary (Barbara); grandchildren Rebecca and Donavon; grandchildren of predeceased son William Weaver, Cheryl (Ray), Michelle (Darren) and their families. June was well-known for her hospitality, knitting, cooking, and baking. She loved being a farmer's wife. She had an unconditional love for her family. June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held on April 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford with Rev. John Richardson officiating. HENDERSON'S FUNERAL HOME 604-854-5534
WIRTH _ Walter William passed away peacefully on April 1, 2004 at VGH. He was born in Saskatchewan but lived most of his long life (he was 91) in Vancouver and retired to the Sunshine Coast with his wife Betty in the early '80s. Predeceased by Betty in 1988. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his son Jim, daughter Dianne, grandsons James and Michael, sister Elsie and brother Alfred. Walt was a hard-working man with a very sophisticated sense of humor. He loved playing practical jokes - passing on April 1 is quite a coincidence. He had a passion for working with machines and was truly a genius in his ability to build or repair all sorts of things. Walt will be laid to rest next to his wife Betty on Tuesday, April 6 at 12:00 p.m. at the Capilano Cemetery. A service to remember Walt will take place at the Kearney Funeral Home, 1096 West Broadway at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 - a reception to follow. Kearney Funeral Home604-736-0268
