MORRIS _ Shirley Rose (nee Patterson). Born February 9th, 1945 passed away in Royal Columbian Hospital on March 29th, 2004 after a short but painful battle with cancer, with Ivan her husband of 38 years and his sister Frances at her side. Predeceased by both parents and brother Donald. Survived by her sister Bessie and her brother Gordon. Memorial Service to be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8th at Glenbrook Park Community Centre, 76 Jamieson Street, New Westminster. Reception to follow. NELSON _ Aaron Miles died tragically on March 27, 2004. Survived by mother Angela, father Nuell, grandfather Michael; uncles, Mike and Melvin; brothers, Armon, Darron, Terence and Niko; sisters, Noelle, Camille and Emerald; and many friends. NILSSON _ Jeanette Agnes (nee LUND) Born February 21, 1914, Banff, Alberta. Passed away March 16, 2004, New Westminster, BC. Predeceased by husbands Ralph "Sonny" Benson and Axel Nilsson, sisters May, Ruth and Elma, and son Bob Benson. Survived by son Don Benson (Evelyn) of New Westminster; daughter Bonnie Peterson of Vancouver; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Nana's ready smile, generous spirit and unconditional love will be greatly missed by her large family and many friends. For those she touched, a memorial service will be held Saturday, April 10th, 1:00 p.m., Columbia-Bowell Chapel, 219 Sixth Street, New Westminster. NORMAN _ Lawrence Oscar, born April 29, 1925, passed peacefully March 29, 2004. 1st CDN Para Batt. Survived by his loving wife Marjorie; sister Marie; children, Christine (Mervyn), Michael (Jeanette), Cheryl (Rolf); grandchildren, Jennifer, Angela (John), Melissa, Aaron, Alexander and many relatives and friends. NORTHUP _ Donald Henry born March 3, 1922, passed away peacefully on the 1st of April 2004, in New Westminster. Don was a decorated veteran of WWII. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic and D. Day. He retired from Ocean Cement as a Captain, after 45 years of working the tow boats. Predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Doris, in July 1993. Survived by his children Linda (Rick), Mike (Deborah), John (Kathleen), Pat (Fran), who would like to give their heartfelt thanks to his loving companion Marjorie Sibley. Don and Marj loved and cared for each other, making Don's final years happy ones. His grandchildren, who he thought the world of, Kurt, Stephanie, Dean, Nicole, Ashley and Brad. ROBERTS _ Lillian passed away on April 2, 2004 at Langley, BC, age 91 years. Born October 5, 1912 at Clyde Bank, Scotland. Predeceased by her husband Edward (Ed) in 1956. Survived by her loving daughters Lorraine (Lorrie) DeTemple of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Norma (Richard) O'Toole of Limoges, Ontario, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Lillian immigrated to Canada in 1919 and lived most of her life in Vancouver, B.C. as well as in Powell River, B.C. from her teens to 1949. She was a much loved and respected employee of Pearson Hospital, Vancouver, B.C. for many years until her retirement in 1978. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all those who's lives she touched. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Brian Morgan, the staff of Rosewood Extended Care, and Langley Home Services. ROBINSON _ Grace F., late of Penticton, B.C., formerly of Coquitlam, B.C., passed away peacefully on March 29, 2004. Predeceased by her beloved husband, James Leslie in 1983. ROBSON _ Ralph L. passed away in hospital on April 1, 2004 after a brief illness. Born January 23, 1922 in Winnipeg. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ilse; sons, Ken (Ruby), Douglas (Ann) and Harold. Also left to mourn, his beloved grandchildren, Karen, Brian, Leanne, Jonathon, Jimmy; and five great-grandchildren; also sisters, Leah, Mary; sister-in-law Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was an inspector for the government and a life member of ASHRAE Chapter 020. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 8th at 11:00 am at the Salvation Army, Southmount Corp., 3403 E. 49 Ave, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army.


SMITH _ Bryon Donald Smith of Logan Lake, BC passed away unexpectedly in Nevada, USA, on March 29, 2004, at the age of 56 years. He is survived by his loving mother, Katherine Murray; his daughter, Nicole Longpre; his son, Michael; brother Craig; grandchildren, Brandon, Kristina, MacKenzie, Gabriel, Kai, Angel, Estephan; also his aunts, and uncles. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held today, April 3 at 10:00 am from the Arbor Chapel, Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14660-72 Avenue, Surrey. Interment will take place at a later date. SPRY _ Hilda Florence. Born June 11th, 1922 in Finchley, UK and passed away March 28th, 2004. Hilda fought a courageous battle due to complications from a stroke in September 2000 and recent heart failure. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Predeceased by her husband Franklin Russell and lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her son Lorne (Mari); daughter Judith (Murdock); sister Violet (Douglas); brother Ron (Pauline); grandchildren Morgan and Shoh; nephew Brian (Susanne) and their son Levi. Bert Spry and family in Ontario and extended family, Janice Spry and Bronwen Young. Hilda and Russ held close to their hearts many friends of over 50 years. Hilda valiantly served in the W.A.F.S. in England as an aerodrome truck driver until the end of World War II. She was a war bride and immigrated to Canada in 1946. Hilda was a loving person, gracious with a good sense of humour. She especially enjoyed hosting dinner parties for family and friends. What a wonderful cook sh!

She nurtured everyone she loved, was endlessly patient and taught her children the true meaning of cliches - "Every cloud has a silver lining" and "For every door that closes another one opens". We are forever grateful for her teaching us this simple wisdom. Hilda served for over 30 years on the Richmond Hospital Women's Auxiliary. STEAD _ William (Bill) Joseph Born July 21, 1921, Biggar Sask. With saddened hearts and cherished memories, we announce Bill's passing on March 23, 2004, in Delta BC, following complications from a fall. Bill served with the Navy Signal Corps (HMCS Naden-Esquimalt) and was posted to Halifax during the war. He married Betty June Pennett in Westboro (Ottawa) in 1943. Bill spent 19 years with General Electric in Ottawa and Toronto and was an active member with the United Commercial Travelers. He later founded a west coast chapter in BC in 1966 when a new job with Amphenol Canada fulfilled his dream to move out west to Delta. In 1970 Bill founded and partnered with Tom Milner, Mil-Sted Communications (Agencies), a telecommunications company in which he was actively working until his hospital admission on March 1, 2004. Bill was a devoted husband for 60 years, caring father of three, successful businessman, and loyal friend. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary, all!
seven siblings, and his beautiful granddaughter Chrystal in 2002. He is survived by his wife Betty, son Rick (Sharon), daughters Wendy (Randy) and Judy, plus nine grandchildren. Bill enjoyed doing little things for so many people. In honour of his memory, reach out to someone in your life with a gesture of love or an act of kindness. STOCKDALE _ It is with profound sadness the family of Lucy Ford Stockdale (nee McFee) announce her passing following a brief illness on March 31, 2004 at the age of 86. Mom was predeceased by her parents Annie and Danny McFee, her sister Isabel and brother Donny as well as our Dad, Bill Stockdale. Mom's life will be celebrated and treasured by her children Bill and wife Judy and her daughter Marlene and husband Jim. She was a precious "Mum Mum" to Len (Larry), Bill (Myrna), Scott (Maryse) and Lisa (Ron) as well as her great-grandchildren Tabitha, Ashley, Kieran, Jacob, Dylan, Billie and Rayfe. Although Mom's life was shadowed in her final years by the relentless path of Alzheimer's, her dedication to her family, gentle spirit and unique sense of humour will forever be in our hearts. THOMAS _ Dorothy V. passed away at the Burnaby Hospital March 30, 2004. Dorothy was a Past Matron of the Coquitlam Chapter #23, Order of the Eastern Star. Predeceased by her husband Mickey and son Blake. Von AESCH _ Fredrika "Frieda" (nee Kooyman) passed away peacefully after surgery on March 31, 2004 in Burnaby, BC. Frieda was born in Winnipeg on July 19, 1921. She was preceded in death by her daughter Janet Rita, husband Glen Smith and husband Ron Von Aesch. She is survived by her son, Wes Smith and his wife Sharon, granddaughter Meryl Bromley; grandson Evan Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Grace, Lester, Wyatt, Emily, Morgan and Elias; and sisters, Fran Wardell, Gretha Warren and Janet Phillips. There will be a memorial service Saturday, April 3rd at 4:00 pm at the Danish Lutheran Church on Kincaid Street in Burnaby. VUKUSIC _ Sylvia (nee Mazurkewich), born January 25, 1946 in Ranger, Sask., passed away March 31, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sylvia leaves behind Marijan, her loving husband of 37 years; son Andrew; daughters, Rosanne (Darren) and Christine (Don); grandchildren, Nathan and Amelia; sister Mary (Lionel); brothers, John, Bill (Gloria), Karl, Myron; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Family gatherings were the most important and enjoyable events for Sylvia. She would go all out with her baking made with fruit picked from her own garden. You always left her home with a kind word, hug, and a bag filled with goodies. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Prayers will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, April 6th at St.Paul's Parish, 8251 St. Albans Road, Richmond where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00 am. WEIR _ Rosaline "Lynne". Passed away peacefully at 79 years of age with her family by her side. Lynne was predeceased by her brother Ian, sister Patricia and son Greg. Lynne is survived by her loving family: sister Valerie (Richard); brothers, David (Lynn) and Ben (Iris); daughter Alison (Allyn); grandchildren, Jason, Jana, Amanda and Alicia. Lynne will always be remembered and missed by her nieces and nephews, as well as Adele and Wendy. Lynne is best known for her love of breeding and showing Maltese dogs for the past 38 years and all the friends she has made along the way. WILSON _ Robert Thornley (Tony), born June 13, 1907, St. Catherines, Ontario, passed away March 27, 2004 in Crofton Manor, Vancouver, BC. He was predeceased by his wife Patsy in 1953 and his second wife Mildred in 1991. Survived by son Randy Wilson (Pat); sister Charlotte Kerr; and niece Beth Melcher; step-children, Diana McGaw (Bill), Patricia Greer (Jim), Robert; and grandchildren, Laura North (Andrew), Andrea Linsley (Alan), Suzanne, Jordon (David), and great-grandchildren Amy and Daniel. Tony joined the fledgling Standard Oil Company of BC in 1935 as Secretary and Treasurer, retiring in 1967 as Vice President of Finance, after a long and successful business career. Aside from his quick wit and passion for gardening, Tony is fondly remembered for his patience, fairness and love of travel with wife Mildred, following his retirement. He served tirelessly on the Board of Referees for the Unemployment Isurance Commission, as President of Van Dusen Gardens, and served on the B!
oards of the BC Children's Hospital and Medical Services Association. He was also a life member of the Vancouver Club. Private family service following cremation. Sorely missed but not forgotten!


WOODWARD _ Pearl (Pat) Margaret Passed away peacefully March 16, 2004 in her 87th year at Langley Gardens Retirement Residence, Langley, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1986. WRIGHT _ A.R. Gordon, born in Brandon, Manitoba, December 11, 1918, passed away peacefully at the Dwelling Place, Nanaimo, B.C. March 27, 2004. Gordon (or Gordy to his close friends) is survived by his loving wife Jean; and his 4 beloved children, son Robert, daughters, Jane (Don) Swiatlowski, Joanne (Rod) Smith and son David (Anne Marie); 5 loving grandchildren, Nicholas, Karla, Kristi, Courtney and Brittney; surviving sister, Margaret Bennest, as well as relatives and friends. Gord graduated from Lord Byng High School in Vancouver and in 1941 volunteered for active military duty, and was assigned to the RCAF, serving in the Middle East. He was honoured for his services by King George VI in January 1945 with a Mentioned in Dispatches.We will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace forever more.
