ANDERSON _ Dorothy (nee Felker) passed away unexpectedly on February 2nd, 2004.
Gathering of friends and family will be held on April 17th, 2004 at 7264 Kingsway,
Burnaby from 1-3 p.m. Please join us for this time of fellowship and remembrance.

BETTS _ Walter Edward, born November 6, 1918, passed away quickly after 85 healthy
years. Predeceased by his beloved daughters, Kathryn and Kathleen. Walter will be sadly
missed by his children, Bernice, Douglas and Norman; their spouses; Jim, Christine and
Indra; his precious grandchildren, Michael, Keltie, Heidi, Reid, Camille and Xander;
many friends and family; and his pampered cats. A service to celebrate Walter's life
will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road,
North Vancouver, BC. In lieu of flowers, buy yourself a great jazz CD and think of Walt.

BURKE _ Kenneth Lloyd, born November 19, 1930 in Saskatoon, died April 3, 2004 in
Vancouver, his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Annie and John Burke,
sisters Eileen and Kathleen, brothers Edward and Louis. Survived by his wife Carroll and
sons David (Lisa), Jonathan (Susan), the newest light in his life - grandson Anthony,
brother William Thomas, sisters-in-law Maria Ines Burke, Jean Burke, niece Carla
(Michael), nephews Adrian (Heather), Graham (Siobhan), Trevor, and great nieces and
nephews (Stephanie and Liam; Graham, Katie and Liam) in Canada and the USA. Memorial
service April 14, 2004 at 2pm at Ryerson United Church 45th and Yew. In lieu of flowers,
please consider making a donation to the BC Guide Dogs Services. A fine man, Ken gave of
himself wherever he went and made that part of the world a better place. We miss you.

CAMERON _ John Archie born January 8, 1924 in Port Hood, Nova Scotia, passed away
peacefully at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC on April 3, 2004. He is
survived by his wife Maureen, daughter Italia and son Cailean. A proud Cape Bretoner, he
worked on many of the projects that built Canada, from Buchans, NFLD to Niagara Falls,
Ontario to British Columbia. He is remembered as a strong, kind man, devoted father and
loving husband, his selflessness and kindness have touched all that have known him.
Thanks to all medical staff who cared for him and a special thanks to Dr. W. Rebeyka and
Mark Miller for their on going care through this hard time. Prayers will be held,
Monday, April 12th at 7:30PM from St. Peter's Church, 402 Royal Avenue where Funeral
Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 13 at 10:00AM. John will be laid to rest at his
home in Cape Breton. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Lung Association

CARSON _ Kathleen (nee Andrusiak) died peacefully April 4, 2004 at Moog and Friends
Hospice House, Penticton, after a brief illness at the age of 86. Cremation and private

DAVEY _ Patricia Born on November 10, 1921 in Redruth, England. Passed away April 7,
2004 in North Vancouver. Predeceased by her husband Jack (2000) and her daughter
Jennifer Mitchell (2004). Survived by her daughter Pauline Nimmo and granddaughters,
Kimberley Gray and Melissa Mitchell. Her family and friends will miss her sense of
humour. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer
Society would be appreciated.

EDGE _ Edward Leonard. Passed away peacefully at his home on April 6th, 2004, at the age
of 78, just fifty-four days short of his 79th birthday. Survived by his loving wife
Phyllis, of fifty-seven years; son Leonard (Tammy); granddaughters, Alicia and Lindsey;
sisters, Shirley Moore, Florence Melville and Lillian Small. Edward was a long time
resident of Burnaby, belonged to the Armed Forces and was a member of the Masonic Order,
Grandview Lodge. Memorial Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 13th, 2004, at
1:30 p.m., from West Burnaby United Church, 6050 Sussex Ave. Burnaby, 604-434-4747. In

FARLEY _ Joyce Marie Barbara 23 December 1948 - 28 March 2004 After a courageous battle
with cancer, fought with quiet dignity and incredible determination, we are sad to
announce that Joyce passed away on Sunday, 28th of March. Joyce was in the constant and
loving care of her son Ryan, her family, friends and co-workers during her last days.
She was never alone and was soothed by gentle music and the caring touch of family,
friends and teddy bears until the end. Very special thanks to the nursing staff at
Richmond Hospital Palliative Ward for their kindness to Joyce and patience with the
flood of family and friends keeping Joyce company in her final hours. Surviving Joyce
are her only son, Ryan and his girlfriend Anna, brother Ron of Montreal, sisters Jean
and Bev of Calgary, nephew Bruce of Victoria and Dean of Ontario, niece Karen of
Montreal, and much-loved cousin France of Montreal. Joyce will also be missed by many
more extended family, friends, and co-workers, plus the numerous international students
that she and Ryan welcomed into their home over the years. The true tapestry of Joyce's
life was people; she was a magnet that everyone gravitated to. Joyce never forgot anyone
who came into her life and she had the telephone phone bill to prove it! We all love you
Joyce. Keep on yakking! Cremation, with Memorial Services at Ocean View Chapel, Burnaby,
BC, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, 14th of April 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canuck

FERGUSON _ Violet Agnes (Vi) nee: McGregor Born on August 22, 1912 in Melfort,
Saskatchewan. Our dear sister and beloved aunt passed away peacefully on April 3, 2004.
Predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years, Gordon Ferguson, and two brothers,
David and Ernie McGregor. Survived by her sister Dorothy Gillis of Victoria. Vi began a
teaching career at Pitmans Business College in Vancouver at age eighteen where she
advanced to the position of Principal of the College. Vi and Gord moved to Victoria in
1952 where Vi resumed her teaching career at Sprott Shaw until she retired in 1972. Vi
was a founding member in 1936 of the Vancouver Chapter of the Comitas Club and continued
her membership in the Victoria Chapter. Vi was an avid bridge player, enjoyed gardening
and numerous trips with family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces
and nephews, and numerous grand nieces and nephews. No service by request. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made in Vi's memory to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

FIX _ The death of Sister Anne K. Fix (Sr. Mary Julienne) of Ruth Ross Residence, Saint
John, N.B., occurred at her residence on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Sister was born in
Russia, a daughter of the late Michael and Barbara (Klein) Fix. Sister Fix entered the
Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on September 1, 1928. She worked as a
Medical Records Librarian at St. Joseph's Hospital, Radway, Alberta (1933-1937) and Holy
Family Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (1948-1970). Sister Anne also cared for
infants at Our Lady of Mercy Home in Vancouver (1937-1948). While in Vancouver Sister
Anne served as Medical Librarian, Sacristan and Pastoral Visitor at St. Vincent's
Hospital (1970-1980) and at the Archives of the Archdiocese of Vancouver (1978-1980).
She is survived by one brother, Rev. Val J. Fix, O.M.I., Penticton, B.C.; one sister,
Mrs. Angela Kartusch of Regina; one niece; and two nephews. Funeral Service was held in
St. Vincent's Convent Chapel. Interment took place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St.
Joseph's Cemetery.
HIGO _ Fumiko of Richmond BC passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2004. Born in
Japan on September 17, 1907. Predeceased by husband Binosuke; sister Aiko, and
sons-in-law, Masao and Al. Survived by brothers, Momotaro, Kenbo, Kunio and sister
Namiko. She will be dearly missed by her children Lily (Roy), Reg (Pat), Herb, Emily and
Marian; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
Fumiko will always be remembered for her gracious spirit and gentle smile. Thank you to
the staff of Rosewood Manor. A family service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004
at 7:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver. Koden and
flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Fumiko's memory to Rosewood Manor
Care Foundation, 6260 Blundell Rd, Richmond, BC, V7C 5C4.

HILTON _ Larry. It is with deep love and respect that we announce the passing over of
Larry, Kala'io Kahekili 0 Ka Lani Hilton. He parted this world peacefully at home, on
April 7, 2004. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Noreen; sons, Keven
and David; daughter, Janis Chartran; sisters, Bernice Gunsten, Marline Taylor;
brother-in-law George Gunsten; his well-loved grandchildren, Taylor, Blair, Craig,
Kristianne, and many many many friends. In addition to his success as a mechanic, hockey
coach, Scout leader, musician, guitar builder, electrician, plumber, farmer, house
builder, crab fisherman, water diviner, electronics designer, inventor, and Kumu
Ho'omanaloa, Larry was a teacher and school administrator in the Surrey School District
for 33 years. After his retirement he joined Noreen as a highly valued member of NL
Palmer and Associates and the NLP Institute. At Larry's request there will be no
funeral. A "Celebration of Larry's Life" will take place at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, donations are accepted for a "living garden" which will be planted in Larry's

HOWSON _ Robert Henry (Harry) died on April 5th, 2004 at age 89 years. Born in
Liverpool, England, immigrated to Saskatoon and was ordained in the Anglican Church of
Canada in Saskatoon. Served the church in Saskatchewan and Ontario before enlisting in
the R.C.A.F. as a chaplain serving in Canada, France and Germany. Harry will be sadly
missed by his wife Violet of 57 years. Predeceased by father and mother and brother
Ernest. Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 15115 Roper
Avenue, White Rock, B.C. on Wednesday, April 14th at 1:30 p.m. with the burial of ashes
in the Memorial Garden at Holy Trinity Church. Flowers gratefully declined.

JONES _ Thelma Joyce, born March 28th, 1924, passed away peacefully April 4th, 2004 at
Lions Gate Hospital. She was born in Winnipeg. There will be no service held at her
request. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

KATSOGIANNOS _ Serafim (Sam), passed away suddenly on April 5th, 2004 at the age of 27
years. Survived by his parents Bill and Maria of Prince Rupert, sisters Anna and
Katerina both of Vancouver, many other family and friends in Canada and Greece. Prayer
Services will be held at St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus Street,
Vancouver on Wednesday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. with Father Demetrios Partsafas
officiating. Funeral Service and burial will take place in Greece at a later late. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

KRAUSE _ David Larkin. (November 17, 1942 - April 2, 2004). Predeceased by parents Carl
and Charlotte (nee Dixon) Krause, and sister Carol Lange. Survived by brothers Bill
(wife Lanny) and Stan; nieces Karen and Yvonne; nephews Rob and Michael; many cousins
and friends. No service by David's request. Cremation. David was loved by many, and we
will miss him dearly.

LATTIMER _ Victor Sydney - beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born
February 5, 1923 in Montreal, and passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at
VGH April 4, 2004. Vic will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 55
years Evelyne, son Jim (Lynette) and children Angela and Matthew, son Stephen and
children Nahanni and Quinn and their mother Charlene, daughter Jayne Berry (Dan) and
child Sarah, and son Michael (Kelly) and children Thomas, Sully, Max, Aaron and Sammy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Saint Augustine's
Parish in Vancouver, Father Paul Bui officiating. A special thanks to Dr. Tanya
Petraszko, the palliative care nurses and many prayers of support. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Vic's memory will be appreciated by Variety - The Children's Charity of
British Columbia, 4300 Still Creek Drive. Burnaby, B.C. V5C 6C3.

LOGAN _ Marie A. (nee Broes) died suddenly on March 30th, 2004. Marie's working life was
in nursing at Toronto General and Vancouver General Hospitals. Marie is survived by
husband Gordon; children Robert (Barb), Patricia (Bob) and Iain; grandchildren Amber,
Tiffany, Evan and Montana Lash; great-grandchildren Brendan and Ethan and sister Pat
(Barry). Marie was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Cremation
has already taken place. There will be no memorial service at her request.

LUTKE _ Phyllis Ellen, of North Vancouver, peacefully in her sleep on April 7th, 2004,
at the age of 71. Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy (Andrew) and Sandra
(Nigel); son, Brian; brother, Jack; 4 grandchildren; and her extended family and many
friends whose lives she touched with her genuine Christian love. A Memorial Service
celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, April 14th, 2:00 p.m., at First Church
of the Nazarene, 998 East 19th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to
Parkinson's Research would be appreciated.

MEYER _ Max passed away peacefully on April 1, 2004 at his home. Max, son of Eugene and
Alice Meyer was born on February 22, 1913 in Cologne, Germany. His family owned a
prominent lace factory and Max was educated in languages and commerce in order to take
over the business. After Kristallnacht occurred, the Meyer family was forced to abandon
their way of life. Cousins in Canada helped them obtain a special Order in Council to
immigrate, and they arrived in 1939, on Thanksgiving day. They settled in Vancouver,
where Max worked at various jobs. He then learned the accounting profession and set up
his own practice which he operated for over 30 years. He married his beloved Ethel
(Saper) in 1948. Max enjoyed walks in Stanley park, playing tennis, vacationing in
Carmel, going to the theatre, reading, and debating ethical issues. He was a past
treasurer of the Beth Israel Synagogue and one of the founding members of the Hebrew
Loan Society. He was an anonymous donor to many charities. He and Ethel moved to the
Louis Brier Home when their health deteriorated. At the home, he was a well respected,
dignified, and valued member of many committees. His wise counsel was appreciated by
all. He is survived by his cherished wife, Ethel, his dear son Larry, his loving
daughter-in-law Tyla, and his adored grandchildren, Eadie and Sol. His funeral was held
April 2, 2004 at the Beth Israel Cemetery. His family would like to thank the Louis
Brier Home for truly making a caring home for him.

MYNETT _ Walter James. Passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital on April 7,
2004 in his 87th year. Born February 16, 1918 in Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Walter was
a veteran of WWII, and had a lengthy and successful career in education in the Langley
School District. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie, three children, Dave,
Maureen (McKinnon) and Gary, son-in-law Doug McKinnon and two grandchildren, Adam and
Cory. The family wishes to express their gratitude for all the care and support provided
by the staff at Langley Gardens, the Langley Memorial Hospital and Dr. Leslie Sank. No

NEWMAN _ Joanne Marie passed away April 6, 2004, at the age of 65, in the Delta
Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband Ralph, and other family members. Funeral
Service will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 11:00am, in the Forest Lawn Chapel,
Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the A.L.S. Society of BC.

PLAGNOL _ Jean (John), age 77, passed away peacefully in hospital in Abbotsford on April
1, 2004. A private memorial service will be held to remember Jean, a loyal friend,
helpful neighbour, devoted husband, outstanding father and loving grandfather. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to the Canadian Cancer
Society.

ROBB _ John Lynnwood (Lynn), born August 15, 1932 in Montreal, passed away on April 3,
2004. Predeceased by his wife Glenys (2000). Lynn will be sadly missed by his children,
grandchildren, brothers, mother-in-law and the Deering family, and his many friends.
Lynn was a man of many talents and interests, and had a varied career in Montreal and
Toronto before coming to B.C. in 1983. His work prior to retirement running The Kitchen
Place prepared him well for his recent achievements as a volunteer with Habitat for
Humanity. Lynn assisted with the first phase of Habitat's "build" in Burnaby and most
notable was the driving force behind the opening and early success of Habitat's Restore.
Lynn's commitment to his neighbourhood and community was demonstrated in many ways,
including volunteering for over three decades with the Cubs and Scouts (including
serving as North Van District Commissioner); volunteering with the community RCMP office
in the Capilano Highlands; and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Lynn and his dog
Farley will be missed by his neighbours in Edgemont Village and by his kite flying
companions at Vanier Park. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 18 at 2:00
pm at Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont Boulevard, North Vancouver. Reception to
follow.

STEWART _ Frederick Howard, born in Toronto March 19, 1909, died peacefully April 06,
2004 at Purdy Pavilion, UBC Hospital, Vancouver. Predeceased by his wife, Doreen and
their son Rick. Howard began his career with the Bank of Toronto in 1926 in Ontario,
retiring as Mgr. of the TD Bank (10th and Alma, Vancouver)after 42 years. He will be
sadly missed by colleagues and friends. Heartfelt thanks to the medical team at UBC
Hospital for their wonderful care and expertise received by Howard these past few
months. By request there will be no service.

WILLIAMS _ Herbert Vivian (Herb) died peacefully in Kelowna General Hospital on April 6,
2004. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 31, 1917, the fifth of six children
born to Thomas and Elizabeth Williams. Herb grew up in Winnipeg where he attended the
University of Manitoba, graduating with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce
degrees. While still at university, he joined The Equitable Life Insurance Company of
Canada as a salesman, and subsequently as a manager; he was affiliated with that company
for 60 years. A leader in his field, he was a past President of The Life Underwriters'
Association of Canada (now known as Advocis), an honorary life member of The Million
Dollar Round Table and the author of a book on Registered Retirement Savings Plans
entitled" A Valuable Tax Concession". Known in the Life Insurance industry across Canada
for his innovative ideas, he was a sought-after speaker and a mentor to many young
people entering the business. He was an enthusiastic tennis and card player, curler,
golfer, skier and boater. With his family, he spent many happy times at the cottage on
The Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Herb and his wife Joan moved to Kelowna, BC in 1975
where he continued his business, his volunteer work and where he was a major fund raiser
to help start the Sunshine Theatre Company, the first professional theatre company in
the Okanagan Valley. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International and a member of
The Probus Club of Kelowna. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Thomas, Douglas, Norman
and Raymond, he is survived by his loving wife Joan, three children, John (Marlayne) of
Sechelt, B.C., Pamela Sherlock (William) of Kelowna, B.C. and Timothy of Toronto, ON;
three grandchildren, Claire Williams (Shane) and Joel Sherlock of Kelowna, and Jesse
Sherlock of Vancouver; a sister, Beryl Richards of Montreal; and Marcus Young, a special
friend through Big Brothers Association. Herb's life was characterized by love of
family, integrity in business and service to his community. He will be sadly missed.

WORSLEY _ Brian Peter July 21, 1953 - April 4, 2004 Passed away peacefully, after
leading an honorable and courageous life. Brian loved photography and competitive square
dancing. He also took great pride in his many years operating a printing press.
Pre-deceased by his father Bernard and lovingly remembered by his mother Irene, children
Basia, Shane and Slade, grandchildren P.J., Denver and Emerald, siblings Joan, Bev, Paul
and spouses. Brian will also be missed dearly by many other relatives and friends. In
