BLACK _ Verna Margaret (nee Dye) Passed away May 2, 2004. She was born January 20, 1920
in Elnora, AB. Verna will be missed by her sons James Price (Willene) and Gordon Price
(Julie) and grandchildren Lori, Shelley, Verna, Dan, Darren, Mike and Greg and their
spouses and 11 great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her 2 sisters and four
brothers and their spouses along with nieces, nephews and friends. Verna was an employee
for the B.C. Electric and then the B.C. Hydro for 25 years. Verna resided at Langley
Gardens for the past 3 1/2 years. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Salvation
Army. No service at Verna's request.

BREWER _ (Margaret) Dawn passed away May 5th, 2004. She is predeceased by her loving
parents Cecil and Hazel Brewer. She is survived by her dear friends at South Granville
Park Lodge and St. David's in Vancouver. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11th,
2004 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Bell Funeral Chapel, 2746 E. Hastings Street, Vancouver. A
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 12th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from St.
David of Wales Anglican Church, 2475 Franklin Street, Vancouver. Fr. John Firmston and
Fr. James Penrice will officiate. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park,

COULL _ Alberta Jean (nee Holmes) died after a brief illness on April 19, 2004. She was
predeceased by her husband Charles Anderson Coull in June 1998. Jean is survived by her
two children Anne (Hoffman) and Bruce and many grandchildren. There will be a memorial
service on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Hollyburn Funeral Home, 1807 Marine
Drive, West Vancouver. Flowers are welcome or, if preferred, donations may be made to
the Jean Coull Bursary Fund, c/o The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #60, 580 18th, Street,
West Vancouver, BC V7V 3V7. Her family and friends know that her exemplary life will
allow her to rest in peace, secure in the knowledge that she always loved well, worked

FINDLAY _ May (Edith) passed away unexpectedly in West Vancouver, May 4th, 2004 at the
age of 85. Born in Montreal April 29th, 1919. Predeceased by loving husband John, 1993.
Survived by daughter Susan (Gerard), son David (Christian) and grandchildren Matthew,
Heather, Anna, Iain and family and friends. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, May
12th at 2:00 p.m at West Van United Church, 21st and Esquimalt. If so desired, donations
may be made to the Lion's Gate Hospital.

FLEWWELLING _ Grace Evelyn "No More Turmoil, No More Strife, At Peace At Last, To A
Better Life", Born January 8th, 1913 went to be with the Lord on April 28th, 2004.
Survived by her loving daughter, Fran Campbell Vass; four grandchildren, David William
(Ann) Vass of Westbank, BC, Robert Andrew (Gwen) Vass of Surrey, BC, Gerald Edward Vass
of North Vancouver, BC, Shelley Irene (Mark) Brown of West Kelowna, BC; five
great-granddaughters, Alexis and Ashley Vass of Surrey, BC, Courtenay, Cheryl and Sandy
Brown of West Kelowna, BC. Sadly predeceased by her husband Gerald Ford Flewwelling -
Mom will join him on his birthday June 20, 2004. Many thanks to caregiver Leona
Thygersen and Dr. Mike Surkan. A graveside service will be held on June 20, 2004 at
11:00 a.m. from Mountainview Cemetery, 41st and Fraser, Vancouver, BC. Memorial tributes
may be directed to The Canadian Cancer Society for Research, #103 - 74 Wade Avenue, East
Penticton, BC, V2A 8M4.

HERMAN _ Andrew passed away peacefully on May 6, 2004 at the age of 95 years. He is
predeceased by his wife Dora Nowitsky. Andrew is survived by his stepson Tony Nowitsky
and his children Kimberley and Blair, also Andrew's caring friends and neighbours Tony
and Mila Mustapic and their children Yvonne, Suzy and Mary. A funeral service will be
held on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at Bell Funeral Chapel, 2746 E. Hastings
Street, Vancouver. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby. Bell

RUSSELL _ Bruce Lewis (Rtd) RCN, 77, beloved husband of Shirley, passed away peacefully
at Ashcroft District Hospital on May 3, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bruce was born June 17, 1926 at Clam Harbour, Nova Scotia. He was predeceased by his
mother and father and brother Royce. Bruce is survived by his loving wife Shirley, and
children, Bruce Jr. (Heather), North Vancouver, by a previous marriage; stepchildren,
Dr. David Shergold (Elizabeth), Toronto, Richard, Edmonton, Susan (Rob), Prince George;
his sisters, Ruby, Sheila and brother Bub, Nova Scotia; plus ten grandchildren. Memorial
service for Bruce will be held May 15th at the Ashcroft Community Hall, Ashcroft, BC at
1 pm.

SCHEBEL _ Ted Adam passed away in Vancouver on Tuesday May 4, 2004. Born December 2,
1937. Predeceased by his parents, Sophie and Bill. Survived by his children, Debbie
(Ron), Teri (Craig) and Rick; grandchildren, Staci, Chelsea, Bailey and Courtney;
brothers, Julian and Wayne. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 13 at 2:00
pm in the chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby

WHIDDEN _ Patrick (Shane), born May 11, 1950. Our Dad, Our Hero The times we had
together Were so special to us three, They're in our hearts forever These precious
memories. No matter where life leads us You will always be our guide, We're proud to be
your children You're a hero in our eyes. With family at his side, Shane passed away on
May 4, 2004 after his struggle with cancer. Survived by his brother Bruce (Billy),
sister Lynn (George), son Jason, daughter Tracy (Craig), daughter Trina (Clay) and
grandson Brayden. Shane's sense of humour, laughter, integrity and love will be
cherished by family and friends always. "We love you Dad."
